"Food was good and service wonderful. Very quiet for a weeekend night but is in financial district. Two big private rooms and probably gets packed on week nights. Would recommend. Perfect for an intimate group in a Saturday night. Felt as if we were their only concern and were well attended."

"Our dining experience was wonderful! The food was amazing - The staff were VERY accommodating! Service was a bit slow, it wasn't busy, so that wasn't the problem. We had a bit too much "down time". BUT, if you are out for a relaxed dinner and want great food along with a good experience, then please go to Palio! Our waiter, Martini, (how do you like that name!?!) was incredibly personable! I had a special request, wasn't sure if they could/would be agreeable. The owner himself, Mr. DeGrande, came to our table, he was very pleasant . He came back to our table later to check in. If we visit San Fran again, we will certainly return to Palio d'Asti! I just hope that we will get Martini again for service! Mr. DeGrande, give Martini a raise ! ;)"

"Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding for a reasonable price - you pay for the number of courses you order, basically independent of what you actually order. The wood-fired pizza was really terrific. Our friend had multiple had multiple food allergies, and they took great pains to prepare an outstanding meal for her that accounted for all her restrictions."

"Restaurant experience was great. The service was the most impressive. I left my computer at the restaurant and the owner drove it to my hotel and met me in the lobby with it. He could have easily waited until the following day and had me pick it up. Instead he went the extra mile to ensure his customer was happy. They do the same at the restaurant while dining there."

"Service very slow and uneven. We thought the happy hour specials were served in dining room, waitstaff was not helpful with this and was inattentive. Food was inconsistent at best. Pizza margarita was almost inedible, pork entre was recommended by waiter but was dry and over-cooked, and the tongue appetizer lacked seasoning. Items on meanu were not individually priced so made ordering difficult."

"I have eaten a Palio d'Asti on a number of occasions and typically like the food a lot. However, on this visit, I thought my main course was not great. The polenta in particular was very runny and not very tasty."

"I've been going here for years but haven't been recently. The place is looking a little tired and the menu needs updating. Although the food was good, for the price both the food and ambiance should be better."

"Although the restaurant is quite large, it feels cozy and warm inside, and has a vibrant but not-too-loud atmosphere. Excellent menu - delicious pastas and salads. Great spot for a business lunch."

"In the past, we have enjoyed Palio but not last Saturday night. Pizza was fishy in smell, risotto OK but no longer a special place, especially when it was a party of seven. We learned Sunday it has new owners and chef. Wish we new that before and not on their website. Just a financial district place for an OK lunch."

"To be honest, I am not sure why this place was so packed...
The carpaccio I ordered was very good, it was good enough that it didn't need the sauce, just the cheese, crispy capers and the greens...
The stuffed calamari that my companion ordered was fresh and grilled beautifully, however, the filling was bland and paste-like.
Unfortunately the rest of the meal was pretty much a disappointment. His pasta was fine but the sauce tasted canned. My risotto didn't taste like seafood but, pepper, and it wasn't the proper rice.
Dessert wasn't much better.
Service was slow."

"I really enjoyed my lunch at Palio. I recommend the pizza (any) and the entree salads. I had the chicken salad, it was very good and not over dressed."

"The food was not as good as it usually is the last 2 times we had lunch there. Very bland pasta dish with overcooked noodles. Perhaps they had changes in the kitchen? I will still go back based on many prior positive experiences and the excellent service."

"The food was great, the waitress very attentive and the manager came over and greeted us with a welcome back, even though we hadn't been in there in almost a year. Wonderful experience!"

"This was an okay experience. The food and service was very good, and it's a nice space. My experience would have been much better if our table hadnt been wedged in between other tables on either side. Getting up and down was uncomfortable, having to turn sideways and not taking the tablecloth with me as I went. Also, it's hard to have conversation when people are sitting next to you. There were plenty of other tables free, but it looked like they were being held back for larger groups that never showed."

"Prices were way to expensive for small portion. Food was ok. I had thin pasta with tomato sauce and pieces of crab meat (about $25--not worth the price--I can cook way better). My friend had 3 course meal: braise short ribs with polenta, hearts of romaine with walnuts and dates and calamari (all 3 together was about $39). Nothing memorable. Won't come back. Service was good and place was nice."
