Opened in December of 2008, L'Artusi is the second step from the team that brought dell'anima to the West Village.
Chef/Partner Gabriel Thompson and Beverage Director/Partner Joe Campanale share their expertise in Italian Epicurean Hospitality on a larger stage. Featuring rustic cuisine, a crudo bar, specialty cheese program, private dining room, and a walk-in wine cellar, L’Artusi offers guests a variety of dining options and a warm, friendly vibe.
Our 110 seat restaurant, designed by Brooke Maples, features two floors of comfortable banquette seating, extended traditional bar, cheese bar and a chef's counter over-looking the open kitchen. Private dining opportunities are also available in our 2500 bottle walk-in wine cellar.
"This is the second time I've been to L'Artusi. The pasta dishes are excellent. I we had the pasta special - pasta stuffed with braised short ribs. Yum. The other dish was pasta with shrededed lamb meat. We had the scallops appetizer (uncooked sushi style) - that was tasty too. Then we had the rhubarb crumble for dessert. Overally, for about $200, you will get a very good to excellent meal with a bottle of wine."

"I had dined here a few months ago on a Saturday night and the food was so amazing that when I decided to host a friend's farewell dinner I thought it was a great choice. Unfortunately the food was very blah this second time. Nothing special at all. What a disappointment. Both my friend and I are foodies and dine out all over the city but L'Artusi is no longer on my list of go-to restaurants."

"This place is amazing. The ricotta appetizer is a thing to remember. The pasta was amazing, staff was very well trained and their wine list is just incredible. Everything is broken down into region of Italy with characteristics of the region and wine plus recommended food pairing. Seriously impressive. We had an amazing time and will be recommending this to anyone we know heading to NYC."

"L'Artusi is terrific. It was the 4th "top Italian" restaurant on our NYC culinary adventure (including Babbo and Blue Hill) and it was without question the best! My suggestion, sit at the bar and watch the kitchen in action. The wine list is both wide and deep divided into regions. It's a great value given it's relatively moderate price point."

"The chef prepares the offerings with a knowing hand. The menu is broken into distinct parts with multiple offerings in each. Given the ability to select from among the categories makes each course experience special. But beware of the balcony! If you are not part of a large group, ask to be seated elsewhere."

"As wonderful as the food is and the service, the noise level is ear splitting. You cannot carry on a conversation without shouting. No place to go with friends."

"This was my second dining experience at L'Artusi, and I loved the experience both times. My first experience was with three friends, and we ordered a few contorni. One was broccoli rabe, my favorite. I was so disappointed to discover there were onions in the dish, as they weren't mentioned on the menu, and I don't eat onions (not a picky eater, just don't like onions). I completely forgot this my second time and ordered it again. When you update your menu, would it be possible to state there are onions in the broccoli rabe? I believe others would want to know as well, though I'm hoping I'll remember next time.
Otherwise, a phenomenal experience, and I will be back, and continue to rave to my friends and family."

"Had brunch - Frittata and LArtusi Breakfast. Both meals were well prepared and tasted very fresh. Particularly liked the Frittata. Restaurant is relatively quiet at table seating capacity (the bar stools were empty). Waiter was efficient but very indifferent, no personality."

"I took four friends here that were visiting New York and we were all extremely impressed. We sat on the second floor in the back wine room which was beautiful. The wine list was like an encyclopedia, the food was delicious, and the server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was worth every penny and I will definitely be back!"

"Absolutely one of the best finds for food and service in NYC. We have been to the restaurant twice on recent trips to NYC. Enjoyed the Black Bass last night and beet salad which were both excellent. My daughter enjoyed the spaghetti and serving of 3 cheeses. She told me we had to go back to this restaurant as they had the best spagehetti. The service was excellent and they offered our main entry at no cost as they had overlooked the pasta and needed to remake it.... How about that for customer service! Reminded us of our great restaurants on Portland Oregon.... Fabulous food and service in a comfortable and warm atmoshere. Definately will return for another meal."

