"Best experience I've had at Hot Tuna in years. This place is fun but service is usually lacking and food somewhat mediocre. Usually we only go there for the great happy hour but this experience was awesome. The food was great - even with some difficult orders at our large table. Our waitress was excellent and split the bill up including splitting entrees, bottles of wine and appetizers - with no mistakes. This used to be a "happy hour only" place in my mind but we will definitely return again for dinner or another party."

"Omg my bday was awesome @ hot Tuna. I made online reservations for my party=perfectly convenient.The food and atmosphere was perfect. The only thing i would change is getting shots only to get a good buzz lol but other than that it so big fun. The people that go out there were down to earth and friendly as well as my waitress. DJ Oh Yea was great also and i can't wait to go back =)-"

"The food is always delicious at Hot Tuna! They have the best calamari around, and their entrees are phenomenal as well! My wife and I like to go there on special occasions because we like to try a little of everything, and the check always seems to be a little high. Some of the best seafood in the area!"

"While the food was very good , the service was very bad. We waited quite a while for our salads and appetizers. Within 2 minutes of getting them our entrées arrive. Who wants to rush through their meal? We complained to the manager, he said the realized in the kitchen too late and decided to serve the food any way as it was ready. What? How about if you realized it, prepare our entrees again in a more timely manner. The restaurant was not busy, it only had 2 other tables plus our party of 7. Only saving grace was the food was really good."

"Love this place. It is probably not a place that the normal Virginia Beach vacationers will find because it is not on the water. But it has very good food, service and decor. It is simultaneously appropriate for a date night, for families with kids, and for a group get together. This was our second year going there during vacation and we will go back again next year."

"Chose Hot Tuna to celebrate a friend's birthday because I had eaten there before and the food had been excellent. But change knows no boundaries and my most recent experience was less than stellar. Is it a bar or a restaurant?? The bar was packed, which is fine for the people at the bar, but not so pleasant for the diners who had to shout at each other to be heard. The calamari appetizer and mocha cheesecake were the best parts of dinner. I had the sesami seared tuna and it was just okay, nothing spectacular. My friend had the fried scallops and although he wouldn't say, they looked like more breading and less scallop. Neither entrees were worth the price. I don't plan to eat at Hot Tuna again anytime soon."
