La Bottega - Vail
La Bottega has been a mainstay for both locals and tourists alike since 1997. Having started as a sandwich and deli operation, La Bottega has grown into one of the top destinations for dining in the Vail Valley. La Bottega offers authentic Italian cuisine with the Chef Stephen Virion having worked in Tuscany and the Veneto regions of Italy. His wife, Elisabetta, is from Asiago, Italy and has crafted the wine list to compliment the cuisine. La Bottega's Wine Bar is a great place for apres ski or to just have a glass of wine with friends from our award winning wine list. Of course our famous sandwiches and our stone oven pizzas are still a big draw. At La Bottega there is something for everyone so as to make your dining experience enjoyable.

"The food was great, service was terrible. I waited at the bar for about 10 min before the bartender even talked to me. Then, when I tried to order not one, but TWO different cocktails, with totally different ingredients, they were out of both. Once we sat at our table, we weren't approached for at least 10 min. It was a busy night, but isn't every Sat a busy night in vail? they clearly have some operational issues to work out."

"I normally like to try different restaurants rather than go back to the same one over and over, but La Bottega is an exception and this visit lived up to expectations. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a resort like Vail. Whether I'm there with a big group or just two of us, it's always a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. I'll go back again."

"Fantastic! I am a concierge in Beaver Creek and put it in the notes in my open table reservation. I send many people to your restaurant and tell them you are my favorite in Vail. Just thought it might be mentioned. Also, the waiter was really busy and I understand, but he didn't even greet us with a hello. He just came up and said "what can I get you?" We were a bit surprised."

"We reserved a table for 9:15 p.m. but elected to go earlier and sit at the pizza bar where seating was first come first served. The place packed with diners. We were expecting rustic Italian but what we got was just sad. We ordered the beef carparcio which came covered in augural and caesar salad dressing. YUK. We ordered the scallops and veal Marsala. The scallops were gritty and my veal was tasteless. No Marsala came near this dish. Very disappointing especially when the bill arrived at over $130 for food we did not even eat. There are many great restaurants in Vail...this is not one I would recommend."

"Overall experience was great. We made a reservation and were late because we could not find the restaurant, but they provided us with directions and honored our reservation. We sat in the quiet back room. They had an extensive book of wines. Greek salad was amazing...lots of vegetables and little lettuce. The 4 cheese pizza could have been cooked longer, next time I would ask for it well done. Dad got veal Milanese and said it was very good. Cappuccino rounded out the meal as I was too full to try dessert. Would definitely go back again."

"I enjoyed my Caesar salad and appreciated the generous quantity of anchovies ($3 extra). The seafood pasta was very good. Others in our party loved the caprese salad, prepared with a very nice imported Bufala mozzarella, but at $18, it was judged pricey. The cannelloni was excellent. The filet of sole was said to be "mushy,"(undercooked). Two in our party had the spaghetti with duck reduction and one of us had the veal medallions, and all three gave their dishes 7/10. The sommelier was very helpful in helping us choose a red wine (Bulgari)from a list of mostly Italian wines."
