"We ate outside on West End Bistro's sliver of a patio, that was pretty well screened by potted plants from the traffic just a few steps away on a busy corner. There were four of us dining, and every course each of us ordered was absolutely first-rate. We wondered why the cavernous restaurant inside was virtually empty. We look forward to returning."

"Went here with a party of six for our daughter's graduation. Food was pretty good, but service can only be described as "hovering". They pushed the bottled water and wine, so that six of us were charged for 9 bottles of water (when we asked for "plain" water it was bottled, too) and they kept aggressively pouring wine to maximize consumption. The food was well prepared and the ambience was pleasant -- we could all hear each other talk easily at a long table. But unfortunately we walked out feeling that the servers had needlessly run up the bill."

"We live in Annapolis and are always looking for places to eat in
D.C. which don't require driving the beltway or crossing over the
park to the West side of the city. We had an early dinner and
found the service to be exceptional and the food almost as good.
The highlights were the skate wing and the special desert we split.

"The food was good but nothing special, and the service was workmanlike but not very attentive. The noise level was such that we had to raise our voice considerably to converse, and that alone will keep us from going back. We would recommend the West End Bistro only to those staying at the Ritz Carlton who don't feel like venturing out of the building and whose expectations for the meal include a loud ambience."

"Westend was an awesome experience. We decided to go with a friend who was from out of town and were so excited when we left. It is not a cheap meal to say the least, but it is definitely worth every penny. We decided to get a few different dishes and eat it tapas style. All of the dishes are beyond delish! Each one is also so creative but completely perfect. The wine list is extensive and the waitress knew what she was talking about when we asked questions, which is always a plus in my book. Also, if you want to trick your significant other (or yourself) into actually liking brussel sprouts- get the side order of them here because they were on point."

"Our daughter and family live too far away, so my husband surprised me on Mothers Day by taking me to WestEnd.
It was our first time. We were definitely not disappointed! I had the (Butter) Fish special and he had the steak -- both wonderful! We also loved the mac n cheese, and the s'mores dessert was fun -- and really good!

"I'd eaten here for lunch once before, had a pricey chicken sandwich. Decided I'd bring the family back Mother's Day. 3 of 5 dishes were salty, and we spent $200+ for 4 people. Service was good. It's located in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton, hence the high prices, its definitely not the quality of the food."

"My partner and I were taken to the West End Bistro for my birthday by an out-of-town friend. We'd been before, several yeas ago, and remembered that it was good. This time it was excellent. "We really like this restaurant but every time we go we are disturbed by the loud and uncontrolled bar scene. You can not get to your table (or to and from the rest rooms) without having to literally elbow your way through the throngs of standing up drinkers. Place is just not well laid out in that regard.
On our last visit the food was good but we have seen it better at other times. Hopefully just a less than brilliant choice of entrees. Based on past experiences we will definitely try it again. But they need to control the bar scene.

"Staff was wonderfully accommodating. Got there a bit late (called in advance) because of the awful storm, shown to a table but when I asked for a nearby booth they made the switch. Helpful server, good food. We'll return. Only glitch was valet parking. The line was so long on arrival and we were running late, so we used self-park, which turns out not to be run by the hotel. Instead of costing $8, we were hit with a $26 bill. It might be helpful to clarify that on the restaurant Website. Otherwise, lovely evening."

"We live close to WE Bistro and have been there a few times and it was good. Sat night was a bad experience for us all. All employees seemed inexperienced and ungracious. WE requested a booth and it was not available-no aplogies no alternatives nothing. And when we requested a certain vacant table we were told it had been requested. (SO why wasnt our booth held???)We were seated right next to the kitchen where there was alot of traffic and noisey. Our waiter seemed SO inexperienced. All the serving was delayed and sporadic. We ordered our entree-two ordered pork loin. A few minutes later someone else returned to tell us they were out-At 8:30? They brought the entrees to our table and the salad plates were not cleared-chaotic."

"I'm not sure what all the hype ia about. This ia a casual restaurant with very expensive small portions. I had tuna carpaccio, which was delicious, and the lobster salad. Maybe 2 pieces of lobster. My friend had soup, and it barely covered the bottom of the bowl. She ordered dessert, which was also tiny and expensive. We both left hungry. "My wife & I had tried this place before back in the summer and it was o.k., but this time around we thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and drinks. We sat in the bar area which was fine for us. They do have an upstairs that is small, but seats quite a few. Their patio is great for the summer:). Our waiter was great as he wasn't too busy at first, but as the night wore on, it became very crowded and he was rushing around to make sure everyone was taken care of. Our apps were fantastic & our entrees were delicious as well. I'd go back in a heartbeat."

"While an "upper-end" restaurant serving delicious food at higher prices, Westend Bistro did not pair its service with its prices. The room was lovely and our meals were quite tasty (my chicken was outstanding). Our server did not seem well informed about the menu, and presented the daily special only after we asked. The soup appetizer barely covered the bottom of the bowl. Our side dishes were presented without serving utensils until we asked for them."

"My wife and I thought it might be nice to give West End a try the other night and the reasons for not making this place a frequent destination were clear. No complaints about the service, but the food is expensive and just not that good. We started the night with a cocktail - and the barman made a decent Manhattan - but $14 for a pre-dinner drink is a little high. An order of fries was tender, but seasoned in a bowl used for the last guy's order of truffle fries. No biggie. Move on. Reviews said to try the fish burger, but the mushy cake was more of a mousse that didn't hold up to a bun. Poorly seasoned - some Old Bay would have gone far. My wife's mushroom pappardelle was the star - gorgeous presentation, but lacking in flavor."

"I arrived at the Westend Bistro' a little early, and was a little surprised that I was made to wait the five minutes before waiting to be seated. The hostess seemed a little stiff, but maybe that was just the impression I arrived at from her accent. I ordered a Bombay Sapphire martini and that was expertly made and brought out quickly. The RW menu was a limited selection of A or B options. I went with the cauliflower soup, the quiche, and the panna cotta dessert. It was all competently executed and tasty, but unremarkable. The quiche was nice and custardy, though. I know that with Restaurant Week there are limitations, but I felt like this was a bare bones RW menu. I would dine there again, but am not in a hurry to return."

"It is my fourth time at the Westend Bistro. It is very convenient to my office. This time I went with my wife. The food was quite good. There was a confusion with our order so the main dish came while we though we were waiting for a soup. Confusions are not uncommon and not a big deal, but we were very put off by the waiter's attitude when we pointed it out. He blamed us and did not much try to correct it. When my wife pushed a bit more (unusual for her) the waiter was unapologetic and repeated it was our fault. We are easy people and a simple "sorry ma'am" was all that was required."
