Known for manning the stoves at high-end restaurants Rex and Vincenti, Chef Gino Angelini is dishing out quality Italian fare at his own place. Even the most been-there-ate-that gourmand will savor the simple, yet sublime starters, from the paper-thin pizzas to the steamed mussels and clams bathing in a garlic-infused broth. Nonna Elvira's green lasagna is a dozen layers of bliss with blankets of pasta enveloping a mild cheese. Continue with a deliciously soft, moist branzino (salt-encrusted sea bass), or a pork chop sided with braised red cabbage. Desserts deserve special attention, such as a buttery mascarpone, or a scoop of vanilla gelato with a shot of steaming espresso.
"My husband and I have been trying to go to Angelini's and found that getting dinner reservations is difficult. We have found a solution: go for lunch. We shared a pizza with burrata and fresh tomatoes that had a great oozy topping mingled with the fresh tomatoes on top of a crisp perfectly charred crust. We shared the turbot for two which was one of the most amazing pieces of fish I have eaten. It was prepared in a large roasting pan layered with potatoes that got crispy on top with cherry tomatoes, onions and olives. It had the most delicate flavor, sweet and moist. We had plenty of leftovers to take home and ate them over the weekend. We shared a marscapone cream with amaretti crushed cookies that made a perfect ending."

"Heard good things about this place so took clients for lunch. Service was not good. At one point the server put a dish in front of one of my clients. It sat there for 3 minutes and they than realized it was for another table so the took it and gave it to another table without even asking it he ate from it. Our waiter was barely by the table to see how we were doing. You could tell the "regulars" got treated better. My food was Luke warm at best. Have to say I was overall disappointed with this place."

"Went there for my birthday last night and loved every moment of it. Great wine, scrumptious food, attentive staff - what else could I ask for. We'll definitely be going back."

"Angelini Osteria remains one of the top Italian dining spots in town. Order anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed. The green lasagna is a signature dish and the pumpkin tortelli melts in your mouth. Service is impeccable. Only complaint is that the dining room is small and the tables are a bit cramped. But I'm willing to put up with that for incredible food."

"This has the feel of an authentic trattoria and may be the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. It is so popular that it is always crowded, lunch and dinner, and is my only complaint--at dinner, it feels like you are squeezed in like a sardine."

"We had a late New Year's celebration on January 2nd and thorougly enjoyed, though I expected to be more "wowed" based on the reviews. The scallops were excellent and the Steak Tagliata was the best I ever had ... the Rib Eye was amazing. The salt-crusted branzino is supposed to be the end-all, but my friend did not think it was nearly as good as my steak. Not a place to go for a romantic evening ... but really rather to enjoy excellent Italian food."
