". Why it took so long for us to enjoy this wonderful restaurant, I do not know! We made reservations and when we arrived were seated promptly. Our server was attentive and never in the way on a very busy night. The food spectacular from the bread and dipping sauce to the oyster appetizer followed by a well prepared seafood platter. We enjoyed a fine wine from a well thought out wine list. The dining room was packed but did not feel crowded. There is not one aspect of our dining expience I would change. And, we will return!"

"The restaurant is in a cottage which made for a comfortable setting. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. The menu was a nice mix of choices. A nice mix of classic to modern dishes. Our party of three each had a different fish dish. Each entree was well prepared and flavorful. The wine list was diverse and well-priced. I would definitely return and would highly recommend."

"The traffic was terrible Sunday of Memorial Day weekend but we relaxed and enjoyed the sights on the way. The restaurant is in a very nice setting and you can see the Skyway bridge across the bay. The food and service were great. All 8 of us would go back."

"Jessica provided great service and had patience through numerous questions. She had a nice sense of humor and was very attentive. Mother had fried shrimp and raved about the size. Dad and my friend both had the Sampler (one with crabcake), which were plentiful and well presented. Their meals had both spaghetti squash (which is nearly a starch to me and some kind of mashed potatoes that were orange and were, I believe, supposed to be garlic and parmesan. The potatoes were cold, as if placed on the plate some time prior to the rest of the food or kept in a container off the heat for some time - stiff and tasteless. I had the shrimp and grits, which was not up to usual Waterfront standards. Bland with large pieces of bacon. Barely OK."

"What a gem of a restaurant, located on the waterfront...dine inside or out if available, we booked a table for 4 online it was so easy with a prompt reply, we opted to sit outside in the warm evening air...good choice! Service is excellent right from the cheerful greeting to the table waiting. Menu very comprehensive something to suit every taste, we chose the mussels and fish, absolutly delicious, cooked and presented to perfection and enjoyed with an excellent glass of wine. We would reccomend without hesitation and look forward to returning very soon.

"We always like to eat at the Waterfront when we're in Anna Maria and we will continue to do so. The food is good and the view is awesome. However, in the inside dining room, they put brown butcher paper over top of the tablecloths! How tacky is that?!!! So they want to keep their tablecloths clean...throw them in the washing machine like everyone else does.....don't put brown butcher paper over them, for goodness sake. SO tacky.....did I mention TACKY?!!!"

"We had a great dining experience. The service was efficient attentive without being intrusive. The food is excellent. Well prepared and made with fresh ingredients. The bread was warm & fresh. Our salads were creative and very tasty. It was not your generic "house salad". The grouper Oscar was delicious. The grilled shrimp were big and tender, not over grilled to the point of dry and rubbery. Overall, we had really enjoyable meal and will return to dine again."

"My husband has lived in this area 35 years and I have been here 12 years but neither of us has eaten at The Waterfront before. This meal was our first experience, and all we could ask each other is"why have we not eaten here before?" The bisque was delicious, creamy, rich and the spinich salad could have been a meal in itself. The grouper was excellent both in the tacos (best ever!) and as an entree. I asked for a side of the braised red cabbage: $2.00. Unheard of for the price and delicious. Great meal. Lovely view. Wonderful atmosphere."

"We ate at the Waterfront on a Friday nite in April. I had the Flounder Picatta, my husband had the Frutti di Mare. We had previously eaten at a number of other restaurants on the island that week where the fish entrees had been absolutely delicious. Both of these were just OK. Too many capers and lemons on the picatta. Sauce on the Frutti di Mare was delicious but not much 'frutti' in the dish. And the service really wasnt very good. Our waiter disappeared into some other section of the restaurant for extended periods. Also I really didnt like either of the sides that came with my dinner. Later on I overheard another waitress offering her table other options, but our waiter hadnt given me any choice."

"Hate to have to report poorly on what has, for 9 years, been at the top of our must-visit list when in Anna Maria. We usually go 2-3 times while here. (and have sent many friends here!) But will not return again this year. We think they had an internal staff issue, as the energy was negative. They whispered among each other and seemed to all be in a bad mood. We waited extremely long for our main course, with no explanation or apologie. The Mahi was the most flavorless food and barely room temp. We are so disappointed. But, hope it was just an off night and will give it another chance when in area another year. Would not risk wasting another precious evening or money this vacation."

"Went there twice...once with 6 others including kids. Had a reservation but stilad ad to wait an extra half an hour. Very crowded. Service was a bit slow ...didn't eat for another hour after we got there. Having said that food was great

Later reservation and this time was seated within 5 minutes. Service was great. Service is better if you go after 8. We had children with us the last time so we wanted an earlier reservation but didn't really help.

"My family of 8 dined at The Waterfront Restaurant during our vacation stay at Anna Maria Island and celebrated my mother's 74th birthday. The food was excellent and the best we enjoyed on the island. The Shrimp and Grits were spectacular according to my sister-in-law and she is very particular. Only wine and beer are available, but the food makes up for the lack of cocktails."

"We were told about the restaurant by friends who heard about it through word of mouth, never having been there. We took their word and are quite happy that we did. Some seating has a great water view and some faces a street, but the food makes up for the possible bad view. We asked the waitress for her suggestions and she really came through. I highly recommend this restaurant. Enjoy!"

"This is our fourth year coming to this area and our meal at The Waterfront Restaurant ranks as one of our very best dining experiences! Great food, wonderful ambience, and terrific service. It was a real plus to be able to reserve a table on-line. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. The entire staff worked hard to make it a memorable dining experience and they were successful!"

"One of the best dining experiences that my wife and I have ever had! The food is absolutely fantastic, the place is full of charm, and we love being on Anna Marie Island, FL. This was our 3rd visit, and we will go back everytime that we are in town. The location is on the bay, so the view is very nice as well. We have had everything from seafood to the lamb shank, and have enjoyed every bite of every dish."

"My meal of Grouper Oscar was overcooked to the point of it being very dried out...even the mashed potatoes were very dry and hard as if they had been plated and reheated too much. My husband also had the mashed potatoes and his had the same problem.

"We are from the Upper Midwest and treated our daughter and son-in-law to an anniversary dinner at The Waterfront. It was a highlight of their long weekend visiting us on Anna Maria Island. She is an excellent cook and they are both "Foodies," quite adventurous and really fun to dine with at all types of restaurants and locations. The menu offered several delightful choices and the four of us shared samples of each others' entrees - the debate still goes as to who ordered "the best!""
