"We loved the food, but were disappointed that the first two wines we ordered were not available. Also the outdoor patio was closed probably for lack of reservations, but their excuse was it was too windy, and it was a very calm night. I guess as the "Season" draws to a close they don't want to be overstocked with expensive wines, and it's quieter than usual. The pianist was fabulous, and the service was good."

"A little pricey for quality. The waiter helped some by saying one was able to order a half salad. Flavors and preparation were good but there really wasn't anything outstanding. Enjoyed the meal but will not rush back."

"We had a nice meal at Desert Sage; the swordfish was prepared well and served with a nice dill sauce, the grilled artichokes were also very good. The menu is a little limited and is heavily concentrated in meats/steaks, also disappointing to see farmed "King" salmon instead of wild."

"Had dinner with my hubby there after the La Quinta art show and really enjoyed it. Waiter was very professional and the other staff enthusiastic. I had the salmon which was prepared medium rare and presented to a "t". They have a good selection of wine by the glass and, much to hubby's delight, Fat Tire beer. A lovely evening after a busy day."

"Had not been here for a couple of years. My recollection was that the food was good, but the place was a bit pricey. Was pleasantly surprised because the food (swordfish and halibut)was really great, and prices were reasonable. Much more activity than I remember. Bar was hopping. I highly recommend."

"Went there with another couple with whom we have been to numerous different restaurants, and our second visit with them to the Desert Sage. We always enjoyed the food and the ambiance, but this time the food was not if I may say "up to par". It is our neighborhood gem and plan to continue to dine and support them. Am pretty sure it was one of those evenings where the chef was not at his best of moods and patience?"
