In Japanese, "chotto" indicates a small unit of measure. An informal term used in a wide variety of casual situations among friends, chotto can mean "a little," "for a moment," "excuse me," or to soften the sound of a request.
Chotto's small, shareable plates are crafted using a combination of Japanese staple ingredients and fresh products from local farms, ranches, and fish markets, prepared using Japanese techniques and cooking methods.
Our beverage program is similar to our cuisine in that we will have a selection of "chotto" by the glass drinks. We will feature fresh, unique cocktails made with Japanese sake and shochu, as well as an international selection of wine and beer.
"The food at Chotto (all spectrums of the very interesting menu) is creative, delicious and above and beyond the local marina japanese restaurants. The modern interior and good music creates a great ambiance. They are constantly adding new items to their menu, and I urge you to step out of your shell and try something new--chances are that it will be extraordinary."

"Great service! Outstanding specialty rolls. Not a traditional sushi menu but all their offerings were unique and creative. Tons of flavor! Will definitely return."

"Perfect Japanese Izakaya. Amazing food, really helpful bar staff, perfect spot for a date night or dinner with friends. Make sure you get the Karaage with Japanese mayonnaise, and the beef yakitori! Yum!"

"We had a 6:30 reservation, so the noise level was fine. This was my first visit, and I suspect that the noise would be intolerable for me a little later. That said, I'd brave it to order the spicy hamada again. Outstanding."

"consistent excellent izakayq fare. Decent sake selection, lots of sochu (but I'm less familiar or interested). Service is always great, food comes right from the grill-small so reserve a table or come prepared for a wait on popular eating out nights. the coarse cut hamachi with greens is very good, the ramen fresh. Did t think I would like bacon mochi but it was an experience! duck breast and pork belly cooked to perfection and the veggie / salad options are creative, fresh and absolutely delicious. beans and spinach with sesame sauce 2 ways!"

"This was a delicious little place in the Marina. The menu is set up as small, shared plates. The ramen is excellent and I would highly recommend ordering it. The only downside is that my husband and I felt rushed in our dining experience. I think it's that the dishes are prepared quickly (perhaps because they are small?) and come out one on top of the other, so you don't necessarily get to relish your dining experience. Next time I would ask them to slow it down a bit. But other than that, amazing!"

"Excellent food and service. Very well priced. Interesting twist on small plate Japanese dining with an European (French/Spanish) flair. Same with the cocktails. We will be back soon."

"The most innovative menu I've experienced in some time. The bacon mochi dish was to die for. The hamachi tartare as well -- and the service, outstanding! The ambience was "smoky" without actually being smoky (like it was almost out of an old movie...) and the wait staff gave us great recommendations."

"My first visit to Chotto was on a busy Saturday night, the service was so-so and they were out of many of their popular dishes (bacon mochi, short rib etc.) The staff was unapologetic. Initially turned us off.
Second visit on a quiet Tuesday night. Had a 5 course tasting menu. Food was excellent and was a nice way to try several of their best menu items.
Both times was pricey - $80-$100 for a couple."

"Was a quiet Monday night, they close at 10:00 and we arrived at 9:45 (late flight) but bar tender Adam made us feel welcome and unhurried, provided tastes of several new-to-us sakes, made excellent food suggestions and dispensed a fun and inviting experience. Will definitely return to try other tempting dishes !"

"We had a 5 course prix fixe menu of sashimi salad, bacon-wrapped mochi, two day miso-soaked black cod with mushrooms, grilled skirt steak with brussel sprouts and garlic fried rice, and sweet potato donuts with caramel and black sesame icecream. Everything was very delicious and filling. The bacon-wrapped mochi is one of their famous dishes - the bacon on the outside is very flavorful and crunchy while the mochi is slightly chewy and flavorless. A unique combination. The service was great and there weren't a lot of people there so they were very attentive. I'd definitely recommend the place."
