Bedford Post - The Barn
Set in the heart of Westchester County, Bedford Post provides the perfect backdrop for an exceptional dining experience. A contemporary American menu highlighting local seasonal ingredients, matched by an exceptional wine list. Bedford Post is home to two distinct restaurants – the casual “Barn”, which opened in early 2008, serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, and Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The formal dining room, dubbed the “Farmhouse”, opened in November of 2008. Finally, an eight-room luxury inn opened in mid 2009. Please visit our website for more information.

"We were a family of four celebrating Father's Day with brunch. The setting is lovely, we dined outdoors. The service was attentive. The menu is great and they will try to accommodate special requests. Everything was delicious including the fresh squeezed orange juice. Valet parking an added plus."

"My husband and I went to the The Barn at the Bedford Post Inn for an anniversary lunch. We were looking forward to something fun and festive. The food was very mediocre and I saw guests sending meals back. The most disappointing part, however, was the unpleasantness of the staff. Not one server or hostess smiled and the lack of interest in our enjoyment of the experience was overwhelming. Trying to get the attention of anyone, when we wanted more water or our check, was a full-on mime event. My husband was terrified that I was going to climb onto the tabletop and yell "are you kidding me?""

"The Barn is a lovely farm to kitchen style restaurant with an interesting & rewarding menu. I accompanied a friend to lunch and was seated promptly. The menu was simple with enough variety. The salad choices were unique. The one I ended up getting had quinoa, which is the ultimate grain, not often found as selection. I had a double bacon cheeseburger that was flavorful & cooked appropriately. Staff was accommodating but did take some time between taking our order, serving courses, and giving the check. The restaurant was also very busy & loud for a rainy Friday afternoon. Overall it was a great experience overall. I would definitely return to try more items on the menu as well as to see how the offerings change throughout the year."

"I ordered the Bedford post breakfast but asked to sub the sunny side up eggs for well cooked fried eggs.
He said" no problem". I got them sunny side up and runny. I sent them back and suggested the chef
Just turn them over to cook completely. Got them back, turned over but still bright orange and runny.
I gave up and just had them scrambled gut that took another 10 minutes.
Also, no refills of water or coffee were offered."

"I had a 1:30pm brunch reservation and when we arrived we choose outdoor seating and waited for 20 min. I was fine with waiting, but became concerned when the hostess kept informing walk-ins the "kitchen was closing soon" and she didn't want them to "feel rushed." Once seated, we had to wait for a server and were ready to order except they were out of most of the menu. In fact, they were out of our first, second and third choices and other items were missing pieces- for example, they had the burger but were missing the pickled beets that it came with. If we knew earlier I would've been annoyed but not as annoyed as I was after waiting. The food was good, but ultimately I traveled for a tuna melt because it was what was left. Disappointing."

"When I arrived at the Barn at the Bedford Post Inn, I was offered a "nice quiet table upstairs." I thought I'd try it. Then the hostess seated two large tables each with big groups of kids in the same small room. So I felt completely taken for a ride. Eventually the rest of my party arrived, and we were seated in the main room downstairs which is very pretty. Unfortunately, our server seemed to be in a bad mood, and she was very hard to find. And on top of it, the food arrived cold. The Barn at the Bedford Post Inn should be a nice brunch treat: good food, friendly reliable service, a pretty place. Last Saturday it was... a pretty place."

"The food at the bar was really great. When I read about it being one of the best brunches in Westchester I had high expectations of a quiet brunch with my family. The atmosphere was more vibrant and lively than we would have preferred, but the food made up for it. For a Sunday afternoon you will need reservations and if you don't mind the "buzz" then you must try this place. The pastries and homemade baked goods were amazing. I would definitely go back and enjoy the ambience during the summer time."

"We have been to the barn three times in the past 12 months. Each time the service, food and ambiance far exceed our expectations. I would highly recommend this lovely resturant for a quiet, relaxing brunch or for a romantic dinner. You may even get to see it's famous owner (Richard Gere) if you are as lucky as we were."

"We've been to The Barn several times for lunch and brunch -- it is delightful, low-key, and so relaxing -- the food and service are excellent. ! Nothing is missing. Our next plan is to try the more formal restaurant and also the inn. Richard Gere and Carrie Lowell have created a lovely place with a real neighborhood feel -- congratulations !"

"The decor is rustic & nice. This was my second visit and my last. Unfortunately, the breakfast menu was limited and over priced. "We were almost an hour late due to construction traffic on 684, but we were able to be seated right away indoors. The carrot soup special was the perfect starter, served within 5 minutes of our sitting down. It was beautiful and delicious, and got us started on the right foot. All entrees were wonderful. Our waitress forgot the drinks, forgot the fries and generally was mia in between courses, so that was a bit of a negative. She was however very friendly. We enjoyed our time there and I can't wait to go back. The outdoor eating area is a slice of heaven with wisteria peeking through the lattice overhead. A perfect Friday afternoon on a beautiful day spot for lunch!"

"Went for a Sunday brunch with my kids and their friends. The food was really good. I was impressed they remembered (from my booking) that one is gluten free. Unfortunately, the veggie burger had bread in it so not an option. The lettuce salad is a must! The toast with the Barn breakfast is one of a kind. The double burger and cheese comes with bacon but we were served without the bacon. We called this to their attention and they removed the full meal from the bill.. Got a bonus as the youngsters spotted some celebrities. This was my second time and already planning to introduce it to many other friends. Excellent guest relations."

"A spa atmosphere pervades the food and overall ambiance. I think this restaurant would be much more appreciated in the context of an inn stay and participation in a yoga class or two.
If we lived closer, we would definitely consider it a neighborhood gem as one can dine informally and without overdoing the calories."

"We went thinking it was Restaurant week menu. However their participation was Monday to Thursday and this was a Friday. Regular menu was just adequate. We did ask to view the Restaurant week menu which was less inviting. Food was good, not great. Portions were very small and prices high. I can't imagine what Restaurant week portions would have been. We opted for dessert since we were still hungry and choices were scant and ordinary. We saw a table of five leave when they also were expecting Restaurant week and realized only regular menu applied. There are too many better restaurants in the area to settle for this one. Not worth a return trip."

The waiter did not greet us, never asked how the meal was, whether we wanted anything else, more coffee or bread. Despite the room being small and not overcrowded, service was very slow and poorly paced. This was restaurant week and three entrees were offered, including scallop chowder - with no scallops; they ran out and substituted cod. portions were small, wine expensive. we won't be going back."

"The whole idea behind Restaurant Week is to introduce your venue to those that wouldn't normally go to your establishment, however I was very disappointed at the choices for the main course and the main course itself. I ordered the pork ragu with beans and what I got was a bowl of beans with hardly any pork, however, the gluten-free rolls and the brussels sprout with ricotta were delicious."

"The Bellini's were wonderful and the portobello mushroomburger was absolutely delicious. "Very disappointing. The restaurant week menu, which saved $5 over the usual pix fixe menu, had a terrible selection of food. I chose smoked pork which seemed to be baked beans swimming in sauce. You could not find more than a shred of actual meat in it. I have been consistently disappointed with the food here and will not return unless I hear big changes have been made."

"Great place to go for a lazy lunch or a healthy breakfast after yoga on premises. I have had both a Bat Mitzvah for my daughter and a Bar Mitzvah for my son at Bedford Post that were very memorable. Not just for the food ( which was fabulous), but for the beautiful setting. Careful attention was given to the outside as well as the inside."
