Canaletto Ristorante Veneto
Canaletto Ristorant Veneto features authentic Italian food made from scratch inspired by the region of Veneto. Breads from the Il Fornaio bakery along with Il Fornaio extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar begin each meal. Seafood, rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game are our specialties. Sliced-at-the-moment salami and fresh oysters from the “Mercato”. Risotto made the traditional Italian way. Housemade and imported pastas, pizzas from an oak wood-burning oven, fresh salads and soups, seasonal antipasti and a wide variety of desserts offer guests a wide selection of foods suitable for any dining occasion.
Our full bar features a selection of Italian and domestic wines, with an emphasis on wines from the “Tre Venezia” area of Italy (Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige). Extensive prosecco list as well as many grappa, spirits and after dinner drink selections.

"We come to Canaletto once and a month and always order something from their regional menu (which changes every month). This time around our waiter took a bit long to serve us. I thought he forgot about us, but we s till had a wonderful time and even got to meet the closing chef who gave us some free tastings of items not on the menu."

"This is a great Italian restaurant especially if you are already in Fashion Island for shopping, visiting or on business.
We shared a shrimp and artichoke risotto di Camogli which was perfectly cooked and reasonably priced considering the amount of shrimp it contained and two lovely scallops. The bread is always good. Our waiter was exceptional. The décor is authentic Italian elegance.
We did not have wine on this evening, but we had a tasty ginger mojito at the bar.
The bar is exceptional with indoor, outdoor and private, closed door areas. Great Happy Hour prices for food and drink.
There is plenty of free, covered parking for Canaletto just steps away."

"We've been to Canaletto a few times over the years...food, service, and environment are consistently good. Although the crowd is a mix of shoppers dropping in for a bite, to larger family dinners, to romantic dates, we enjoy our experience every time we return. Expect the mixed crowd but know that it still has something special to offer as a restaurant. Would highly recommend!"

"I made reservations for my daughters birthday. I requested a good table in a good location due to the special event. When we arrived the restuarant was at 50% capacity. They sat us at a table on the outer edge of the restuarant with a full view of the kitchen and the waiters entering and exiting. We had to request another table and they happily moved us, but i was a little disappointed that they didn't get it right the first time. The waiter was exceptionally professional and attentive! He gave us great service and the food was fantastic! Very delicious!"

"Our dining experience started off poorly in that our table was not available for almost 30 minutes after the reservation time. The place was jumping and we observed that diners were just in no hurry to leave after completing their meals which is beyond the restaurant's control. The management provided us with frequent updates and were most apologetic. Once seated the remainder of our experience was extremely favorable....service was wonderful and the meal exceeded our expectations. We'd definitely return."

"The three course prix fixe special for $30 was an outstanding bargain. The meal was expertly prepared and tasty. Interesting wine choices with a generous selection from Italy. Definitely will be coming back here. Beware, an error on a Google Maps search puts the restaurant across the street in an office building and not in the mall."

"The food was awesome! However the restaruant was packed, and the service was ok. Although our server couldn't not be nicer, we didn't get water for about 20 mins after being seated and then our appetizer came out the same time as our main course. The experience was just ok."

"Exceptional wait staff who is very knowledged not only on the menu and appropriate wine selections but also on timing of service when you're deep in conversation, never let your wine/champagne glass be empty. This is the only restaurant in OC that I have given a 5 too for all services!"

"I don't eat Italian food often, but when I do, I always come to Canaletto's! No serious now, Italian food is my least fav of food types, but when planning a nice dinner with my wife, I love coming here. The food is outstanding!! Tight seating makes for high energy in the room, which translates into an even more intimate setting, due largely to you having to concentrate on every word being spoken."

"First time that tt was not very good to great. Things were not available and we had reservations @ 6:30 . The Martinis were not robust and tasty. The food except for one guest was moderate- his was great!. Service was port. All together, except for te company, it was not good. They knew it and took off 50% of the bill which was gracious as we expect from Canalettos."

"Food was good, but inconsistent. All the dishes were above average, except one appetizer, which had fatty gristle on the meat and hard lumps in the accompanying soft polenta.
The noise level, between conversation, music, and the construction of the building, was intolerable. We were unable to speak to one another and the acoustic level was deafening. Could not hear our server's recitation of the desserts. (And we are not old, so no hearing problems).
The manager seemed to discipline one of the hostesses, at one point, by dragging her by the arm over to a group of tables filled with diners, and then screaming at her in front of them. One of the diners made a comment.
Would not recommend or go back, particularly because of noise."
