"They added an additional $23 tip to my credit card after I left, on top of the $7 tip I actually left while at the restaurant. Hard to know if it was accidental or not. They adjusted the bill after I called them on it!!"

"This is one of my favorite restaurants - for food. Unfortunately, the service is VERY hit and miss. We have a waiter that obviously dislikes children; we have had wonderful, personable service. Overall, service seems to be slower than it should be. My last meal took over two hours."

"We were recommended this restaurant from a friend. We were seated in a booth that was tucked away from everything else, except for a very loud birthday party with a lot of people. This was all we could hear or see. Our waitress was not very good, we felt like we were an inconvenience to her. The wine was good, food was ok. We won't be back."

"This place is great if you like good food and a good bottle of wine at a great price. Also like that you can shop next door in their wineshop and bring the bottle to the restaurant and you will not be charged a corkage fee."

"Since I am being asked for an honest opinion...I have not been to Spasso for maybe two years This was definitely not the best meal our group has had there. Some of the food was not served hot...my friend returned her soup because it was not hot only to have it returned only a bit warmer. She chose not to return it again. Another said the dough on her flatbread didn't seem to be fully baked, but the salad was quite good. I had the salad and pasta special and I found the alfredo to be pasty. The chopped salad was very good."

"It was probably partly because of the long winter, but we sat outside on the first warm Monday night in 7 months or so and everybody loved it. A work group of 7 and the weather was perfect. Server was attentive, but did not suggest specials, nor knew the soup of the day, but he was a good guy and we had a great time."

"Fantastic food - wonderful gluten free selection. I had the Tuscan Pollo pizza on gluten free crust and was able to try someone else's vegetarian lasagna since that was also gluten free. Everyone at our table finished their entire meal - it was that good! Excellent happy hour prices especially for a Saturday night! Our server wasn't great, but sitting outside on a nice day when you're not in a rush didn't make it a huge factor. I'll be going back :)"

"I have always loved spasso, & was really looking forward to this visit. It had been awhile since we've eaten there, & I definitely noticed that the portion sizes were much smaller, but the prices were the same. I always get the vegetarian lasagne, the item this time did not look pretty on the plate - it was basically a small blob on the center of the plate - it used to be a nice solid piece that was relatively thick. I think for $15 it should be more than a few ounces of food. Same goes for the cheesecake - that used to be a towering piece of pure bliss, now it is very flat for the same price. My husband got the cioppino, he said it was good, but a little fishy. Not as good as some other places. The food was fine, but I want old spasso back"

"As usual, the food at Spasso was just adequate. The dishes always sound good on the menu, but they don't live up to expectations. The kitchen doesn't seem to care how the food comes out. The restaurant is very noisy. It's sometimes hard to carry on a conversation. Why do I go back there, you might ask. Well, it's a convenient location, and there aren't a lot of other choices."

"We came for dinner and some wine and have eaten here before. The food is good, but not often "show stopping" good.
We started with a wine selection from the from the adjacent wine store and it was just right. The wine was being sampled and the gentlemen sampling was pleasant but not very helpful when we asked for other wine suggestions.
We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was OK. Seasoning was lackluster and it was a bit chewey. The bone-in ribeye I had was very good. Very flavorful and cooked perfectly. My wifes crab cakes were a little too "deep fried" for her taste.
Our waiter was pleasant, but very inexperienced."

"Our visit was a birthday celebration, enhanced by the food, wine and general atmosphere of the restaurant. The noise level was at a busy and vibrant level which made it hard to hear lower speech tones, but did not interfere with our general conversation. Our meal was memorable and delicious. The service was helpful and punctual and the food was hot, tasty and perfectly portioned.

"We have been to this restaurant a number of times. Overall, it is very good, but it can be inconsistent. On this visit, I had the filet mignon and it was very average. Previously I have enjoyed various pasta dishes, and they have been very good to exceptional. Also on this visit, three others in my party had pasta dishes that were somewhat crispy, yet the proteins were barely warm -- not the best we've had. However, we will definitely go back because we like the atmosphere, and I think they generally have good food and good service at a fair price."

"We had a very good dinner at Spasso. There were four of us and I would consider us foodies. I was very impressed with the food quality and the value. I would highly recommend the signature dishes featuring Risotto. Wonderful flavor! The wine store connection was a huge plus as well. "After starting out with the best Ceasar salad I have ever had in my life, the rest of the dining experience was a complete disappointment.
I ordered the Oso Buco, which was served on a pile of risotto, with the juice poured over the top. I simply could not get over the overwhelming smokey flavor, which also seeped into the risotto.
The server was very apologetic and had the manager offer me something more to my liking. She insisted I try the Prime Rib. While I waited I tried my wife's alfredo, which was very bland.
The Prime Rib was horrible. There was no seasoning. No crust. It literally looked like it was hacked off the roast with a dull knife, warmed a little and served up with Au Jus."

"Had a very nice dinner with my son and daughter in law. Our server was very good and nice -- very attentive- but didn't try to entertain us, which I don't like. When I mentioned we were celebrating a 30th Birthday -- he came out with ice cream and a candle. The food was excellent! The prices are good, as well."

"We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday - a fact I noted in my reservation info. I was a little disappointed that that fact was ignored - a minor irritation.
I ordered a steak cooked medium, but it came out burned. I complained to the waiter, but said I would try one more bite. All I could taste was burn. It took the waiter forever to get back to me. By the time he got back to us the rest of my family had finished their dinners. I sent the steak back and a new one was brought out promptly. It wasn't burned, but it was tasteless. In fact, all the food was at best okay, nothing special.
I'm afraid I can't recommend the food at Spasso."

"Lovely little dinner. Prices, for food and top-notch wines, are very reasonable. My Osso Bucco was huge, but the garlic mashed potatoes underneath ended up being "soupy" and inedible -- put them on the side or in a side dish instead.
My date's Copper River Salmon was excellent, and the bottle of Shiraz lived up to its rating."

"We love Spasso. It's our neighborhood retreat and a favorite for lunch and dinner. Best of all, it has an attached wine shop, where you can purchase a bottle and bring it into the restaurant without corkage fee. Also, there is a terrific wine list with numerous by-the-glass options, priced very reasonably. All listed wines are carried by the adjacent wine shop, so you can buy what you sampled in the restaurant. Bottle prices in the restaurant are identical to the wine shop - amazingly no markup! Servers are knowledgeable about the wine-food pairings, so the whole experience is enhanced. We love to bring friends to Spasso, and introduce them to this innovative concept."
