"I have been here a few times - I have to say, I am not wowed by this place. I usually have Liz as a server (who is PHENOMENAL!!) but she didn't appear to be working this time. I had the Brioche French Toast which was okay - my favorite part was the lemon mascarpone which was delicious! My friend and I ordered a side of ham which, as we were told it came with two thick slices, we were going to split. When it got to our table it was one thin, sad slice of ham...for $6!!! So not worth it!! Our server was pretty good - when we brought up the fact that he had told us there would be two slices, he got another one and said because it was his error, it was on him. Mimosas were good. Overall, though, I think there are better options for brunch."

"The food was really good. A lot of their stuff comes from the garden right outside the dining room. The octopus started, which obviously did not come from the garden, was excellent and well cooked. Everything on the menu read yum, and was. Had breakfast there too, there's buffet (which for a buffet breakfast looked fantastic), but ordered off the menu instead, eggs benedict, yum."

"They try to do too much with each dish. 3 out of 4 diners disliked their dishes. Complaints included:
* too many competing strong flavors that created an unbalanced, unpleasant swordfish dish * cold food that should have been hot * mussels that smelled too fishy and had to be sent back * asparagus soup (that had absolutely no flavor of asparagus) also came with crab meat that tasted very fishy
The service was warm and friendly, but we all left feeling like the experience was a waste of $50."

"We were very pleased. Staff had read our comment on the reservation, that we would be watching the time as we had another engagement, and made us aware that they knew that, and told us not to worry," they would take care of us" We walked in a few minutes early, and before serving time, and were taken to a table, and were able to have a drink, and then order our dinner. Daniel , our server, made sure that everything went off like clockwork, without being in the way, and we had time to spare. We plan to come back, especially when we have time to linger on"

"Extremely relaxing place with great selection for vegetarians. The food was exquisite. the service was poor, with the staff forgetting our drinks twice, no one checked in on us for a while and we had to find someone to help us get butter for the table."

"Everything about the Carneros continues to improve. The salads and entrees were outstanding. Coffee rubbed filet mignon...excellent! The salmon was perfect!! Great wine list. Very good, but not great, service. Many more locals continue to come. Not just a hotel restaurant but now a wonderful Sonoma dining destination."

"I've been here for bar food in the evening and it is usually a fun, and relaxing place to hang out and watch a game or enjoy good conversation. Have eaten brunch here a couple times now and the food has been consistently well prepared and pretty good quality. The service is always good too! If Christine waits on you you're in for a treat!"

"We asked for and were seated in the private room off of the main dining area. This is perfect for an exuberant birthday celebration. However, when you're " out of sight....." the server (Daniel) was on average attentive but could have been more timely. All 8 diners remarked on the fabulous food and multiple good choices. Quite worth the ride up from SF and we love introducing friends to this wonderful restaurant."

"The Carneros Bistro is a very solid restaurant located at the Renaissance Sonoma Lodge and Spa. The food, service, and overall ambience was good. Dinner was well priced and tasty, but the breakfast at $60 with tip for two was overpriced in comparison to the quality and value of the food. Room service at the hotel, prepared by the same restaurant, was a better value given the convenience od the service."

"The food here is close to exquisite. I had the asparagus with buratta to start, and it was much more than its name implies, with tasty crunchy stuff which I can't identify but added a wonderful surprise. The lamb was perfect in a red wine sauce, accompanied by delicious quinoa and young peas and tendrils, which also were perfect. It is so unusual to find a restaurant which respects sides so fully. The dessert menu was a bit disappointing and heavy, so I had the lemon tart which was nice. This is the only reason I would not give an outstanding for the food. As to the ambiance, the techno non-music they played was very distracting with its constant repetitious riffs & beats which would drive a musician nuts. Otherwise, unobstrusive."

"Food and service were exceptional for a chain hotel linked restaurant . Decor was nice but the techno music in the background was out of place for the type of place and very annoying."

"We had a wonderful dinner, pork and sea bass. Hadn't eaten there in a number of years but thought the food and our experience was outstanding and will be back soon. The suggested wine pairings worked well and were innovative."

"We love Carneros Bistro. We stay at the Lodge at Sonoma frequently and have brunch and or dinner regularly at the adjacent Bistro while we're there. It's a short walk to the room after a wine dinner. We sit outside with our Chocolate lab near the gardens where they grow their own vegetables and herbs. The food is always fresh, creative and delicious. Daniel usually serves us, and he's a treat. Chris, the sommalier, helped us with some excellent wines for this last visit. There were six of us so we brought two bottles and bought two so they waived corkage. The Sicilian swordfish was wonderful as was the lamb sirloin. This is one of our fav restaurants in Sonoma."

"You just can't miss with the Carneros Bistro! We've taken friends there, gone in for a bite, celebrated major events, and the other day just wanted a nice brunch. Savory omelettes - even egg white-only, great coffee, and a nice airy setting for a Sunday morning."

"Found this place just driving around Sonoma. Great place to try wine in the bar for starters. But dinner is a must. Had crab asparagus soup that was delicious. Had a red wine flight that was a great match to my Lamb Shank on Mushroom Risotto. It was done perfectly...fell off the bone and was very tender. Risotto was rich and creamy and was a nice match with the Lamb. If I lived in the area I would be back. Maybe in couple years."

"The food is some of the finest I have had in the wine country. The risotto was excellent- tasty and very rich. The ahi tuna and hangar steak were both very tasty and perfectly cooked. The presentation of the food and the fine service contributed to a most enjoyable evening. We will be back soon. The wine list is extensive and the staff is very familiar with even the more esoteric selections. My only minor criticism would be to liberate the complimentary oyster from its heavy and overpowering sauce."

"A nice restaurant - especially for one connected with a hotel. Dinner started out with some difficulty when we asked the first server that came over if they would be OK with us bringing in wine, and what their corkage fees were. She said outside wine was fine - and the corkage was $30!! When we groan, she said - well maybe is is $15 - well, let me check... When we got another waiter over, he said it was none of those, and they would be glad to open it for us. After that - all got a lot better. Decor is just OK, a little noisy, but the food and service were very good. Would recommend."

"The food was great however one salad portion appeared to suffer from being popular - called a wedge but no wedge sight - we should have been told the dish not unavailable. The sommelier was engaging but didn't quite consider our preferences as much as his pairing to food. Hence it was good wine but not what we had hoped for... We concluded since we are local enough that we would return but for bar scene only."
