Rancho Valencia's captivating new restaurant is now open and serving Executive Chef Eric Bauer's signature Coastal Ranch cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a stunning modern hacienda setting.

"From the moment you pull up you are greeted warmly. Upon entering the restaurant you are welcomed and immediately shown to your table. The seating is comfortable, the surroundings so well appointed, you are able to have conversations without the feeling that other diners are listening in. The food was delicious, the portions a little on the small side - but we didn't leave hungry. This is not a place for a routine dinner out. The menu is on the pricey side, but for a special occassion - it's the best!"

"The bones are there for an truly great restaurant. The spring asparagus with bone marrow ver jus was brilliant; however, the entrees were at best good. The house made pasta was heavy while the Bolognese meat sauce was missing the deep, braised, caramelized flavor of slow and low cooking. Maybe that's a personal preference.
The service started out good but deteriorated. As the meal ended, they were certainly less attentive to the point we had to flag them down for the bill. No, it wasn't at all busy."

"We wanted a quiet romantic evening. The Pony Bar next door was hopping but the restaurant was quiet and beautifully lit. Our Waitress Victoria was amazing so much fun and knowledgable about the menu and the wines and recommended a really delicious White wine. I had the fig and goat cheese salad.YUM my huband had the pea soup with crab the crab was amazing the soup was a little bland. My vegetarian Quinoa was fantastic as was his special of the day :Halibut. The desserts were delicious."

"We had heard that portions were too small and that discouraged some from returning we found this not to be true and in fact are very personable waiter, Chip, informed us that feedback dictated they change the portion size and had recently done so. We were quite full and satisfied. And we both enjoyed our meals very much. We love the new booths and how comfortable they are and what a delightful dining experience it was. The bar was fun and we think we will return for a bar bite and for dinner again soon."

"My husband and I have lived in San Diego for 16 years. In all those years, Veladora was probably THE best dining experience we have had here. The food is very clean, superbly cooked. The decor is what I would call rustic chic. Very elegant. Lighting was perfect. Service was good: our server was attentive yet didn't hover. Very pricey but "worth it" pricey. We went there to celebrate my 65th birthday, and it was a very memorable occasion."

"Made a reservation based solely on Open Table reviews and proximity to our hotel. Completely "wowed" by the experience. Did not know it was part of a five star resort until we were admitted at the gate. My Hertz rental Mazda enjoyed being parked with the Jags, Mercedes, and Land Rovers. The setting is gorgeous. The restaurant interior, filled with fresh flowers and candles in a perfect blend of "south of France chic" and Southern California dressy casual. Our waiter, Justin, was superb. The food was exquisite. The wine was excellent. The experience was unforgettable. To top it off, dinner was a bargain...I would not have argued if the bill had been twice as much. We're already looking forward to our next trip to San Diego North County."

"The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. We were quite comfortable in a booth. The food still needs improvement. The octopus carpaccio was tasteless as was a seafood medley that a friend ordered. However, the lobster pasta was very good. Service was attentive in the beginning, then as it got busier, it was difficult to find the waiter. The food & service need improvement."

"In spite of the $30,000,000 renovation the ambience is pretty but the food just so-so. Service, while courteous is not up to par. The young waitstaff needs more training. When I ordered iced tea I was never offered the 2 varieties available. My husband ordered the "trio" - sandwich, soup and salad. It was a very dainty ladies' lunch with half a sandwich. We were never told that a full sandwich could have been ordered instead.
Given the location and clientele, this place needs to be much more professional."
