Jardiniere, opened in 1997, is housed in a beautiful landmark building in San Francisco's chic Hayes Valley neighborhood. Highlights of the elegant setting, designed by Pat Kuleto, include a gorgeous bar and stunning staircase. The highly refined and sensual food of Chef/Owner Traci Des Jardins is a celebration of Northern California's best seasonal bounty prepared with classic French technique. The J Lounge features a full list of specialty cocktails and wines, and offers a variety of creative lounge food and small plates. Its proximity to the theaters makes it an excellent place to dine before or after a show.

"An absolutely wonderful dining experience. Service was impeccable, drinks were banging. The menu was clear and percise. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. Our young daughters were all hips and eyes walking through the bar/lounge area so this will be a happy hour pitstop in the future. I recommend the Spring Lamb served 3-ways. The Acquerello Risotto was creamy and cooked on point - although a bit of heavy hand on the mint. The Braised Hen Lasagna very good but don't expect your Momma's style. Deserts were to die for. A wonderful Mothers Day dinner that had us comfortably out the door in time for the Ballet."

"Jardiniere does a fantastic prix fixe dinner which changes each week. There is a different theme each week, and the latest we enjoyed was Seis de Mayo, yes Mexican on 6th May. Five courses with wine pairings for $49 cannot be bettered in the City. Service of course is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.
The menus for the month are to be found on the website at the beginning of each month so you can decide where in the world your palate would like to go.
We have been several times for this Monday night meal and it never fails to impress. Try it, you can't go wrong!"

"We had a wonderful time! We went on a Monday, a prix fixe for Seis de Mayo.....the menu was amazing, each dish delicate and flavorful....we loved every bite and the special wine pairings were perfect. We also enjoyed the evening's special cocktail, "Thyme in Jalisco" which was unbelievable. The service is impeccable, professional and warm. "Nice old time sf spot near symphony, balet, etc... You could do better for similar or slightly less money at other places even in this area. Had duck recommended by waiter was by far the best of three mains we had. others were beef that was probably second best and halibut which was a little dry. they really push ordering sides which becomes apparent when ur main arrives which is mostly protein w other elements in miniscule portions they look like condiments. if u must go i would definately go by waiters recommendations. other recs that we ordered were diver scallop and warm artichoke bread salad w the bread salad being best of the two. desserts very good. If set on this neighborhood I would choose Rich Table or Absinthe over this place"

"We just love this place for dining before walking across the street to another wonderful evening with the San Francisco Symphony at Davies. Even if you don't have a reservation, bar seating is usually available and you can have either the full or bar menu. The other thing we like is the small portions with great variety that Jardiniere always serves. Service and food presentation are excellent and the ambiance is hard to beat, especially in Hayes Valley."

"Jardiniere is a wonderful restaurant. We have been there many times and it never disappoints. We go because it is very close to the symphony, but it is worth a trip on its own. Tracy Des Jardin is a excellent chef. Her food is sophisticated without being fussy. We believe it merits a Michelin star having dined at numerous one and two-star restaurants in both the US and France. The ambiance is lovely--one always feels it is a "special" night when there. If anyone is visiting SF, we think it would make for a memorable evening."

"We went on a Sunday night at 7PM. The place was half empty which was perfect for our group which is noise challenged. I asked for a quiet corner table which I got. "This was our first time here and although it was good overall it did not live up to our expectations. We had recently had a meal at Rich Table and the food there blew Jardiniere our of the water based on price and quality!!! The chicken my friend ordered at Jardiniere was dry compared to the chicken I had at Rich table which was melt in your mouth tender and juicy- the best I ever had. My duck at Jardiniere was very tasty and we did love our dessert! I also liked my Chowda."

"As repeat diners at this restaurant, we were very disappointed with our most recent experience. The waiter said that the menu had changed and he wasn't kidding: to petite portions. The entrees should be called "small plates." For $13, we received THIRTEEN peas for a side dish...one buck a pea!! A good restaurant charges prices equivalent to the service and food quality, but even yummy food doesn't justify these prices. Portion size should be a reason serving."

"Have always loved Jardiniere, the live music, great service, wonderful food. Perfect location for a delicious meal before a performance. However, since losing the dinner music and commencing the "new style" menu, which only lists the basic ingredients with side dishes ordered separately, it has also lost something of its sparkle. Although the food was tasty, our portions were very small, and we had to wait an inordinately long time for it with no good explanation for that. One member of our group tartly commented that TIP stands for To Insure Promptness. But why blame the server for prices that don't reflect the dining experience?"

"We attended a matched wine prix fixe dinner (Donkey and Goat Vineyard). There were three courses, and all were nicely matched to simple yet elegant entrees. The food was elegant and nicely presented. The ambiance at Jardiniere is always lovely. The service was a little bit spotty, but generally it was fine."

"Always passed by driving down Franklin and wondered about the place. Well no need to wonder it was fantastic. I had the duck and she had wagyu beef pasta. Mine was perfect, but her pasta was to die for. Easily the best dish I've tried this year. Corkage is waived with purchase of a bottle. Will definitely go again."

"We had an early reservation in anticipation to attend a performance and alerted both the hostess and our server and both acknowledged and assured we would be finished in plenty of time. However we did not get seated until almost 30 minutes after we arrived because they weren't completely set up or ready to receive us. Theb the food arrived very slow in comparison to many of the other restaurants we've patronized in the past. Overall, the experience wasn't quite satisfying for the group and the menu was over priced in comparison to the portion sizes in our opinion."

"I hadn't been there in 4 years. Food was stellar. Kampachi and sea urchin dishes unique and divine. Short ribs I've had before...but now I know why...melts in your mouth! Cauliflower risotto was extraordinary...and I normally detest cauliflower! Duck delectable, and deserts equally fantastic.
Wine and table service was great, attentive, crisp, helpful and engaging, but not chatty.
I will return before another few years elapse!"
