Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. "I like this place. Outside is better ( fresh air & more privacy) than inside ( too noisy & busy). Service: not always the best but attentive waiters are visiting your table often enough to make sure you got everything. Food is always good, no surprises. The place is busy at lunch every day."

"The food is always good... very consistent and reliable but nothing really special.
The noise level is high, tables are close and the service felt rushed.
They lost my credit card when they took it for payment and then we were waiting while they found it.
They wanted to put the entire charge on my friends credit card and I guess have me just cancel my card which I was not going to do. Eventually they found it. The waiter was very apologetic."

"It was a great place to be after a day at the Beverly hills art show.. the food is always good at El Fornaio. I haven't ever been to this one but have been to the Pasadena one many times. I know the noise doesn't bother everyone but it is too loud for my taste.. but we still had a wonderful time..Just have to talk louder to be heard across the table. The wait staff was great!"

"The service and hospitality at Il Fornaio has always been fantastic, but the food has really taken a turn. What used to be delicious is merely okay, and it's unfortunate considering how great everything else is. I want to be excited when I go out to eat, and that feeling doesn't exist as often with this restaurant. Here's hoping they get a handle on this, because it is a really lovely place to go."

"We ate there last Sunday for late lunch and had a wonderful experience. The pasta with chicken and lobster sauce was amazing and the warm spinach salad was huge and very good. Even the bread was excellent. The ambience is great. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is
it was kind of odd that those of us with hot food were served at least 10 minutes before
