"The Mother's Day brunch was spectacular! Everything was delicious from the eggs benedict to the shrimp and crab cocktail with cognac sauce to the belgian waffles with homemade whipped cream. The live jazz added a great ambience and the servers were always nearby with more fresh squeezed orange juice or mimosas. The final elegant touch was every Mother received a fresh flower to wear."

"My husband and I went to Fyve for our wedding anniversary, and we were very happy with the whole experience. The food was outstanding, as was the service. There was so much attention to detail with the food, and everything was better than we expected. They really made it a special occasion for us. The only drawback was the dining room itself. The lighting and the ambiance were not great. But we would definitely recommend it and will go back in the future."

"A mother's day brunch that was unfortunately ruined by repeated mistakes by the waiter. While we appreciated the management's efforts to make up for it, you really can't make up for the brief time spent there on a special occasion dealing with one mix up after another.
It's a pity."

"I made reservations and it took the gentlemen 10 minutes to acknowledge my reservation when I came to be checked in. They they had 5 table open and couldn't decide where to sit us, so we waited 15 minutes until they finally decided to sit us at a table by the kitchen. This place has no acoustics and was very loud and every voice and sound echoed.
The restaurant needs partitioned off from the bar/lounge area.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"One of the best tuna nicoise salads I have ever had. The tuna was seared to perfection, and was an ample serving. Rather than bland boiled potatoes, they had perfect squares of potatoe that were sauteed. Green beans were fresh; kalamata olives; and red peppers. The greens were crisp and the dressing was light. Delish!"

"Restaurant is quiet and has low lighting. The tables are nicely spread apart so you aren't listening to other conversations. The wine list does not offer many glasses for under $15 which is way too expensive and they are served in cheap, bulky glasses. The menu does have a nice variety of entrees: salmon, oysters, scallops, steak, chicken, lamb and both of our entrees were nicely portioned. The onion soup appetizer was particularly delicious."

"I took my lawyer daughter to dinner at Fyve for a special meal. Presuming a restaurant in the Ritz (where I was staying) would be up to Ritz standards. We were shocked! The dining room was a wide open space, brightly lit and noisy because it was adjacent to the bar and then the lobby. There was nothing elegant about the experience. Food was only fair, service was what you would expect from staff at a Denny's restaurant."

"The restaurant offered a special menu for restaurant week. Neither my guest nor I found our entree satisfactory. My dish was basically skate with shrimp and scallops. The fish was too salty and a bit mushy -- not tasty at all. My guest had gnocchi with short ribs -- predominantly gnocci with very small amount of shredded short ribs, although not unpleasant tasting. The salad was a sparse mixture of weeds/sprouts with oranges and beets -- just ok. Although we did not complain, partly because the servers were extremely efficient and friendly, management, apparently sensing from the amount of food left on the returned plates, only charged for one entree."

"Fyve was a wonderful find for a Saturday lunch and a peaceful oasis in the midst of a shopping mall. The service was more than attentive, from finding a place for our coats to keeping our glasses full. My group of three was there for Restaurant Week, and our server was careful to explain that each of our three courses would be just a half portion. We appreciated the tip and ordered the specials anyway, which were all beautifully prepared and delicious. We all agreed that having a small amount of three great dishes was better than ordering a big plate of one entree. What a lovely experience!"

"We were at Fyve during restaurant week so it's probably not the best or fairest basis for a review.
That said, though, we found the service excellent, the food very good, and the ambience "hotel." Salads were very nice; our mains were a nicely prepared grilled salmon with crisp-grilled skin, and a delicious shortrib preparation over noodles. The coconut cake was less successful, due mainly to the lack of any coconut taste.
There's a good list of wines by the glass, and the pour is generous although pricing is very high.
If you're shopping at Pentagon City, which contains - with one exception - only order-at-the-counter restaurants, keep Fyve in mind, it's very near."
