With a name referring to the six-sided shape of France, Hexagone offers a culinary tour of that country with an extensive menu that blends traditional French dishes with updated California cuisine. "San Diego has no shortage of great restaurants. When looking for exceptional French cuisine the choices really narrow down. The food was delicious, service spot on (rare in French restaurants even outside of France) and a nice wine list. When looking for French, this is a winner."

"Took my wife for Mother's Day brunch. I had the steak and eggs and she had the boneless spareribs. Both were really good, but those spareribs...very tender and tasty! Service was great. Didn't always bother you. We will be back."

"Nine of us decided to go out to an early dinner after attending a matinée performance at the Old Globe. A quick reservation was made on Open Table and a quick response was made by the restaurant when we arrived. A table had been set up; the service was timely and unobtrusive and the food was excellent."

"We have been going to Hexagone for several years and, until this past week-end's experience, it has always been a favourite. This past Saturday lunch we took 2 friends and, wouldn't you know, just when you have people with you, it was disappointing.
Over a 1.5 hour period, we were the only ones in the restaurant which makes me worry about their future.
The service is usually extremely friendly and efficient. This time we had a server who gave the impression he would rather be somewhere else. We had to ask for several things, eg. second glasses of wine, and he made it seem like an imposition and was actually quite rude at one point.
All in all, not the dining experience we are used to there and we may think twice before returning."

Loved that the waiter had an accent...made the French theme seem more authentic. Great food, reasonable prices and portions. "Was always enjoy the casual elegance and well-prepared food at Hexagone. There is no big fuss, just very good food, and I appreciate the traditional white-tablecloth serenity that this good restaurant provides. The service is -- idiosyncratic -- sometimes friendly and professional, sometimes indifferent, bordering on rude, and friends have reported the same problem, but we all keep coming back. Great place to dine before or after the theater."

"Went here for a date night - this restaurant seems popular with the 50+ crowd. The tables for two were a bit too close together to be romantic. Our appetizers were okay, not great (field green salad was missing candied walnuts and lobster bisque was small and dull). We ordered wine from the "premium" section of the menu and they also disappointed. However, our main courses (duck and short ribs) were delicious! I would recommend going only for the entrees."

"Excellent Service. Ambiance enjoyable. The scallops with grapefruit sauce was amazing!! My ravioli was delicious. The Duck my son had was too salty and he did not enjoy it too much. We did not send it back, but probably should have done so. Otherwise an enjoyable meal. We walked across the street to have dessert and after dinner drinks at Mr. A's. Absolutely beautiful view on a gorgeous night."

"We booked Hexagone for a business dinner. Long story short, this was a mistake. Hexagone is a local place and certainly not in the league of a sophisticated location. Food and service was ordinary although well intentioned. Beware the live music!!"

"Our server had a great sense of humor and joked with us the entire time we were there. The food was excellent. The wine list was extensive and had several wines we enjoy. The service was very good but that may have been due to the early dinner hour and the few number of patrons."