"My favorite restaurant in NYC. I have never had a bad experience at L'Artusi, which mathematically seems impossible given my frequency. Josh, who was our waiter, was beyond friendly and very helpful with the wine list. The roasted chicken is my favorite dish. I often wake up craving it, and it's consistency in quality flabbergasts me. Amazing jus and hen of the woods mushrooms that taste like bacon. The broccoli rabe side is always a good companion, and you must try at least ONE of the crudo. I had the escolar this time around and the melange of flavors blew me away. For dessert the hazelnut tart is a must have. The perfect dabble of sea salt. To die for."

"L'Artusi provides a lively atmosphere, superior service, and fresh food with flavor combinations that surprise and delight. One might think that a dinner of butter lettuce salad and spaghetti would be simple, but no - L'Artusi takes these to new heights. The salad sits like a budding flower on your plate (gorgeous! and it's LETTUCE!), and melts in your mouth like, well...butter. The fresh, delicious pasta is always a favorite, and the portion size is just perfect. Amazing wine selection, as well as wine-selection advice to complement your meal. Our only complaint of the night, rather minor, was that our Branzino dish was served a top a bed of olives that were a little too salty, and not quite enough fish to satisfy. But we'll be back!"

"Great Dining experience! We ordered the Ricotta cheese plate, Scallops crudo, Mushroom appetizer, Orichette (their pasta specialty), Carbonara (pasta special), and Grilled Octopus entree. The mushroom, orichette, and grilled octopus were outstanding! Orichette reminds me of the pastas I ate in Rome. The scallops, carbonara and ricotta cheese were good but nothing special. We ordered the Choco Hazlenut dessert. I recommend to to eat dinner at an earlier time. We came at 6:15 and later the restaurant is crowded and very loud. Ask to eat upstairs for an intimate setting. Tables for couples will be close together."

"Food was good but not exceptional. Service was not at all anticipatory as we found ourselves waiting for service much too often during the evening. Wine list is quite good, especially for Italian selections. The restaurant is constructed primarily with hard reflective surfaces so it's really far too noisy to have an intimate conversation. Overall it's good but not at all great. Too many superlative restaurants in Manhattan at every price point to go too far out of your way to dine at L'Artusi."

"Loved every bite! Our group of West Coast foodies shared the hamachi tartare, beef carpaccio, house-made ricotta (to die for!), citrus salad and four pasta dishes. Flavors were crisp, clear, perfectly seasoned, interesting and delish. Pineapple salsa on the ricotta? - genius! Topped off by chocolate budino and friendly, attentive service. We'll be back!"

"I don't usually respond to requests for feedback but I have to say, that the food at L'artusi was delicious. I am very particular about food and especially Italian food. he cheese selection was fresh and delicious, the grilled octopus was perhaps the best I even had. ame goes for the tagliatelle dish. Looking forward to returning. The waitress did a great job of choosing a bottle of red wine for us. ery enjoyable meal. The tables are a bit too close and I felt time the guy sitting at the next with a cold, was distasteful, but the food was excellent."

"L'Artusi has amazing pastas and a unique seasonal menu that allows the guest to mix and match various selections according to size plate and course. The service could not have been friendlier and more helpful. We had our daughter's wedding brunch there, then came back for dinner with friends at a later date. Two very different kind of experiences, but both were delicious, friendly, and unforgettable."

"Took my girlfriend on our 4 year anniversary dinner. It was a great end to the night. The restaurant was very classy and the mood lighting just added some nice intimacy to our date. We started out with the Prairie breeze cheddar, which was amazing. As an appetizer she had the roasted mushrooms, which were delicious and meaty and I had the scallops, which I wasn't a big fan of. They were just underwhelming. For our main course I had the orecchiette which is out of this world, and she had the carbonara special which was also pretty stellar. Desserts: Sticky pudding and the Hazelnut Chocolate cake were both sublime. No complaints here. Would come again for a nice intimate meal."

"The service was great, as was the atmosphere. I was a huge fan of the pasta (fettuccine nero) and appetizers (escolar and bay scallops), though I was not a fan of the braised lamb (a bit gamy) and polenta. All in all very good spot though!"

"My husband & I truly enjoyed our dinner experience. We arrived early and was promptly seated. The food was exceptionally very good, very fresh, high quality! We are in the food business ourselves and are very critical! Only slight disappointment was that the food was a little to salty for our liking and the portions sizes, a little smaller than what we expected. I would recommend this restaurant!Marie"
