Upstream Brewing Company- Old Market
Since opening in 1996, Upstream Brewing Company has become well known for its great food, friendly service, terrific beer and casual upscale atmosphere. Featuring an extensive menu of new American pub fare including: Omaha’s best appetizers and thin-crust pizzas, pub favorites, superb steaks featuring hand cut “Omaha Steaks” beef, fresh fish, pasta dishes, main course salads, hearty sandwiches and, a great children’s menu. The fully stocked bars feature our award winning fresh, handcrafted beers and root beer on tap. An extensive wine list with over 100 selections has been recognized with multiple Wine Spectator Magazine Awards of Excellence. Large parties are welcome and we multiple options for seating large groups is available. Banquet rooms are also available. "I get to Omaha once year, and typically bring a few people to Upstream. It has great beer and a varied menu and a good atmosphere. I was bit bit surprised that my filet was overdone, and should have sent it back... I'm sure they would have responded courteously."

"Great waiter in the bar area! We were there for an early meeting and he didn't rush us. Then he took care of us for dinner. The hostess didn't ask my husband if we had an Open Table reservation since he arrived before me. She then cancelled our reservation when we were already on site. You may want to train the people a bit more on the process.

"I decided to make a change for Mother's Day Brunch and try Upstream. We've been going to Crave's for the last 4 years. Although I made reservations several months in advance, we were seated upstairs by the bar. We climbed massive stairs. My mom (senior citizen) exercises, she couldn't have made it up otherwise. The hostess said follow me and we did. We were confused at first -buffet wasn't set up upstairs yet. The food was good. Servers didn't explain anything until we asked. We will try a different restaurant next year."

"Have never had a bad experience at the Upstream. The food is great. Service and atmosphere too. The only thing I was disappointed in with my last visit is that they took the soy-glazed tilapia from the main menu -- forced me to go back to an old fave, the raspberry chicken! Bring it back!!"

"Made reservations on none of the busiest weekends of the year. I thought our large group may be an issue, but upstream nailed it.
Table was ready and waiting, our waitress handled the large group with ease and a smile.
Food was excellent, meatloaf, salmon, pot roast, hummus, calamari....we basically sampled the whole menu. All of it was delicious. Having eaten here several times at night, I will say the day chef is a champ. Food was the best I've had here in years.
As always the house brewed beers are fantastic. The Marzen seasonal was great."

"I took a few buddies from out of state to enjoy a Nebraska steak. We ordered 2 ribeyes the New Yorker and the 12 oz fillet. The food came promptly, the steaks were cooked perfectly (I made them all order MR), and the sides were plentiful and really delicious. Especially the Parmesan, tomato and lemon vin. salad with my NY. The service was fine; not too much but not to little. Nothing outstanding however. I also ordered the scotch ale, which I found to be quite decent and a good pair with my steak. I will go back."

"The food was very good, but service was not the best. We ordered an appetizer and the waiter asked to take our dinner orders at the same time. We asked that he come back later for that, which he did. The appetizer came about a minute before the main dish, but they did take them back to the kitchen. We felt a bit rushed all night. Reservations were for 8:00 pm, so the need to turn the table should not have been that great. Overall we were happy with Upstream, but not as excited leaving as we were coming in."

"We had a really bad dining experience on Easter morning at Upstream at the Old Market. We had the brunch buffet. There never really was enough food. Customers were watching the buffet like a hawk to get the new stuff because as soon as they brought it out, it was gone. Then there was the food itself. Other than the breads and fruit, really nothing was good. In fact, most of it was substandard at best. For $16.95, Upstream should be ashamed for serving that sort of food. The waitstaff was extremely overworked so we would see our waiter but he had a hard time remembering what we asked for. Our table was too small so we were piled with extra plates because our waiter kept forgetting to come back for them. Friendly waiter, but couldn't keep up."

"My son from Chicago was in for a visit and he wanted to visit a micro-brewery. Had a resrvation and we were seated promptly at 5:30. The only issue was that there were larger groups eating and they were served 1st so they could go to Lion King. We waited quite awhile to get our food. Once it came, the food was great. Not the waiter's fault, just a HUGE backup in the kitchen."

"very diverse menu and it all tastes pretty good. Our party of 4 had pot roast, fish and chips, jumbalaya and tuscan chicken salad. Good food, not a destination place for foodies, but neither were the prices. Upstairs pool tables were a hoot. I was surprised to see the restaurant nearly full and several tables occupied by families with children under 12."

"I took my GF here for a dinner date recently and had a very nice time. The food was great, the server was awesome and the overall experience was wonderful. I would say I would recommend this restaurant to others and I can say I will go back in the future! My only complaint is that the menu selection was kinda weak. One page was food the other side was beer. That's it. There wasn't all that much to pick from in my opinion. Other than that it was an awesome experience!"

"The food at the Upstream is usually amazing. The night we went (Valentine's Day) the food tasted good, but it was all only lukewarm at best. It was like they prepared a bunch of stuff ahead of time to avoid having long wait times for food later, but unfortunately nothing was warm enough when it reached the table! If you're going to go, avoid holidays and busy times and you will be in for a treat. The spinach artichoke dip is my favorite!"
