Our creative menu focuses on fresh, local ingredients and chef-inspired, regional touches. A variety of small plates, sides and entrees are easily shared so guests can explore many options. Service includes breakfast every day of the week, brunch on weekends and late night dining.
""Michael" literally read the menu to me over the phone b/c we were running so late we knew the kitchen would close before we arrived... we had an amazing meal a little after 11pm, basically waiting for us... wonderful waitress and bartender... delectable entries ...cod over corn chowder, unique beet and goat cheese salad & i swear the croutons were made with marzipan, though i forgot to ask), perfectly cooked med-rare burger, and a scrumptuous lobster roll.. and the homemade chips arrived almost as soon as we sat down, as promised... desserts were equally impressive... we've stayed at the Lenox before and have only had breakfast, or late night drinks... but we'll be back to City Table for this kind of dinner!"

"The food was mediocre at best and the service was slow. We started with drinks which were delicious but took forever to arrive. For the price we paid for drinks, apps, and dinner it was not worth the money."

"The experience was fair. My filet was tender but a bit overdone. Others in the group were not impressed by the food. This restaurant is typical of restaurants connected to hotels."

"Overall, the food was pretty good. The soups were excellent, the gnocci a bit chewy. Service was very, very attentive, but we felt a bit rushed through our meal (the restaurant is small and was very busy). It can be noisy, but the tables are pretty far a part."

"We enjoyed a delicious dinner at this casual Back Bay "neighborhood" spot. While we have met friends for drinks and light bites before at City Bar next door to City Table (both are located off the main foyer of the Lenox Hotel), this was our first time eating at City Table. The beet salad was really fresh, colorful and yummy."

"Went for a quiet night out to celebrate with my wife. The food was good, the menu met our needs and the dining room ambiance was perfect. The service lacked in that we expected a better caliber of server than what we had. The server was not rude, but didn't appear to speak much English and made it difficult to ask questions about the menu."

"We love the history of the Lenox Hotel and they are always very accommodating. Not too crazy about the high chair seating or the bench seating. Much prefer being in the room which faces Boylston Street. I think it is a little more quiet. But I requested a seat near a window and they honored that request. I wish their lunch/brunch menu was more extensive especially on a holiday."

"Had a lovely Easter Sunday brunch at City Table. Service was outstanding and food was delicious. We had the Griddled Croissant French Toast with Bananas Foster and the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict. All were fabulous and the prices were reasonable."

"Great fancy brunch ambiance. Lots of space...which was nice, we didn't want a crowded bustling place on Sunday morning. Service was fine--our coffees and water were kept full which I always appreciate. Food choices were excellent, food itself was good. I don't say very good because my dish seemed to have been waiting a while before it was served--the hollandaise on the eggs benedict had a skin as if it had been sitting for a bit. But, nonetheless, it was very tasty. Perhaps that's how hollandaise gets quickly. I would recommend it to others for brunch."

"We had a very nice Easter brunch at City Table. Their standard brunch menu has standard fare and also entrees with a twist, and they had added several Easter specials. All three of our entrees were delicious. Service was great too."

"Ate there for Easter Brunch. They accommodated my gluten sensitive diet very nicely, but brought my daughter the wrong food item. The waiter was not great, but he managed just fine. Lots of little kids running around, but it was a holiday brunch, so...The food was good; the coffee was good; we had a nice meal."

"Food was great but our waiter was dis-interested in being there. We got a lot of water but really no service. He never gave us his name, he never checked to see if we needed anything, he was only handling 4 tables of 4 and he didn't bring out our food or clear the table. For these kinds of prices I expect better service especially when the restaurant in a prestigious hotel."

"City Table is not your typical hotel restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and the service is so friendly and professional, even the clientele are friendly. Lots of locals and tourists that are staying at The Lenox. Drinks are priced right and a good pour. A variety of menu items from casual to high end, All of which are great. Once you go, you'll become a regular."

"Our food was very good. My salmon was cooked perfectly and the sides were quite tasty. We got the duck spring rolls as an appetizer and the portions were a good size that can be shared, We went early so the restaurant was not busy and so it was quiet. I rated ambiance low because the Lenox hotel pumps in an over-powering fragrance of what I would say is gardenias and it was so strong that it made it hard to enjoy your food."

"the place was mainly empty and our table was ready. the server had no personality and maybe said 3 words to us. (no specials) the price of main course was resonable and first course also but portion were small for first course (Romaine salad is not $$$)
if the light is dee, why the print so small, it was impossible for anyone to read the menu give a small flash ligh, or print on white paper. The music was too crazy avant garde and we were the last table there, we had to get up and ask to change it or turn it down as they did.
i have been at the bar City Bar and it is been great, i guess I need to go back to the restaurant when it is busy and get a feel for the ambience. Hope it was helpfull. thank"

"The hostess say us promptly and the waiter was superb. The steak frites were excellent but the french fries were totally soggy and not crisp. We both ordered this entree and while it was excellent on the meat side the Frittes were less than memorable.
Overall this is an EXCELLENT spot to dine, reasonable prices, excellent presentation, timely service. Just cook the fries."

"Just great food. A fun, energetic place with very great food. There were four of us. We shared 3 great appetizers and we all more than happy with our entrees. Duck confit springs rolls were fabulous. Tenderloin perfect. Too bad we were visiting for weekend and don't even live in the same time zone."

"The food needs serious help here. They have a fantastic ambiance, great list of spirits. I assume the wine list is decent too, but frankly I didn't look at it. The service is fine. They need to seriously tone down the perfume they spray in the lobby of the hotel, it's way too strong and overpowering. But the most important thing they need to fix is the food. Bland salads and pastas floating in two inches of liquid sauce, bread that tastes like cardboard and meat and fish entrees drenched in butter. The chef needs to pay more attention to preparation. The Lenox hotel, where city table is located, is a historic landmark in Boston, it needs a restaurant that reflects that."

"It is very pricey for the quality food they give you. The menu items sounds wonderful and then when you get your plate, nothing wows you. For example, I got the sole with the butter sauce-- the fish was under seasoned and had a mushy texture. The fish was also not very fresh which is what you would expect for that price range. When we ordered dessert we had the apple crisp. It comes in a cast iron skillet -- the top was burnt and the bottom was totally charred -- to the point where the apples on the inside were black! It was inconceivable how we were served a dessert that looked charred already and when we tasted it was even worse. Apple crisp with black apples? We had to send the dessert back... Honestly, not impressed."

"We ended up at City Table during the blizzard of 2013 as not much else was open. We had a great experience. Good food, vibrant atmosphere, friendly efficient service and an absence of pretension which was refreshing. Only negative was that we thought the modern updated decor was out of place in the Lenox Hotel. We would have preferred something more in keeping with the hotel itself. But that aside, it was a great evening and we will be back."

"Conveniently located in the Back Bay area, in the Lenox Hotel. When I arrived for breakfast, there was no one at the reception area, so a server took me to my table. The food was solid and well-prepared, but nothing stood out as special. Interestingly, the blueberry pancakes had the berries sprinkled on top, not cooked inside the pancake. There was very little noise, but I was there for breakfast early on a weekend. There weren't many people in the restaurant at that time, but I still had to work to get my server's attention at time for coffee and such."

"A pleasant surprise. I read the good reviews so tried it and was very happy. I think begin part of a hotel holds it back a bit as far as being as popular as other restaurants in the area. Food was prepared very well with a diverse creative menu. Drink menu was very creative too. Portions are generous and prices, although a bit steep, are still not as steep as others in the area with equivalent quality."
