"I went there to celebrate my Wife's birthday and all I have to say is WOW! I never see such attentive service. I had the Cowboy steak and it was made perfect. Very juicy and tender. My favorite part of the meal was the "Three Cheese Mac & Chesse. I dont know what they did to it, but it was the best I have ever had. The waiter Blake was excellent. he was very attentive and very knowledgeable with the menu and wine list. I plan to go there again on my birthday."

"They have the best lobster bisque I've ever had. Don't get me wrong the steaks are delicious, but given USDA prime meat anyone can make that taste good. Their salads, soups and sides are what make this dining experience. The wedge salad is amazing and any of the sides from the potatoes au gratin to the always phenomenal mac n' cheese are just the perfect way to finish off a meal. The service is like something from the past, it seems to have been a lost art. All the food is brought out at once and ever so slightly lifted before being set in front of the diner. It is a very fun experience, with excellent food and is worth checking out."

"I took my 6 yr old twin boys with us for my Birthday dinner. Our waiter commended me on their behavior. On the other hand a party of 4 that sat behind us had a woman who screamed her laughs throughout our entire meal! It was so loud at one time it actually hurt my ears!
Our Au-gratin potatoes were over done and crunchy, my steak that I ordered medium to medium rare came well done and tough (and our waiter told me it was one of the best cuts of meat)
I originally ordered the Porterhouse steak, it was my birthday and I felt I should be able to have any steak I wanted. But on a Tuesday evening,this steak was NOT AVAILABLE? Truly a disappointment!
And my asparagus tasted like it had been cooked over a butane flame-strong oil taste."

"I was surfing the internet looking for a nice restaurant to dine at for my husband and I to celebrate our Anniversary. I read the reviews about the Chop House and decided to go there. WOW, the place was AWSOME. From the moment we entered the restaurant to the time we left, the service was IMPECCABLE. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a surprise gift for my husband and I gave it to the greeter who gave it to our waiter. I requested that the gift be brought to my husband on a tray as a surprise. Not only was my husband surprised, I was also surprised. Due to the Waiter's personal touch, the gift presentation was beautiful. We will definitley be going back there."

"If you want the best of everything go to the Chop House. This restaurant could compete with any other top restaurant in any major city. The obvious food choice is meat and it's hard to go wrong with that, but if you like fish, I'd recommend the Dover Sole, filled table side.

"We had been here before and it was amazing!This time, my husbands food was wonderful, I ordered a special. Waitress said it had maytag cheese topping on an 11oz filet.I was able to eat 2 bites before I got to the cheese which turned out to be blue cheese and I couldn't choke it down. It made me sick to my stomach and ruined our evening. I sat the plate aside and the waitress didn't ask how it was instead asked if I was done. She then asked my husband if he was done with the sides and boxed them as I was eating them.She didn't wipe the crumbs off the table and sat the desert utensils farther away from me to avoid setting them in the crumbs.Asked for private booth seating and had another couple sat within a foot of us in the adjoined booths."

"Let me start by saying the food was excellent. We went to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary all the way from Chicago. It would have been nice if they would have done something special for us, but we got nothing. Being a fine dining restaurant I expected something so I was disappointed to say the least. Our waitor was friendly and like I said the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend it."

"Upon arriving I had my husband in a wheel chair and needed help to get him thru the doors and in the meantime I had cut my fingers getting his wheel chair out of the car. The ladies at the front were extremely helpful and the general manager came over and was wonderful and went out of his way to be of service as well as our waiter.
The only problem with the Chop House is parking. Valet parking should be available for handicapped,
We use to dine at chops all the time but because Ruth Chris has valet parking it makes it easier for us to get in and out with their help with the wheel chair and also parking is very expensive - for the three hours we were there it cost $12.00 for parking so something should be down about that also."

"Everything about dinner was fabulous, but I called the reservation line to make sure we would be able to go downstairs after dinner for a cigar. We were celebrating some good news, and my husband loves to smoke a cigar, but on several occassions, the cigar bar service has been suspended when we arrive. I was told that it "should" be fine (which didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy), but sure enough, when we arrive, there was that disappointing sign on the door stating that cigar smoking was suspended. Had we known ahead of time, we could have chosen another night, or made a later dinner reservation. To be clear, my complaint is not with the staff in Grand Rapids. Harry heard about our disappointment, and his response was perfect."

