"Love this place. Whether brunch or dinner, I always pick this restaurant for a chill, tasty dinner. Dish flavors are always spot on. Service is subtle and sweet, always. Ambiance is charming. Have yet to have anything but a very great time with whoever I bring to 1905."

"It was a Sunday night on Memorial Day weekend, but there was no one else dining. There were, however, a lot of casually dressed folks loudly bounding up and down the stairs on their way to and from the rooftop bar. Considering that there was no one else to attend to in the dining room, the service was friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food lived up to expectation of the menu's description, but I have a feeling 1905 is more widely recognized for its bar and rooftop scene. Before we ordered the main course, we had a round of drinks. The "Hot Kentucky" was a hit. The Sazerac I ordered off the menu was also top notch."

"I don't know why this place has such reviews on Tripadvisor. There is nothing special there. Service is OK. The place itself is quite old. The food is, again, OK at best. Nothing special. The size of the courses are small compared to many other restaurants in the States. The decoration of the place and the place itself is in desperate need of renovation. Ok, but would not recommend at all."

"The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. I went to school in Louisiana and really appreciated the New Orleans noir style. Our server was aloof and was too preoccupied to provide excellent service. Although my catfish was absolutely perfect, the rest of the food was only ok. The truffle grits were almost tasteless and sprinkled too heavily with chopped onions. One of the main things we really disliked about the restaurant was the seating - that wooden bench was murder on each of our behinds and took the quality of the restaurant from very nice to almost pub-ish. The interior was so nice that the hard chairs and wooden bench were very disappointing. Our only other compliant was that our drinks were very diluted."

"The food was mediocre - not bad or good. The service was terrible. The waiter who certainly was competent was more interested in chatting up friends and regulars than attending to his taxes. The decor was ramshackle cute. I'm good with that but the locker room benches in lieu of chairs are ridiculous unless one is aiming for quick turnover. In that case they need to alert their waitstaff"

"I really love this place. I hadn't realized they have a new chef, but the meal was very tasty and our server was friendly and attentive. Went on a Wednesday night, so it was pretty quiet. I hope they are getting more business on the weekend. The rooftop bar was closed, but it's a really great place to go when it's warmer."

"The food was pretty good. My date and I's entrees weren't phenomenal but the seasonal beer was great and the appetizer we got (quinoa hushpuppies) were amazing. Our waiter was nice but a bit absent minded and not very attentive despite the fact that it wasn't crowded."

"1905 offers up a solid brunch. It is by no means the best brunch location in DC, but worth going if in a pinch. You'll walk away satisfied, but not wowed."
