A neighborhood staple, The Standard Grill is classic New York meets new American cuisine. The front café, bar and street-side bistro is clean and bright with white oak and tile décor and features fresh oysters, speciality cocktails and charcuterie. The main dining room is cozy, old-world with red leather banquets, barrel vaulted ceilings, and a floor paved in copper pennies. . I will go back with out of town guest because of the proximity to the highline.

"I visited the Standard Grill with my mom and sister for breakfast while visiting NYC for a weekend. The restaurant was SO cute and fun - we immediately loved it! The round booths were awesome & we were so happy to sit in one! The eggs benedict was one of the best we have ever had & we just enjoyed sitting and having a leisurely breakfast while watching the activity outside the open doors! It was a top notch experience, and we would definitely go back and would also definitely recommend it to anyone else! When we made the reservation, we told them it was our mom's birthday so they told her happy birthday as soon as we arrived and made her feel that it was her special day so that was very sweet."

"This was my third time, the last time was christmas eve , and everything was as it should be, the drinks the food and the waiters, I must return every time I am in NY, and I recommend it to all I now.

"Came here as a party of 6 to celebrate my graduation. Reservation was at 2. We sat in the inside dining room, which had maybe 3 tables seated. Waitress, while nice, was hardly ever seen. Drinks and food took much to long to come to us.1 in our party ordered the mussels - waitress took a half hour before telling us they were 86ed, at which point the person had to order something else. All said, it was not until over an hour after sitting down to our table that we saw our entrees (only two ordered appetizers - we were never asked if we wanted everything to come out together, as should have occurred). Due to the slow service, we were not done until close to 4. For lunch, this should not happen. Lunch should be an hour and a half, tops."

"I've been to the Standard Grill a few times now. The food is always good; the service varies between very good and a bit inattentive (depending on who covers your table and how busy things get); the venue and crowd are fun yet pretty laid back. The outdoor seating is nice in the summer. It definitely pays to have a reservation - I've seen countless people turned away (generally foot traffic who decide that it might be nice to come in)."

"We ate here for Mother's Day brunch. It was a chilly day outside and for some unknown reason the a/c was cranked up on high. It was freezing and everyone was eating with their coats on. Our waitress was distracted, unfriendly, and M.I.A.

"Took my mother to the Standard Grill for brunch. We both had the Classic Eggs Benedict and it was really tasty. Both the Orchard Bellini and Standard 69 drinks were delicious!
The waiters could have been a more attentive. We liked to have something else to drink after our cocktail but we couldn't get the attention of the waiters so we ended up just drinking water. None came and asked during the whole meal if it was fine, if we wanted something else and even getting the check was hard. Finally I just grabbed another waiter and asked for the check. Felt like the waiters were just walking around without looking at the customers after they picked up the first order."

"Far too noisy, we were prepared for noise but this was redicuolus. They really need to make an effort to reduce the noise level in the dining rooms. We were not even able to talk to each other over the table. We had a very bad experience with too long waiting times as well. We waited two hours for our food. We were'nt even offered a reduced fee, we had to complain loudly for them to consider a reduced fee (which we finally got). Will never visit them again. It is a tourist trap if you ask me. They have far too many guests than they can serve."

"I had some Londoners in town for a few nights and our dinner at The Standard Grill was by far the best(we had even been to a Michelin Star rated restaurant one of the nights). From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and informed that there would be a small delay on our table, no problem, 5 mins wait was all it ended up to be. We were promptly seated and had no issues adding a friend to our table. Grilled Octopus, Lamb and Swordfish were our favorites. The wine list is very good and easy to read. The service was very good, our Server was a little busy but his colleague jumped in to help a few times, which was great. There's a great vibe in the restaurant and you are made feel well looked after. Way above standard."

"Went to TSG at 10:30pm on a Monday night on a last-minute reservation and was very pleased. Excellent ambiance (lighting, decor, table settings, sound level, dining room layout, etc.). The Monday night special of Duck meatballs made a perfect appetizer for 2. Rib eye for 2 was on par with the best we've had in NYC. The "Deal Closer" dessert of chocolate mousse was nothing short of epic. Our server Sina was awesome as well. I would probably avoid TSG on weekends because the sheer volume of guests would probably ruin the experience but TSG is well worth the trip to Washington St."

"I suprised my wife with taking her to the Standard Grill for her birthday and we enjoyed our dinning experience. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Their wine sommelier was very helpful in choosing our wine selection. The restaurant is very busy and noisey. The food presentations were done well."

"This was the first time i had been to the Standard Grill and was looking forward to taking my parents, who were in town for the week. Mixed feelings about this place. while the ambiance is buzzing and the space is well done up, it was a little crowded for dinner. So many people at the bar, waiting to be seated, tables close together - it felt a little packed. Food wise, my dad and fiance raved about the suckling pork they had, and it was good. But my burger was mediocre. nothing special and a bit burnt. Overall it was good, but not somewhere i would rush back to."

"We were seated 30 minutes past our 8:30 reservation on a Sunday evening. The food was good,not exceptional. The waiter was very nice. However,in the middle of our dessert and after dinner drinks the manager came over to us and told us we had to leave. We were incredulous. He told us they needed the table for another party. When we said we were in the middle of dessert, he said: "Too bad, you have to leave. You can only stay for 1 hr 15 minutes and I need the table." I would never go back. It is very clear they don't care about their customers, only about money. In a city of many fabulous restaurants, this one is worth skipping."
