"We were a large party of 8. The waiter, Jacob, was professional, friendly and readily agreed to split our complicated check situation up front. Everyone enjoyed their food, although my trout dish had not been de-boned properly and had to be sent back. I don't like sending food back because after waiting you end up eating when all others in the party are done. The 2nd time my dish was brought out it was de-boned properly and was delicious. Just too high priced even with this nice atmosphere and there are so many good restaurants to compete with downtown.Jacob did a very nice job serving our table."

"We love to dine at Oceanaire and it has been our "go to" place for special occasions. I love it that we receive printed and personalized menu's and cards signed by the staff. Such a nice touch with outstanding food and drinks. All the staff is dressed well and know how to treat customers so that we want to come back."

"I mentioned in my reservation it was our 38th Wedding Anniversary. When we arrived the staff greeted us with Happy Anniversary. We were brought to a private booth (which I requested) where there was a signed Happy 38th Anniversary card on the table and menus printed with "Happy 38th Wedding Anniversary" on the top. Two managers came by during our meal to congratulate us and thank us for choosing the Oceanaire. The food was delicious and the wine selection was great. Travis, our server, was wonderful and his presentation of a complimentary Baked Alaska dessert was a wonderful end to our meal. We could not have asked for a more perfect evening of dining."

"It was our anniversary and they presented us with a card that all the staff had signed. Our menu was customized with "Happy Anniversary Joe and Cheri", The wine was very good, Oysters very good - fresh shredded horseradish, wine vinegar, cocktail sauce. Very smooth. The Crab Cake was out of this world!!! A mild cream sauce you pour over it! I could eat a plate of just these!! We had 10oz canadian lobster tail. It was large and had chili sauce drizzle with sliced jalapeños, very interesting. At least 10 big bites of lobster there!! Side dishes were cooked well, nothing new there. Caesar salad was ok. They brought us Baked Alaska for a special dessert without asking. how sweet an ending to a beautiful evening."

"I brought my oldest grandson for his 10th birthday, I told him he could choose anywhere he wanted. He actually chose a seafood chain, I quickly changed his mind when I found out he wanted crab legs. It was exciting for both of us. We (and I can't believe I got him to try the Oysters Rockefeller, and he loved them!!) had an amazing dinner and they even brought him out a piece of cake with ice cream(which could have fed four). The service was great. A very enjoyable evening."

"We had an excellent evening at Oceanaire. We were celebrating our anniversary. The staff coud not have been nicer. Our waiter, Bill, was outstanding! The food was great and the complimentary flaming Baked Alaska was such a special treat. We have a new special occasion place for all future celebrations. (And we'll probably come up with other reasons to go there too! )"

"I enjoy the food and service. My only issue is with paying $38 for fish. Although I can tell the difference between Ruth's Chris and Outback, I can't tell the difference between a $38 piece of fish and a $18 piece of fish at McCormick's or even Bonefish."

"We had a 6:30 reservation because we had playoff tix for 8pm game. We arrived promptly at 6:30 and were told they were seating the 630 reservations and it would be "just a few minutes". At 7, they offered to seat us! If it was Appleby's or some restaurant of that ilk we might have eaten in 45 minutes and rushed out the door but this place is not inexpensive. There is no reason for a restaurant of this caliber to be running behind at 6:30! We expressed our unhappiness and no one apologized or acknowledged we had reason to be unhappy. Very bush league. Were they unaware there was a playoff game 2 blocks from their restaurant and diners might need to be seated promptly?"

"Our group enjoyed fried stuffed trout, sturgeon, marlin and scallops together with augratin bacon potatoes, calamari, asparagus prepared fried, steamed with hollidaise, and grilled. All fabulous yet we wished the grilled asparagus would have had more a grilled flavor. The Baked Alaska and Strawberry Rhubarb cobbler with ice cream were wonderful as was the exceptionally good decaf. Waiter was able to reccommend excellence beverage choices based on customer preferences. Overall a wonderful experience."

