"So far we have celebrated 3 family holidays at Joseph Ambler Inn; Mother's Day last year, Easter and Mother's Day this year. Somehow I felt lasts years menu was a cut above. The staff is always attentive, the food good, but last year definitely seemed nicer. All in all it is a good value and for a family that is scattered and comes together to celebrate a fine place to dine. As an extra plus, the grounds are very pretty and very well maintained."

"Don't expect even a free glass of champagne for your $43 per head brunch, but the coffee was good and they kept it coming. Not a huge selection of dishes but they were displayed well. The AC was running overtime and despite asking to turn it down - our party were all cold. Something of a disappointment all around."

"We really enjoyed our Mother's Day brunch. The quality of the food was excellent and plentiful. A little on the pricey side but, it was Mother's Day and I suppose that is to be expected. Everything was very well done. The setting is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. We will return."

"Help yourself buffet where the food is fresh and good quality and the service is attentive and pleasant. Beautiful setting. Eat outside on a nice day, where therr is room for the kids to run around when they get bored and not bother anyone. Pricey but worth it."

"we had not been to the Inn for about 5 years and looked forward toa special Mother's Day evening Saturday. There was a wedding there that evening, so I am not sure if that had any impact. The quality of our dinners was a bit disappointing. It was not the high standard we had remembered. Spending over $200 we felt we did not get what we had expected. We will think twice before returning."

"We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Joseph Ambler Inn. The only downside was that they had run out of a few things, including the fresh peaches and cream ice cream that we'd wanted, but that's what you risk by going to a place that makes handmade batches of things like that. Great food, great service."

"I wanted to get away for a day on my own, and ended up staying at this inn. I went out on a date with myself to their restaurant, and it was a great experience. My server was excellent, very friendly but not overbearing. I highly recommend the pistachio baked brie and warm spinach salad. Delicious!
I also had a glass of the Penfolds Chardonnay, which was very tasty. Their wine list is very extensive, but since I was their on my own, I wasn't able to explore it more. I guess I will have to go back!"

"Food was the star of our experience here. I had a filet mignon, which they serve with a gorgonzola topping. I asked for it without the topping and the dark sauce was just perfection. The accompanying vegetables were mashed potatoes, asparagus, and two baby whole carrots all were also excellent. My friend had the salmon and she said it was also delicious.
The ambiance is county inn - wooden floors and beams, exposed stone on the walls, very attractive.
My daughter said she and her husband often come here for an anniversary dinner."

"My wife and I had dinner reservations for 5:00 PM on a Friday and there were only a few dinner patrons at that hour. The lighting was dim and the atmosphere was quite relaxing. The service was exceptional. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and courteous. For appetizers my wife and I had the short ribs and the yellow fin tuna. Both dishes were out of this world. The main courses, Kansas City steak and the sea scallops, were of equal quality. For dessert we had the fruit puff pastry and a coconut Bavarian dish. The fruit puff pastry was quite good but a little too sweet for our liking. It seemed more like a very sweet, high quality breakfast danish. The coconut Bavarian dish was the perfect finish for this fine dining experience."

"My wife and I had a pleasure of recently "discovering" Joseph Ambler Inn. The food and service had been great. The Kansas City Steak and Roasted Rack of Lamb that we ordered were superb. However, the unfortunate part that dessert was really disappointing and just not up to the level of otherwise outstanding restaurant. I cannot recall any other decent restaurant that puts Hershey chocolate syrup over Black Forest Cake… No wonder that they do not even have dessert menu on their web site."

"I am from Cape May, which is a big restaurant city. However, I loved our lunch at the Ambler Inn, reminded me very much of the Washington Inn in Cape May. My only negative comment was that the room was a bit on the chilly side, but every aspect was wonderful. Was concerned there might be stairs, as my husband has difficulty walking, but not a problem. Cannot wait to come back again, and looking forward to an Easter brunch?

"I was very disappointed with some of the food. I ordered a Caesar salad. The dressing was completely wrong and there was no cheese on it. Even the waitress agreed it was the wrong dressing. She offered to have them try to remake it but she found that they were out of Parmesan cheese. This is a standard item on their menu. I would have preferred to have them say they couldn't make it rather than the poor excuse that was sent out. My husband ordered the raw oysters. One was so small it could have passed for a clam. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. Thankfully that was good. It was supposed to come with lump crab. None was found. The server was very good."

"We were there for our anniversary, I have to say that we were both tentative about what our experience would be given the age and location of the restaurant. However the food was fabulous, perhaps nothing way out of the box, but the offerings were prepared extremely well and the flavor profiles were exquisite. The service was attentive, but a bit on the rough side. The ambiance was dated, but provided a lovely background for our dinner."

"I went for an anniversary dinner and it was well worth the money. The sea bass and risotto was excellent. I ordered the Bailey's creme brulee for dessert and it was so good! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. I gave 4/5 starts for ambience because we were sat in a smaller room which gave it more of an intimate feeling than I would have preferred. However, the food and service more than made up for it, and I quickly forgot about the small room."

"I had last dined at the Joseph Ambler Inn about three years ago. In my recent experience, it was not up to the standards which I had remembered. The atmosphere was still quaint and cozy, and the food was still very good. The only problems were that it took too long for the food to be brought out, and, when it was served, it was cold. An appetizer and a main course had to be taken back for warming. The menu is on the pricey side, and that would not be an issue if the food was prepared and served adequately. The wine list is not very large, and the first selection was not available. I will still give the Joseph Ambler Inn the benefit of the doubt, since it is only one of a few fine dining restaurants in the North Penn area."

"The Joseph Ambler Inn Restaurant was wonderful. The ambience was romantic, historic and quaint. They had a piano player in the evening which set a wonderful tone. The bar area is very pretty and fun. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything was prepared wonderfully and I highly recommend dining here."

"Stayed overnight at JAI to celebrate my birthday. Arrived Friday evening with my husband, brother and sister-in-law. My husband and I had eaten at the Inn twice before but had never stayed there. It was the first time for my brother and in wife. As always, it was fabulous. The food, ambiance, service. Light snow on the ground and the trees made it all that more perfect. Thank you JAI for helping to make my birthday absolutely perfect!"
