After graduating from the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, Chef Brett Knipmeyer returned to Chicago for a stint at the WORLD RENOWNED CHARLIE TROTTER’S.
After moving to Alaska to be the head chef at Jens Restaurant Brett has now staked his own culinary claim, and named it after his daughter, Kinley.
Kinley's serves fresh Alaskan seafood right from local fisherman, 30 Wines By the Glass, 300 wines by the bottle, and locally brewed beers on tap, as well as a wide selection of Belgian ales

"This my wife and I's second time at Kinley's. We went back because our first experience was so good. We don't have a lot of money so the price point is definately a factor for us and, in turn, we expect a lot out of the food. It did not disappoint. She had the Filet Mignon (again) and I had the Rockfish. Both were fantastic and plenty of food. She had a large mound of potatoes and vegetables with here piece of meat. I had plenty on my plate as well with the fish, vegetables and rice. I started with the squash soup w/ roasted pumpkin seeds (fantastic). I have seen reviews that say the portions are not large enough... those people probably eat too much. I run 30-50 miles a week and consume the calories to match and left very full. Savor it!"

"I have been to Kinley's numerous times in the past and have always been very pleased. However, I was very disappointed with my food choices this time. I thought that my entree of halibut cheeks were slightly overdone and were swimming in a heavy sauce. It destroyed their delicacy. Both of my wine selections(which were ordered by the glass) were disappointing. The sorbet was great!"

"I was dining with someone who doesn't frequent sit-down style restaurants so it was a real treat to be able to introduce her to the fabulous lobster ravioli and creme brulee for the first time. I didn't recognize one of the specials as "chicken and waffles" until the waiter brought it to my attention- way to class it up. I ordered a stand by Chef's BLT which was good, the bun was charred more than my taste, but it was still good. The balsamic cheesecake with strawberry compote was a standout that I would recommend to others."

"The Mocha Bourbon Pecan Torte was the most amazing dessert we've ever had. (If you like chocolate it's a must). Presented well, delicious.
I had the lamb shank which was moist and easy to pull off the bone but still had plenty of integrity. The gnocchi and vegetables, which were served around and under the sizable piece of meat, carried a wonderful smokiness present especially in the artichoke hearts.

"The wait staff were very courteous but the wait for food was forever. They constantly returned to apologize for the wait but apologies don't produce food. When the food finally did arrive, it arrived all together so that the appetizer, salad and entree all ended up crammed on the table at once. The food was great but the service needs improvement."

"We came in from out of town and chose this as one of the places we wanted to take advantage while in town.
We were there on a Friday night, before 8 PM.
We were seating promptly, even being a tad early for a reservation. The placed filled quickly and became pretty 'energetic' when it came to noise. A little hard for us to hear each other but not terrible.

we went there for Valentine's and had a good meal, but that's it. Nothing else about gave a wish to have a romantic diner. We actually would like to go there again - just food, it was good and we both liked it."

"Kinley's has to be one of the very best restaurants in Anchorage! We've dined there a number of times, and never been anything but amazed! Members of our party had the duck, the rockfish, and the ribeye special of the evening. All three meals were expertly prepared and served at the perfect temperature. Our server Pav was excellent, knowing exactly where the line between attentive and hovering was, and never crossing it! Kinleys gets our very highest recommendation!"
