"This was our 2nd visit to 1500 Ocean. The location is gorgeous whether dining inside or out. The menu is really lovely and interesting and a great wine list to match. We dined both times with our 5-year old son and all the staff was kind and accommodating towards him...yes, they have a very nice kid's menu too. The service, however, is what really puts this restaurant over the top and makes it a truly special experience. From the front desk, to the wait staff, to the chef who came table-side to serve a truffle risotto appetizer...everyone is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. We highly recommend a dinner at 1500 Ocean."

"1500 Ocean was amazing! We had early reservations at 6:30pm. It worked out perfect because we went to the bar at Hotel Del Coronado before to watch the sunset. So romantic. Great food. Great service. I would highly recommend and we already can't wait to go back!!"

"Innovative pork and beef rib eye presentations. Delicious! Sommelier recommended a great Cabernet (Coho) that didn't break the bank. Only one concern: Fresh oysters were served quickly, so I am afraid they were pre-shucked. Consequently, some were missing their liquor and were dry."

"We were on vacation and celebrating a birthday. I knew the view would be gorgeous but the food was great! Two young semi adventurous eaters deemed it the culinary highlight of their trip. Flavored were well thought out and everything married up well. Dessert was exciting with a much needed change of pace in selection and taste. Who knew curry ice cream could be so delicious. Staff was exceptional with the delight of having a personal meet and greet with the chef de cuisine. Outstanding."

"We were initially put off by the fact that there was a new chef and a new menu, but quickly forgot all about that when we started eating from it. The service was the best I have ever had. We ordered slightly off menu (from the old menu) and asked for a cheese plate and wine pairings for each course. The somelier came out and explained each pairing and was spot on. After the meal was over the new chef came out and met us which is always a special treat. All in all this place is amazing."

"I've wanted to try 1500 Ocean for a long time. I couldn't think of a better opportunity to come than for my husband's birthday. I booked the table & noted it was for a birthday. I called on the day of our reservation to confirm & ask for a table by the window. The hostess never once noted there would be a large event. It was clear from the moment we arrived that they were hosting a very large corporate conference. I was dismayed to find that the entire lawn in front of 1500 Ocean was set up for an event, including a large screen that blocked the view of the ocean. And the worst part? Having to listen to bad music and them announcing corporate awards throughout my dinner. I won't be back."

"I made this reservation for my parents who were celebrating their anniversary and staying at the hotel (the siblings paying for it). We heard they had a great dinner, really enjoyed the food, but they never mentioned that the restaurant acknowledged the reason for their visit. How about a dessert that has the words Happy Anniversary on the plate, like other upscale restaurants do? Nope, nothing of the sort. If I hadn't mentioned this reason (their anniversary) in my comments when making the reservation OR calling the restaurant ahead of time to make sure they read those comments, I might not have been so disappointed. My parents weren't expecting anything, but I was...Don't think I'll be going here nor recommending it to any friends."

"The restaurant: I liked the warm woods and layout of the tables. The green wingchairs are very comfortable but too low for dining.
Service: Personnel are very attentive.
Food: The menu reads like a very exciting list of creative dishes, but that is where it ends. The choices "for the table" are limited and our choice of duck liver pate was perfectly inedible for both of us - very heavy liver smell and taste. The salad was very fresh but was overdressed and the dressing was too sweet. We ordered the sea bass and scallops - both so-so. The sides are basically pickled veggies and not great. Overall, the food was medicore and not worth the money we paid. OK for people who are staying at the hotel - not worth a special trip otherwise."

"Nothing bad can be said about this restaurant. Great food and outstanding ingredients.
I didn't eat this well since I moved to the US.
The burrata was great and even better was the vitello tonnato. Interesting choice in terms of spiciness of the sauce and no doubt that there is no way you could find a better quality of veal.
Although the risotto was not a classic recipe was interestingly put together and the capers were a perfect ingredient to match with the lime and mint.
I didn't eat this well since I moved to the US.

"Was a little nervous going here because I was worried they would rely to much on the DEL name and not focus on the food. First of all the setting is great, with views of the Pacific Ocean. I liked the unique cocktails that the mixologist offered (it always makes for a better dinner to start with an original cocktail)... We did the full shmear with appetizer, salad and dessert. Stuck with the seafood for the entrees (bass and scallops) which were both excellent. Highly recommended."

"The restaurant is my absolutely favorite place to eat. Even my guest stated that is was her new favorite restaurant. We were greeted warmly as we walked in the door. I have had at least 5 different waiters/waitress over the past 6 months and each of them is uniquely skilled and service oriented. I had the roast lamb and charred Brussels sprouts for the first time, OMG, fantastic. I will be back soon."

"If Mark is your waiter - he is the best. Very helpful, attentive, low-key assistance. Location and view are spectacular. Pricey - so not an everyday place to go for dinner. Dinner for 2 with 3 drinks and only 1 desert was $200. Would definitely go back."

"I felt the restaurant provided great service and the food tasted very good, but for what you get for the price seemed very expensive to me. You pay for a plate of meat and no sides for a price where many places would be cheaper with including sides. The alcoholic beverages were also a bit pricey for the size of the glasses served in. The view was outstanding though because we had outdoor seating and we could view the sand and the ocean. Overall the experience was good. Just be prepared to spend at least a $150 for two."

"We brought our toddler. (5:30 reservation) She's great at restaurants, and loves real food. The kids menu was perfect for her! A flat iron steak with fork smashed baby tri colored potatoes and broccolini! She loved it. (She doesn't really love your standard pbj, Mac and cheese, or chicken fingers. She's a foodie already.) I had the salmon. Outstanding. My husband had the parpadele bolognese. Amazing! We loved the mix green salad. Beautiful presentation of food. Chefs brought out all of the food. Nice touch. "The food I enjoyed at 1500 Ocean we divine and decadent. Everything was mouthwatering and I wanted seconds! The size/portions were just perfect. The specials were amazing. The coffee and dessert were scrumptious! Our waiter was amazing and Chef Bobby is amazing. The cocktails were very good. The wine list amazing. 1500 Ocean is beautiful, clean, elegant, and just a perfect place to have an outstanding dinning experience. When I return to Coronado, I will go back to 1500 Ocean and hope for the same fantastic experience."

"Food and service was outstanding. The sea bass may have been the best we've ever had. The specials we tried were fabulous. Our waiter recommended the black sturgeon caviar and risotto with shaved truffle. Cocktails were plentiful and they offer anything you could ask for. In addition our favorite wine was available for dinner. Our waiter was Sebastian, he added greatly to the experience. He was very knowledgeable, attentive and added humor. We will ask to be seated in his section again."

My complanit about mayo in one of my dishes went un heard after I clearly told him I could not have that product.
