"We recently returned to Alloro for a meal, which we try to do whenever we are in the neighborhood, and were saddened to learn that it will close soon. Hard to understand, the food is excellent, and the room was packed. It will definitely be a loss for the neighborhood - we can only hope they'll open another one closer to where we live downtown. I certainly hope so. Thank you, Alloro, for several memorable meals."

"I had the branzino which was covered in a few strange sauces that didn't really work. My wife had a raviolo dish that was tasteless and slightly tough. Food just wasn't very good. Service was very nice. Room was outdated and in need of renovation. There are better Italian restaurants in the neighborhood."
"We returned to Alloro with neighborhood friends. This cozy UES Italian restaurant is always welcoming and always wonderful. Wild boar ravioli, pasta prepared INSIDE a giant wheel of cheese plus gluten free penne provided everyone with the perfect meal. We rounded it off with a reasonably priced Super Tuscan red wine. Everyone went home full and happy."

"A rarity in NY--a family owned restaurant where the chef/owner is actually there. It shows. Excellent and always interesting takes on Traditional Italian dishes prepared with imagination. Atmosphere cozy. If you're interested in wine, try the white[!] Falanghina. Something new. Highly recommended."