"The Chop House by Main street Ventures (Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Charleston W.Va.) the restaurants we have visited are great. The Grand Rapids location was no different, the service was impeccable the wine selection equal to any and better than most and the food was prepared to perfection. My wife had the Dover Sole and I had the NY Strip (Pittsburgh/MR) perfect. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the hostess and escorted to our table, which I immediately declined. (A two large two top butted up against a wall) The manager Harry, asked what we would like and I told him a nice four top in the middle of the restaurant. He stated we would have to wait a half hour or so as they were busy. All went well! Fantastic restaurant.."

I had a filet minon and two sides (asparagus and garlic spinach). The asparagus was one of the worst I've ever had and the spinach was good. The steak was average lacking something special that would bring me back. Overall I'm not sure I found that something that would bring me back or find me recommending to others."

"My business partner and I took an associate and her husband to dinner as a thank you for a job well done. The two hadn't been there before, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Once again, The Chop House did not disappoint. Everyone had a fillet mignon except me, who devoured the Cowboy - always amazing (do not overload on the sides - The Cowboy's the thing, don't spoil it with anything else). Although, the side order of mushrooms was excellent and not filling. A wonderful Chateau Montelena Cab was superb and an excellent complement to the meal. Service was very good, as always."

"The Chop House came highly recommended to my wife and I, and we found an open Saturday evening to try it out. It was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly, prompt, and ready to answer any questions we had. The menu was explained to us in great detail after we revealed this was our first visit. "We went to the Chop House for our wedding anniversary. The ambiance reminded us of Chicago. The waitress, Hanna, was a true gem. Smart, funny, informed, and lovely. The food was unique, even if it was just a side of Au Gratin potatoes. Each menu item seemed to have a special receipe that most diners have probably never been exposed to before. Large portions. Outstanding wine list with even better flavors. Relaxed dining, no rushing to get the next course on the table. A memorable dining experience to treasure;)"

"Had a great meal. Lost a bet to my boss and took him to the best place in town for steak. We weren't disappointed. Was nice to head downstairs for a cigar and glass of Port at the end of our meal."

"Nice space. Good service. My wife's steak was tough, which for $42 was accetpable. The sides were averge. Size of portions was very large, probably too large for most folks. Sole was good. Lamb chops above averge. Excellent wine list. They did offer to prepare another steak and did comp the steak. The Ipads for menus was a cute idea, but seemed odd that it didn't include the specials. Dessert was good. Overall an average experience, and for the price, not one we will probably repeat."

"Great place to go to for a special occasion. Had reservations for a Wednesday night, didn't really need them as the restaurant was never more than half full. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated right away. Menus are on pads, really cool that you can see pictures of what you are ordering. I had the grilled hearts of romaine salad and it was absolutely delicious. For my main course I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly and was incredibly tender. Best steak I've ever had, hands down. My date and I headed downstairs to the cigar lounge for dessert, a few [more] drinks and a cigar. Our server asked us before dinner if we would like reservations for the cigar lounge, the service really is top notch here."

"The Chop House Grand Rapids was an excellent experience overall. However, I would caution avid steak connoisseurs to avoid anything except the Kobe steak. The restaurant was out of the Kobe so we decided to try the Cowboy Ribeye. This was a mistake as it was very tender but flavorless and bland. They graciously allowed us to return it for the lamb (excellent). The chef also made an amazing beef tartare for us on request."

"Food is amazing here. Be prepared for the price though. We had been there before so we were prepared. After using a $100 gift certificate, our bill with tip was $400 for 4 people. You can cut this with no alcohol (we had 2 bottles of wine, no dessert (we ordered 3), and less sides (we had 4). We chose this place for a special occasion and do not dine there frequently. It is definitely a treat we may do once a year. Melt in your mouth filet though!"

"It is Always a pleasure to eat here. I held back one star for ambience only because it would be nice to have some view of the outdoors (esp because it was snowing out while we were there.) The wait staff at the Chop House is, I think, the best I've seen anywhere."

"The food was great except the macaroni and cheese wasn't what we expected, needed flavor. This was our 4th time there and since the last time they added tablets to look at the menu, very awesome, love the fact you can see a picture of each menu item and the best wine to go with the dish.
