Flagstaff House
Chef Mark Monette has been responsible for the culinary delights at the Flagstaff House since 1985. His unique style of cooking incorparates French cuisine with Asian accents, brought together by his training in several michelin three star restaurants in France and the Orient. Mark has worked with several master chefs including Bernard Hermman and Thomas Keller. At the Flagstaff House chef Mark has had the pleasure of preparing a special menu for the Emperor and Emperess of Japan as well as the Prime minister of Japan and his foreign ministers. The restaurant has also hosted many dinners for notable culinary dignitarties including Paul Bocuse, Angela Gaja and Robert Mondavi. The Monette family has owned the Flagstaff House since 1971. The restaurant holds many prestigeous awards including Colorado's longest holding Wine Spectator Grand Award. Please note our dress code prohibits shorts, t-shirts and athletic attire.

"I took my two college age sons to dinner. I can't think of enough words to describe how wonderful the experience was. We had the corner table overlooking Boulder and up into a park. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful view at sunset (including the wild bear running around on the hillside). From the moment we arrived we were taking care of quiety, efficiently, and thoroughly. Each dish was an amazing blend of flavors, perfectly prepared. The small dishes that were brought in-between courses were a surprise and only added to the delight. Even my son who is a picky eater enjoyed the food! Sauces were light but full of flavor. I needed a gluten free meal & that was no problem. It was a special evening."

"We took our twin boys to the Flagstaff House to celebrate their High School Graduation. It was a wonderful experience. They acknowledged the graduation and brought out a beautiful sugar sculpture to our table to celebrate. The waiter was thoughtful and gracious when we declined any alcohol, and suggested sparkling water. The food was fantastic as was the service. The view was spectacular and we will celebrate other big events there in the future. Each time in the last 33 years that I have been to the Flagstaff house (starting with my senior prom in 1980!) it has been a fantastic experience. Thank you for treating your guests so well."

"The Flafstaff used to be my 'once a year' great dining experience. My recent experience tells me that some changes have taken place. Some of them subtle (the hare statue with those cute appetizers on, the cake given to the lady after dinner). The wine list is now inside an iPAD, which is helpful but the winr selection has drastically changed towards the high end. Gone are the days when I could browse that multi page wine list and find great deals on old wines. Overall the whole atmosphere has become less cosy and more business like and cold. The owners may have choosen for the option of maximizing their profits. As a result, I am no longer interested to go back and drop $200 per person."

"We were the first ones to arrive after the CU graduation, 1/2 hr early but you were ready. You seated us in the best table in the house and had the champagne ready for us. Melonie the wine steward choose the best champagne for us, we were hot and tired and it tasted like nectar. Everything was perfect, from the service to the food, I have never spent 500 dollars on a meal but it was well worth it. a memorable experience. My son wrote on his face book , " the classiest place I've ever been."

Though the location and restaurant is beautiful and out of the world, the one thing that amazed me was the service. I would rate 100% for their focus on Customer satisfaction. Not to mention, I was even ready to write off 50% as tip to the waiter who was too exceptional."

"My wife and I were celebrating our 3rd anneversary and I chose to suprise her with dinner at the Flagstaff house. Neither of us have ever dined there so, it was a first for both of us. We left having one of the best dining experiences we have ever had and we would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for a top-notch dining experience."

"The Flagstaff House lived up to its reputation. It's expensive but well worth it for those who are looking for an exceptional dining experience. We were served by a knowledgeable, friendly, professional wait person and staff, and an unpretentious, expert sommelier. Everything was prepared to perfection. It was a memorable meal with a spectacular view overlooking the night lights of the city. We would recommend it for that special occasion or simply an extravagant adventure into some of the finest food in Boulder."

"Great place. Great food. Prepare to spend money though. The only reason for a 3 on ambiance was because our table had a view of the tool shade. 4 stars for service only because the back staff left a little to be desired as far as being personable. Server was amazing. Perfect timing on each course. Love getting the samples between course."

"The Flagstaff House was an amazing experience. The manager Joel was so accomidating and helpful in my plan to propose to my girlfriend. The whole staff was aware of my plan and played along with as to not give anything awat to my girlfriend. The setting was perfect the ambiance was amazimg, the food was exceptional and the service was fantastic. I am so happy thag I chose the Flagstaff House as the location for this important day for both my now fiancee and myself and I am lookimg forward to returning to the Flagstaff House for anniversaries and special occasions. Thank you Flagstaff House staff for all of your hard work and help in making this night special!!! You guys rock!!!!"

"The service and view were spectacular and this is definitely a special occasion restaurant. No request seemed a bother (two of us split a main course and one person in our party requested a dish without one of the ingredients and these were perfectly acccomodated) and our meals were delicious. The buffalo mignon was particularly good, although the Wellington wrap around it did not add to it and was best removed. There was a loud, large party next to us, but that was not the fault of the restaurant. Only misses were the chocolate truffles, which tasted pretty earthy. Don't miss the liquid valhrona chocolate cake!"
