"We sampled oysters and pate for appetizers, followed by chicken cordon bleu and tuna tartare with a creme brulee to end the evening. All meal choices were tasty and well prepared. By choice, we ate at the bar and received friendly, helpful and excellent service from Alicia. We love this place!"

"This is not my first visit to Petit Robert so I did not have outlandish expectations. Nevertheless I was disappointed by the experience. My wife and I both agreed that our fish based meals were overcooked and dry. In my case, the scallops were a bit rubbery from being over done. The meager amount of sauce on my dish failed to ehance the rice (which was in fact well prepared but a bit on the tasteless side).
As with any bistro I expected an "energetic" atmosphere but frankly I could not hear the conversation across the table. Alas it was Saturday night...
I do not wish to be over critical this place has a lot of atmosphere and good intentions. However, this dining experience was just sort of OK."

"The food was fabulous! It was very authentic, reminding me of our honeymoon in Paris. I had the onion soup, duck, and the floating island for dessert--all were superb. The service was wonderful; our waitress really knew the menu and offered some great suggestions. We plan on going back soon!"

"I come to the Boston area regularly on business and stay in Needham. My husband had dined at the Petit Robert in Kenmore Square, and really enjoyed it. Imagine my delight to discover that it is also in Needham. It is a lovely popular neighborhood restaurant with delicious cuisine and wonderful service. A work companion and I went together for the first time and we had a delightful evening."

"This was my first time at Petit Robert, but I had heard good things about it and I was not disappointed---to the contrary! The servers worked as a team, supporting each other seamlessly and very professionally. The food was excellent, and we relied somewhat on the recommendations of a couple of the servers. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend it and would love to return for dinner."

"This restaurant could be so much better if the food was actually good. It has a great, casual, upbeat atmosphere, service which is good enough but the food is never very good--and it could be. My suggestion is that they taste it season it--do something--before they give it to customers! Please!! It is always bland and mediocre!!"

"This was our first time tryiing this outpost of Petit Robert. We had a gracious welcome, and very good service. The ambience was very nice, and it was a pleasant place to eat a meal, not too loud, and perfect for a restful evening of convivial conversation. Unfortuately, the food was not up to snuff. The two fish dishes we had were both overcooked, and the sauces on both the coq au vin and boeuf bourguignon were overly thickened, and somewhat unappetizing. We may try it agin, and hope it was just an off night."

"Overall quality of food is very good.the salads, escargots and mussels are excellent. One member in our party had the duck confit, which was crispy, dry and a bit salty.A suggestion would simply be a duck breast a la orange or with blueberry sauce or a wine reduction sauce.

"We had made a reservation and waited just a few minutes to be seated. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. The romaine salad was excellent, dressing was light and tasty. One of our party ordered the sole special and the rest of us made other entree choices which we all enjoyed. Two of us decided to share the strawberry dessert special and the other two in our party shared the bread pudding. Portion sizes for entrees and desserts were very generous. We mentioned that the two women in our group were sharing a birthday and the waiter brought 2 candles in our dessert which was very thoughtful. The room was a little loud but overall it was a very enjoyable experience and we would return."

"Terrific, authentic French Bistro in Needham, of all places. Petit Robert Bistro is always wonderful. The menu is imaginative, served beautifully and divine from start to finish including the warm French bread and sweet butter. The staff is always polite and attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable, from the greeting as you walk in to the goodbye when you leave. Ample parking is available in the huge lot to the left of the restaurant and reservations are recommended. My favorite restaurant."

"I went for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. It was a busy Easter Sunday but service was great. The server was quick and attentive. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which was delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly and went well with the salmon, making it a very well-rounded brunch meal. I tried some of the quiche which was a bit heavy on the goat cheese, but nevertheless had a great time. I recommend this place for brunch and would go again."

"Unfortunately our evening was undone by an incorrect order. Whether the server ordered or the chef made the wrong item, a member of our party recieved the wrong meal. No apology was made or recompense offered to us. Overall the food was okay but for the price, I would have expected it to be on bar with similar Boston restaurants. Mixology at the bar was a little off. Overall, the experience was disappointing and we won't return."

"We went for brunch with my husband's parents and cousin who were in town, and it was delicious. I had the chicken crepe, which was extremely flavorful without being too heavy. Others in my party ordered the baguette french toast (I had a bite, it was so yummy!), omelets, or salads, and all were happy with their meals. My one criticism is that my 2-year-old son got his meal served LAST and was VERY antsy watching the adults get served one by one. Yes, I had brought snacks for him, but it's still hard for a kid that age to watch everyone else eat. He did, however, eat almost all of his kiddie croque monsieur and I appreciated that it was served with fries AND a side salad; so many restaurants don't serve vegetables with kids meals!"

"We had a very nice Sunday dinner at Petit Robert Bistro. Having been there once before, we knew what to expect. Good food at a reasonable price, quality service in a comfortable setting. A real neighborhood spot that seems to keep its clientele (mostly on the older side, I believe) happy."

"We love this restaurant! Our waiter was especially wonderful - he is French and was incredibly creative with his suggestions, for example when I have the opportunity to eat French food my preference is to get just appetizers-- fois gras, escargots, and pate -- rather than an entree and he suggested the best order to serve them. Our friends, both local and from out of state, were thrilled as well."

"Dined both on a weekend and week night and both times the ambiance resembled a lively bistro where people were enjoying themselves. Wonderful food - French twists but not as heavy as traditional French cooking. The last time, two of us ordered one of the evening specials and we all ordered the evening's special dessert. Meals include a healthy serving of starch and vegetable and the salads are magnificent. Wait staff was fun and very attentive. Petit Robert will definitely be on my list of "go to" restaurants."

"Once again we had a wonderful meal at Petit Robert Bistro. We were greeted warmly upon entering the restaurant and showed to our table immediately. The service was friendly, efficient and very helpful when we had a question.
The food was fabulous. We all chose the scallops for diner and each of us thought that they were cooked perfectly and the Normandy sauce was delicious. Love everything about this restaurant!"

"I know that French food may mean a lot of butter- it was a bit too much- of course a college starving kid loved every minute of it. I did not care for the cheese selection choice, the plate was not appealing with3 little bites of cold cheese and some bruised lettuce on the side. The service was very nice though and the soup amazing"
