Zen Bistro - Millbrae is a refreshingly new chic restaurant that offers a casual dining experience in a hip and classy environment. The head chef, Nao Shiraishi, offers a diverse menu of Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price, including a variety of creative and tasty sushi, donburi, udon, and sukiyaki. On Friday and Saturday nights, Zen Bistro's lounge hours, until 2:00 a.m., provide for a great place to gather with friends, listen to music, and sample the after hour's menu or huge selection of sake. "Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience. The service was really slow. It seemed that there was only one waiter there for lunch and even though the place was not full, he had a really hard time keeping up. The food was mediocre toward bad. Ikura nigiri that is not salty enough?? Wasn't sure what to think of that... the fish didn't taste right in my spicy tuna roll... I don't think I'll be going back."

"Awesome list of sushi rolls - I wish I could've had more stomach space to try them all. The ambiance was nice, service was great and food was awesome! I'll be back to try something off their happy hour and lunch menus. :-)"

"I think everything was very good. I used a living social coupon and had read some reviews prior to going there about not being able to use the coupon on their special rolls. As a result I did not order any rolls. I strongly believe that is not the right way to do business (putting restrictions on your customers) and would not have purchase the coupon had I known in advance since the price is pretty hight compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood.
I know the restaurant has addressed the pricing issues recenthly by offering better lunch deals so I will probably have go there more often in the afternoon rather than in the evening."

"Kind of a mixed review- decor and waiter were just lovely, and I appreciated the wide range of options on the menu. But they were out of 2 things we had wanted to order. And my spouse felt the rolls were on the small side. My roll was a bit misshapen. But they tasted good. Grilled asparagus was my favorite thing - grilled to perfection. Veggie roll 3 was fresh and yummy but alas much smaller than it looked in the photo. So it was a good enough dinner but not great. Also a loud Bday party next to us. Looked like a good place for a party they were patient with the children. So not really impressed but very adequate and it was a godsend after I came off an SFO flight starving!"

"an out of the way gem. we picked this place for a meeting near SFO based entirely on the reviews, and it exceeded our high expectations. in short, we'd go out of our way to go there again. it is a casual and warm spot, and the food and service were both unusually good."

"Very easy to find. I drove 101 from SF and the restaurant was well located, easy access using the Millbrae Ave. exit near SFO. Parking was great, even on a very rainy day. Food was good. My party of three each ordered a different Bento Box and we each enjoyed ours!"

"We were a group of seven out celebrating a birthday dinner. Our food and dining experience was positive. The ambiance and service made us felt very relaxed and welcome. Though we spent well over 2-1/2 hours, the staff did not hovered or rushed us,"
