"overall a very good time. We were getting together with friends we had not seen in a long time & the food & ambience were ideal for conversation. Only problem was the internet service went down so they had to take our credit card info by hand"

"I planned my husband's birthday party at MB for 10 people at 7 pm. We had 4 orders of snapper, waiter said there were only 2 orders of the fish. Waiter inexperienced and dropped dishes. Requested a small birthday cake, even cupcake for my husband's 50th birthday, not provided. We spent $650.00 and MD couldn't provide a small desert that I requested in advance (or I would have brought one). I went into the restaurant before and asked if they could do it and they took down his name. How do you run out of food at 7 p.m., especially on the pre fixe something as simple as snapper?"

"I have brought so many people to this wonderful bistro since I had lunch there at the end of last year. The bartender makes wonderful cocktails and she is a lovely person. The wait staff could not be nicer - absolutely no NY attitude!
The fish dish, always market fresh, is outstanding,. The desserts are sublime. Someone in our party last Saturday night had profiteroles that were the best since our last trip to Paris. Everything about this bistro is understated, so that the real show stopper - the food - shines through!"

"The place was empty for breakfast, I ordered the American breakfast and my eggs were so salty I could barely eat them and loaded with butter. The sausage tasted aweful, fries overdone that were dry. The only good thing was the orange juice. Very disappointed, we were the only table for breakfast! Would not recommend it."

"After reading previous reviews of this restaurant, we were a little worried, but it turns out for no reason. Our experience at Madison Bistro was wonderful, and we'd gladly return there next time we're in NY. Service was good -- not too much, not too little. They didn't have the wine we wanted, so the server came back with two similar options from which to choose, and the one we chose was excellent. Highlights were the foie gras, the short ribs and the souffles. Quiet little neighborhood place with that cosy, intimate feel."

"Went on a Saturday night with a reservation. We sat trying to flag a waiter for a drink. We left after 40 minutes. No one in charge. No one even know we left. I think a private party + a woefully understaffed crew made for a very forgettable evening."

"Food was great. Unfortunately, in a table for 2 they brought the wrong dish for one diner. They had to prepare the right course, so we each consumed our entrees separately....which was annoying. The food, once the right food arrived, was terrific. The server was not gracious about accepting responsibility about bringing the wrong entree. I've eaten there before...with no problems. I like it very much and would absolutely return. You may share this commentary with the chef/owner if you so desire."