"Fom the valet parking to dessert this place is top notch! We went for my husbands birthday. They hsd a menu with happy Birthday at the top and a card signed by the staff waiting on the table. "We found excellent fresh seafood in the midwest, including several uncommon fish choices that were available just for a day or two. I had Alaskan Halibut which is usually available, and it was wonderful, plainly grilled. The key lime pie dessert was traditional, with just a bit of extra bite."

"Being Land-locked, Indiana is not know for fresh seafood. But that doesn't stop Oceanaire from serving some of the freshest seafood I have ever had!
Our server was very knowable and helpful suggesting dishes and entrees that we would enjoy and savor!

"My experience was excellent. I am from New England, so finding good seafood has been a serious challenge in this landlocked area. However, the quality of the seafood at Oceanaire rivals many restaurants from the northeast. The service and atmosphere are also superb. The menu is quite pricy, but the quality of the overall dining experience makes the price worth it. This is the perfect spot for a special occasion or romantic evening."

"I took my wife to Oceanaire to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When I made a reservation via open table, I noted the occasion in the remarks section. When we arrived at the restaurant, a personalized card was sitting on the table. The service was great and the food was delicious. Oceanaire provided a wonderful dessert including ice cream, layer cake, and whipped-cream (all lit on fire) on the house. It was a wonderful experience. The cost at this restaurant causes me to reserve it for special occasions only, but I would recommend to others."

"We went to Oceanaire for a celebration. When we arrived there was a card of congratulations signed by all the waiters as well as a special greetings printed on the menu. The food was good and well prepared, the bus boys were great. The waiter was great with a great sense of humor but he seemed too busy."

"We eat here at least 6 or 7 times a year. Decided to take mom for her bday. They printed up special menus that said happy Bday. They also signed a card with all staff members signatures. Mom loved it. The food and service was beyond great."

"I had made sure to note that it was my wife's birthday because nice restaurants like this one usually print out custom menus that say "Happy Birthday" on them. They did not disappoint. They also included a birthday card signed by all the wait staff and comped our dessert, Baked Alaska, which neither of us have ever had before. It was awesome - both presentation (on fire) and taste.

My wife had the blackened (spicy) Long Cod and I had the Salmon on special. Both were great. We started with the clam chowder which was also excellent. While the place is a bit noisier and not necessarily the most romantic place in Indy, the food is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. Not an every day dinner, but great for special occasions."

"Maybe because the Prom kids where there this evening things went south but this was a disaster. The temperature was so cold the ladies had to put their jackets back on. The drinks took forever to the point they brought the wine for dinner after we had finished eating. The service was slow and the food delivery people bumped several people several times. The seating is very tight, it is uncomfortable to walk around. The manager did come over to apologize for the poor service and took about 10% off the bill. The food was good for the most part and the baked Alaska was great. Based on this experience I would not recommend this restaurant but it could have definitely been a fluke and we just got unlucky."

"Had a great experience on a busy Friday night! Had some amazing oysters - the waiter was very helpful in helping multiple people in the party pick those suited to their taste. Everything else was delicious and incredibly fresh - it was a great start to a very fun evening for myself and my party. Could do a private intimate dinner for two here or have an amazing dinner out with friends. Great place - plan on returning many times..."

"While the food was good, it was extremely overpriced. The portions were tiny. After dropping a hundred bucks per person, I don't expect to walk away hungry. For the money, Fogo is a much better value --- and there a several seafood restaurants that are a better value. This place is a convention-area ripoff."

"When I made the reservation ahead of time I mentioned we would be celebrating my wife's birthday - not only did they hold our reservation (we were late), but they held the best booth in the house on a packed night, had a birthday card on the table, set up a a second birthday card and chilled bottle of champagne (arranged by friends in NYC over the phone), and printed a personalized bday message on our menus - all in addition to a complimentary dessert - they went out of their way for our special occasion and it was noticed.

Still a great oyster selection - as good and breath as I've had anywhere, including both coasts..."
