"Not only is the food awesome, but Carson's has the ability to make your meal the way you want it. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is great, I would go back there any day for a variety of occasions."

"Nice surprise for lunch...had corn chowder soup, which was excellent. Chipotle chicken salad was okay...will try another one next time. The prime rib dip sandwich was excellent!!! Will come back again! Service was very nice too!"

"My brother & I took my Mom and Dad out to lunch at Carson's for Mother's Day and we were very happy with our dining experience! Plus, each one of us have completely different preferences and we all were able to order what we wanted. I ordered the salmon, my Mom ordered pecan encrusted chicken, my Dad ordered prime rib and my brother is vegetarian, so he ordered a pasta dish. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent. The wine menu was great, too. I would definitely return to Carson's again. We also enjoyed using the electronic tablets to review the menu!"

"The food was ok. I had cod and the flavoring was not all that. My fiance had salmon and she really liked it. The service was a little slow. There was moments when we questioned where was our server."

"We believe the menu was a bit shorter than we would have preferred. Our server spoke too fast for us to understand her the first time she spoke. Overall, the food was good and serving portions were fine."

"Carson's is one of our "go-to" restaurants when we visit our son at the U of M. The menu has sufficient diversity for any group and includes some real gems...the Lemon Sole is excellent (the appetizer portion is sufficient for dinner if you add a cup of the corn chowder). The prime rib, whitefish & short ribs also received high marks. The waitstaff is always attentive and knowledgeable. FYI...the layout of this restaurant is very accessible. Parking is easy, the doorway is large and the aisles are sufficiently wide for those with mobility constraints."

Review 10 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"The food was excellent but the experience was marred by very slow service. We had a party of 7 people for lunch. We arrived before the 12 noon lunch rush but our server was so slow that many tables seated after us were eating their food before we the soup."

Review 12 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Non-attentive servive, i.e. we wanted dessert and our waiter never came by to ask. Never even brought our bill. We moved to the bar and that waiter brought drinks but never came back with a dessert menu despite having been told we wanted dessert. Weird! Place seemed to be run by untrained teenagers. No adult workers in sight. Expensive meal for what was basically a Friday's."

Review 13 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"I selected this restaurant for its easy access from the highway, for a quick dinner. Having dined at all the finer restaurants in Ann Arbor, I might be a food snob. The atmosphere is a step up from an Applebee's, in that it has that too homey family feel. Our sever, Lauren P., was excellent! The Grey Goose martinis are perfect. Salad was fresh and plenty with great greens. Fish and Chips were literally tasteless. Both my guest and I shared and felt the same. Blue Cheese coleslaw was tart and unbalanced. The orange pound cake with Nutella was horrid. Will not return."

"I was a little disappointed that my favorite salad was no longer on the menu (mixed greens with beef tenderloins) but the salad with chicken was a good substitute."

Review 18 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Visited 11/2012 and 3/13. On both occasions the restaurant did not meet expectations. Volume has declined since Pfizer left the area a few years ago? The menu itself relies heavily on frozen fare. For this visit & last, their "signature" blue cheese coleslaw tasted old and had been in the fridge for days - it had that "fridge burn" flavor. Very bad. For other items, my son who is 19 stated that the food could have passed for dorm food. The broccoli was ashen, grayish green and mushy. They were out of the one dish I wanted to try, Country Ribs in Acho sauce. The rice accompanying the fish I ordered was simply regular rice with frozen vegetable medley added. No pizazz, bad food, but not toxic. Nice service tho."

Review 20 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Pleasantly surprised by the friendly hostess! The greeters are usually rather grumpy. The food was very tasty, but we were disappointed that some items have been removed from the menu: mussels appetizer and green beans as a side -- our daughter's two favorites... Still, a pleasant dining experience."

Review 22 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Unfortunately, my dining companion and I seemed to be a low priority for our waitress. We were very rarely checked on and were left waiting for beverage refills several times. My meal was just barely still warm, and my date received a terrible cut of meat that had more fat than edible steak. The waitress didn't seem to notice that either. The one redeeming quality of the dining experience was the slice of lemon cake we shared for dessert."

"We had a wonderful meal at Carsons. The tables were nicely spaces, unlike some downtown restaurants. We could actually talk!! The food was also great! It's difficult to get a good selection of fresh fish and the selection here was yummy!!!"

Review 24 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Table by the fireplace, group of six friends, great food, served with perfect timing, made for a very enjoyable dinner. I was a bit timid when one in our group ordered the brussels sprout appetizer to share but it was delicious! The Fettuccine with Roasted Vegetables had a nice light sauce which was a welcome change from alfredo. The Parmesan Encrusted Lemon Sole was also a hit as well as the Bistro Burger, both perfectly cooked and "dressed" with the right proportion to not overwhelm the flavor of the meat. The Grilled Orange Pound Cake for dessert was definitely worth saving room for but unfortunately they only had one piece left so we had to share. The Carrot Cake (family recipe?) was also happily devoured."

Review 30 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"Food was good. We were seated right by the beautiful fireplace, which was wonderful. Our waiter was not on his game though. Slow service the entire time. Took way too long for refills of our water glasses. Slow to take our order. Never brought my coleslaw. Not sure if he was overwhelmed with the number of tables he had, or if he was new. Service definitely detracted from the enjoyment of the meal."

Review 32 for Carson's American Bistro - Ann Arbor
"We were very disappointed with our first visit to Carsons. We were seated at a booth near the bar and the bartenders were supposed to be our waitstaff. They were very slow to wait on us, did not come back to check on us or see if we need refills and we had to ask about our food order after seeing people that came in after us being served theirs.
The food was just soso. The pecan crusted chicken was overcooked.
Will not go back."

"Carson's - has a great menu. There is something on it for everyone. I especially like their extensive seafood selections. The atmosphere at Carson's is great for families, friends or a romantic evening out. I love the large fireplace near the entrance."

"Hadn't been to Carsons in awhile. We ate there on the way to the Folk Festival. Wasn't sure about being seated in the bar, but Matt the bartender made us feel really at home. Although I've had better prime rib, the food overall was great."
