"We had been for lunch and wanted to try their dinner menu. While it pretty well covers all the standard Italian bases, there wasn't anything that just really grabbed us. It's all done well and is obviously popular, being packed on a Wednesday evening. Just not sure we'll be in a rush to return. We ate outside on a perfect evening, which was very pleasant, but inside it's the loudest restaurant we've ever been in - a normal-voice conversation would have been impossible. The waitress said it's always that way."

"On a recent visit to Charlotte on a house-hunting trip, we happened upon this little restaurant. We were warmly welcomed with a complimentary appetizer and glass of champagne to welcome to Charlotte! We were very impressed with the hospitality, the service, and the food. I would highly recommend this Italian restaurant. We are going back this weekend for our 22nd anniversary this weekend, having since moved to Charlotte. Can't wait!"

"My family was in the SouthPark area near 5:00 pm so we looked fora nearby Italian place and found Toscana. The wait staff was very attentive and the ambiance was upscale casual. Just what we were looking for.
The menu variety was awesome, seafood, veal, pollo, along with great appetizers. Prices were moderate, but the flavor was excellent - so I rate it as a good value."

Excellent bread and bean "dip", nice break from typical oil & vinegar
Soft-shell crab appetizer was top notch.
Osso-Buco best I've ever had, melts in mouth good.
Risotto was under-cooked and hard.
Wife ordered halibut, fish was overcooked and we are about 99% sure they actually served sea bass instead as the filet was tough, did not fall apart like halibut, and had a sea bass taste, did not bring this to attention of server.
Torta was good for desert as well.
Small inside, compact, noisy, have to nearly yell to speak to person at table.

"My 85 year old mother was visiting us from Indiana and I wanted to take her somewhere "special" for dinner. This was the place! She loved it! The only complaint we had was the noise level. There was a VERY noisy party of six across the restaurant from us that must have been eating (and drinking) there for probably a couple hours. When they left , it was MUCH quieter. I think this would be a perfect place on a week night. It's a small restaurant and obviously a popular one. The mussels were plump and delicious, the fish dishes superb and probably the best tiramasu I have ever eaten. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"Went there for my wife's birthday and had a great experience from the moment that we sat down. Booked through OpenTable and specifically mentioned that it was a birthday dinner. The staff treated us very well and brought her champagne to mark the occasion as soon as we sat down. Dinner was not rushed and we really enjoyed the food. Was a tad difficult to find after parking so I would suggest some directions or indication that it is on the inside of a courtyard."

"We have been to Toscana a number of times, but had not been there for over a year. It was our anniversary and we were anticipating a big evening. Toscana did not disappoint. The restaurant was very crowded, and we had to wait for a few minutes. The wait was a bit uncomfortable, as the small bar area was very full and there is really no other place to wait. Fortunately, we got a great table, so the short wait was soon forgotten.
Our server was attentive, but not intrusive in any way. The timing of service was excellent, as there was no rush and we enjoyed each step or course of our evening. We ordered salads which were a nice size and fresh. Our entrees were the stuffed veal chop and Mahi Mahi. Both were served hot and were delicious"

"My wife and I went to Toscana to celebrate her birthday. We went with another couple. We were late for our reservation, but called ahead and they were able to accomodate us on the outside patio. It was a beautiful evening, so the outdoor courtyard area with the fountain was an enjoyable setting.
The food was very good, but not over the top. This is my common experience with Toscana - I always feel like we have a good meal, but it never feels like an over-the-top experience. Just good food, consistently.
Our service was average at best. In our previous visits to Toscana, service has always been good and we never thought about it twice. This time, we were tracking down our waiter to order and waiting for food longer than usual..."

"This is the first really good Italian restaurant we've been able to find in North Carolina. The restaurant was very cute and vibrant. Our waiter was excellent, made terrific suggestions of food and wine, and greatly added to our overall experience. The food was also terrific. "Dinner and service were outstanding. My fish dish with roasted tomatoes and spinach was a perfect flavor combination. My husband's stuffed veal chop was extraordinary - moist and rich. We questioned our waiter about a wine, and he asked us to describe our wine tastes. He suggested a different wine in the same price range which was fabulous."

"It was our first time here, and it was wonderful! Our waiter, Franco, was fabuluous. He helped us sort through the menu, making recommendations. The atomosphere was intimate and gave you the feeling that you were sitting in a restaurant in Italy. I would highly recommend Toscana for more reasons than one!"

"We were in Charlotte for the day and decided to eat at Toscana. Osso Bucco might appear on other menus, but the dish is difficult to cook correctly. The Osso Bucco at Toscana was outstanding! The meat fell off the bone and a small appetizer fork was left for the marrow. The chef really knows how to cook this dish! As for the service, Toscana is outstanding. Let me give you an example: At most restaurants the waiter attends your table and that's it. As Toscana, it didn't matter which server was passing by; if anyone saw a dish needing to be bussed, a water glass half empty, or anything else that needed attending, they took care of it as if it were their own table. This type of customer centric service is exceptional!"

"We had another wonderful dinner - we've never been disappointed! The service was very attentive without being invasive. Food was excellent - their penne with veal and porcini mushrooms was perfect with a delicious bottle of Brunello di Montecino. The salmon was cooked medium rare for my husband just as it should be. They acknowledged that we used Open Table with a complimentary dessert. Very nice touch with our cappuccino. Will be back as soon as possible."

"Toscana lived up to its reputation for its wonderful food. My girlfriend had the buttera and it was absolutely delightful. The white bean spread as an appetizer was great, the only thing I did not like was it was very loud. There was a group of guys there and they were very loud and it was hard to carry on a normal conversation. Other than that I would recommend to check it out"
