"We celebrated our 50th anniversary with 16 friends and relatives at our favorite restaurant and although we strained their serving staff with a table for 18 they did an admirable job of serving us. The food was as special as we expected it to be and I didn't hear one complaint from any of the people in our party ( Some of our relatives are pretty picky). Rudy and Paco's is especially nice for intimate dinners but they can handle the large groups as well."

"This restaurant has been a staple in Galveston for many years; however, it is always busy and requires reservations. My husband and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary here on a Monday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Service was excellent and the chef prepared wonderful meals. I should mention that regardless of the fact we dined on a Monday, I do not think that busier nights would sacrifice this high level of quality. It is evident that certain standards are expected of staff because the owner supervised all operations and greeted patrons at the front door. I look forward to dining there again and now understand why reservations are necessary. This place is a gem to be discovered and enjoyed more than one time."

"Two years ago my wife and I were married in Cypress TX and headed to Galveston for a quick night away. I drove to a few steakhouses and nothing seems inviting and one of the most popular Hotel/Steakhouse facilities actually recommended that I try Rudy and Pacos! As shocked as I was we rushed right over there just as the opera house was about to let out. Since I did not have a reservation the hostess had informed me that they were full that evening. Frustration poured over me as I asked for another recommendation for this special occasion.(OK I played the just got married card!!) Pacos immediately came over and gave us a table right then! "Great place for date night! We had the empanadas and ceviche to start and they were very delicious. We've had similar dishes at Americas and Churrascos and these were equivalent in taste, if not better. The black bean soup was also very tasty. I highly recommended trying one of their snapper dishes. I had the one with cilantro cream sauce. It was excellent! Great flavor- not soaked in butter like so many seafood places do. We love this place and definitely recommend it!"

"Rudy and Paco Restaurant is our favorite place to dine in Galveston when we have tickets to an event at the Grand theatre which is on the same block. The food is always excellent and the service also. I love the presentation of food when the waiters (all dressed in black) exit the kitchen in a line, each carrying one entree, and circle your table, then each place your entree before you at the same moment. It's such a nice touch. If you have theatre tickets, they take special care to time your dinner so you can make the performance. You have to book ahead if you want to get in on theatre nights."

"This was our second visit to Rudy and Paco and again we were not disappointed. Other than the rather cramped dining arrangement and noise everything was perfect, from the drinks, wine list, appetizers (empanadas are incredible) to the entrees and presentation. Over the many years we've both lived in and visited Galveston the city has been blessed with some very nice restaurants with excellent food, service and ambiance. Rudy and Paco stands out among these great establishments, if not leading the current pack."

"What a wonderful evening which we had! This is a gem in Galveston. Many locals seemed to enjoy this spot for fine dining. We were from out of town and enjoyed immensely. A wonderfully Latin and South American influenced fare. Everything was fresh and enjoyable, from the well prepared drinks, to the immaculate presentation, to the detail to fine service, to the relaxing feeling. As you might expect the menu is seafood heavy but there are several beef dishes. We had Parmesan crusted grouper and reddish topped with lump crab. Both were excellent. "So glad family owned places like this exist, AND put out really good food and excellent service. Meal started with a cocktail, a perfectly made Manhattan (made with Makers Mark no less!) I went with one of the restaurants favorite dishes as recommended by the wait staff. The fish was just outstanding, although the accompanying brussels sprouts could have used a bit more seasoning. During the meal, we were visited by both owners, I love to see this kind of sincere caring from people whose name is on the door. Interior is classic, tables are well spaced, and despite being pretty full, my dinner companion and I could have a great private conversation at the table with no disruption.
I would highly recommend to Galveston visitors"

"The lighting was horrible. We had to use a cellphone light in order to read the menu. Our waiter even offered us a flashlight. We did notice that many were complaining of the same problem. We both were not happy with our salads as they were dripping with too much dressing and the food portions were very poor. We have eaten here many times before with no problems, but last night we were not impressed at all."

"This was our 7th or 8th time. This restaurant is so good it shouldn't be in Galveston .. but it is and Galveston is the winner for it. It is worth the 45 minute each way drive I make to enjoy it. No swim suits or loud beer swilling fisherbeachgoers .. excelant menu great wine selection attentive and well trained staff .. what more could you want!"

"Excellent food, attentive service, relaxed and quiet surroundings: a culinary gem. The ambiance is likely more "active" before showtime at the neighbouring theatre (The Grand). So you may want to check the schedule of performances if that is an issue. Otherwise, very much worth a visit."

"We had a wonderful evening and meal. Derek was our server and he was fantastic and the staff worked together to ensure 5 star service. There were three people in our party and we ate a Bone In Ribeye cooked to perfection, plantain encrusted red snapper with a raspberry chipolte sauce and chilean sea bass topped with jumbo lump crabmet and a lobster sauce. Everything was amazing!! Thank you for making our friends first visit so memorable"

"Food service good as usual. My wife found a piece of chipped plate in her salad and bit into it,without incident. Server attempted to get managers attention but he seemed unconcerned and never even approached the table. We had to request they replace the salad as they did not offer to do so."

"We have dined at Rudy & Paco's many times over the years. They have never failed to meet the high expectations they have set. Friday night was another confirmation that Paco still runs a fine restaurant. The flowers I sent were on the table when we were seated. We had Ceasar Salads, Chilean Sea Bass as well as a Strip Steak, great Malbec wine. Our server was attentive without getting in the way.We will be back."
