"We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband on Saturday night. The restaurant felt like we were in a different world.....not LA county. Charming ambience, great food, wonderful service and very kind and friendly staff. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to feel like they are away from the hustle and bustle of LA and have great food and wine. We didn't see the outside dining area so we will have to go back and back to experience all they have to offer.

"This restaurant continues to be of the highest quality, though not inexpensive. An extensive highly regarded wine list. The food is always exceptional. Although "game" is the theme here, it is by no means the only way to go. Non-red meat eaters will enjoy the menu as much as anyone. I could go on forever."

"LOVED having brunch here the week before Father's Day. We took my 85 y. o. father who is hard of hearing & the noise level was very quiet, which made having conversations with him very easy. There were 5 of us in our party & each of us ordered something different. All 5 brunch items were outstanding--cooked superbly, very nicely seasoned & very fresh. Three waiters served our table. Their timing was perfect. We never had to ask for a refill of coffee or water, & never felt rushed. I told the head waiter the service they gave us during brunch was comparable to the service we got on a Princess Cruise ship when we went to Glacier Bay. It was the best service we've had since the cruise 22 years ago! Atmosphere was very cozy & romantic!"

"Had dinner here for our wedding anniversary and ordered the 8 course tasting menu and enjoyed every bite. We particularly loved the duck as well as the elk, but everything was wonderful. Everything was perfect for our special night from the seats they provided, to the decor of the room, and even the chef coming out and wishing us a happy anniversary. We plan on returning as often as we can."

"We have been to the Saddle Peak Lodge before and came away with mixed feelings some very good and some not so good. The ambience was up to par. The food was a mixed bag with very tasty buffalo short rib and buffalo New York cut steak. The elk, which I was looking forward to, was cooked well but had an overpowering sauce that hid most of the flavor of the meat. I think the menu could use a couple of more game options, especially fowl. Our server was a bit bland and not very good at checking back at table. However, the older gentlemen assisting the waiter was a welcome addition, friendly and charming offsetting the waiter. The GM has a distinctly Eastern US persona, but came off a little offensive with remarks to my wife."

"My fiance and I were here for his birthday the other night. We enjoyed the 8-course chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. We are extreme "foodies". We always pick apart our dishes and decide what we like and what we would do differently. There was nothing out of this tasting that either of us would have changed. We found out the the exec chef is just 27 years old. What an impressive palate he has!
The menu was quite pricey but you get what you pay for. This was one of the best meals that either of us has had. It ranks us with our engagement night dinner--which at the time was the best ever(for obvious reasons).

"I have to say that the meal and service were some of the best I have had anywhere, ever! The meal was amazing, from the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti to the Venison Carpaccio appetizers, to the main courses. My wife had the New Zealand rack of lamb, which was a generously sized portion, prepared perfectly to her request, no cauliflower. I had the Wild Game trio, which was Elk, Antelope, and Squab, served with mashed potatoes and spinach, delicious. For desert we had an amazing bread pudding, quite possibly the best I have ever had. Highest marks in all categories."

"If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, I recommend Saddle Peak Lodge. The menu selections are not typically found in other restaurants. I had the three meat selection that included antelope, elk and buffalo. All were excellently prepared. The elk is a specialty normally on the menu and I would definitely order again. The buffalo short ribs were fall off the bone tender.
We were there celebrating an anniversary and would recommend this place fo special occassions.
Sevice overall was outstanding and they took care of the little things that show they are on top of it. Apparently our desserts were taking a little longer than expected (we didn't notice that it was slow) and the general manager came over twice to appologize."

"Went here recently for a beer tasting and it was very good, although I would've preferred more food with the beer to absorb the alcohol. This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles County. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The only reason I gave the food and overall experience 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt there should've been larger portions of food served with the drinks. On the other occasions when I've dined at this restaurant, I've always given everything 5 stars."

"Celebrated a special occasion at the restaurant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I found the traffic bad on PCH so leave early to get there. We got there in time for their happy hour and had drinks and cheese plate, highly recommended. For dinner we had the rack of lamb and the Trio. Both were excellent. We started with the venison and lobster salad. Both were good but not great. I had the white chocolate dessert which was very good. Overall very pleased with the evening."

"Saddle Peak will always be one of my favorite places. On this dining occasion, they outdid themselves. My party started out as 14 but dwindled to 6 as the date came closer; with each call to the restaurant they handled the change without any issue. I was actually happy we dropped in number as we were seated at what I now believe is the best table in the house - 3rd floor with a great view. The view was only exceeded by the amazing fare and wine. Each of my party went with the tasting menu and wine pairing and none of us were disappointed. Each course is well thought out and prepared so perfectly."

"We don't get to Saddle Peak often but are never disappointed. The service is impeccable. The wait staff pay attention to everything but are not intrusive. The food is inventive and tasty. We enjoyed the filet of beef and the salmon - both cooked to perfection. The apple salad and scallops appetizers were yummy. The rolls were just out of the oven and moist. We shared a croissant bread pudding for dessert and wish we could have had another! The atmosphere of the hunting lodge isn't for everyone but, if the hunting theme (stag head, antlers, etc) doesn't bother you (it's been there forever) it has a great warm, cozy feel. The prices are steep but it is worth it, especially for a special occasion. The perfect romantic spot to dine."

"The meal was spectacular, everything was perfect. Great wines, service was all attention to the guests. A true gem. We had the 3 choices of game, antelope, buffalo and elk, the trout, the pork and lamb chops. Everything was incredible."

"Fabulous location, and restaurant inside is out of another era. Service and food are contemporary and trustworthy, informed and delivered in a unpretentious manner. You must like to explore meats even though other entrees exist, you come to Saddle Peak to have a unique experience."

"I love the game dishes. This time opted for a change and had the salmon. Cooked to perfection and delicious. The soup amuse is worthy of a course itself. Chris must spend hours straining the soups because they are like velvet. New dessert menu creates a real dilemma. Hard to choose just one."

"The service was quite bad. We waited almost 15 minutes to get out menus then after the waiter opened a bottle of wine and offered to bring us the right glasses waited another 15 minutes before he returned after he saw us looking at him. So even though we brought our own wine we couldn’t drink it. The food was just ok coupled with the lack of attention given by the wait staff does not equate to the value of the meal. Way over priced for what we used to love."

"Although we brought our children (8 and 11) with us to the restaurant, the staff accommodated us. They are foodies like us so they enjoyed beautiful mushroom agnolotti and filet mignon. We had the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing and it was an experience. We were treated to meeting their executive chef who took the time to talk to us and answer our children's questions on the food she ate. This is a fine dining restaurant yet the chef didn't have any pretentious airs about him which made our dining experience even more pleasurable. The wait staff, manager, bartender were professional yet unpretentious. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be going back there for another memorable meal"
