"It was my husband's birthday. I made sure to put that in my comments when I made my reservation. I then called the restaurant to make sure they saw my comment. They did see my comment and would make sure to let my server know that it was a special occasion. The server "paid" for my husband's dessert. This was our second time at this restaurant and again our whole experience with the restaurant was superb."

"Myself and 3 others checked out FireLake Grill House on a Sunday night. It was relatively quiet, but the food was exceptional. The waitress said they made a "mean pork chop," so I decided to try it and it was perfectly prepared. Our group also ordered the walleye, a ribeye steak and pizza... each was well received. One of our group members was also celebrating his birthday and the restaurant was kind of enough to let him select any dessert off their menu for free... certainly a nice guesture that most restaurants do not match to that magnitude. Overall, we were very impressed with FireLake Grill House and will visit again in the future."

"I went to this restaurant for a casual business meeting during Restaurant Week. There was only one lunch option and it was a poor option. I actually had to take the fish off my sandwich and eat it as a BLT because it was charred, dry and very fishy. I am a fish lover, but this sandwich was not up to par. The wild rice soup was very tasty, and the red velvet cupcake was also good but the main dish left much to be desired. If this is what the restaurant is offering as a stimulus for a return visit, business will be slow. The restaurant felt like what it is...a hotel restaurant. I will not be back."

One reservation, the wait staff isn't as speedy as I thought they'd be. Perhaps it's because they aren't young, perhaps they want us to wait, I'm not sure. This is difficult for business. Schedule on a slower day."

"I had eaten lunch at Fire Lake on several occasions, but until last Saturday night I had never had dinner there. The food was great and our server was very good. The wine list was excellent and moderately priced. There were 4 of us and we started with the Duck and Fig flatbread, which was excellent. Our entress included, the Pork Chop, Rottiserie Strip Loin and the Walleye and each of them was well prepared and very tasty! The final touch was dessert and the Maple Bread Pudding was "to die for". I would go back in a heartbeat!"

"I chose FireLake Grill House for a 'first' date with a new man I met on-line. Now,this
is important because not knowing him well, I was looking for a romantic restaurant with a menu diverse enough for one who may not be very hungry to someone who is very hungry; as well as prices ranging from $8 to $28 as I didn't want to put him on the spot with only 'expensive' meals. We had a comfortable booth which was romantic and great for quiet conversation."

"All parts of our meals were very tasty from the soups to the main courses (buffalo ribeye and walleye)to the wonderful dessert. Our waiter was very attentive - knowledgeable but not unnecessarily intrusive. We were glad to learn that the restaurant utilizes local produce as much as possible. The menu choices are extensive with some unusual touches. We asked for a quiet area in which to eat and they accommodated that. All around a good experience. We will return."

"I've enjoyed eating at the FireLake Grill House in the past at lunch and dinner. I've enjoyed it, my husband didn't like the prices. Now I've discovered a new way to enjoy this restaurant...breakfast! What a great selection of breakfast food. It's everything you'd expect but a lot more: healthful selections that are creative and abundant, very high quality ingredients with a local twist: choke cherry syrup was nummy on the wildrice pancakes, canadian bacon that's sweet and smoky. And I checked to make sure a table was available through opentable.com (best feature). Very comfortable seating and atmosphere. Great service. Downtown (where I live)."

"This was my second time dining at FireLake and again I didn't have a good experience. The food didn't appear to match the menu description and it wasn't good either. It took way too long to bring out a salad and a mini walleye sandwich and the waitress didn't stop by to explain the wait or say anything. The waitress never asked us how our meals were after she dropped them off. At the end she came back, saw that I didn't even eat half of the meal and didn't say anything about it. Didn't ask me if I wasn't happy with it, didn't ask me if I wanted to put it in a box, just took it."

"The duck and fig flatbread was delicious. I had the lamb entree and that was also very good. I can wait to come back and try out some other items on the menu! "As usual, FireLake did not disappoint. Having been married at the Radisson, we are quite familiar with this Minneapolis gem. If only all restaurants adjacent to Hotels would provide an experience like this. We have never had a bad experience, or any food that was not outstanding at FireLake. For a change of pace, we have stopped in for NHL and NFL games for a burger and a beer or two. Unpretentious, but has the menu to be if they really wanted. Wholly recommended, I tell everyone that it is one of my favorite restaurants in all of MN."

"Had a wonderful and romantic Valentine's Day dinner! The service was friendly and efficient. My wife had the steak fries and said it was quite possibly the best steak she has ever had. I had the Rotisserie Chicken with mashed potatoes. The meat was very tender and flavorful and the potatoes were creamy with chives. "I love FL. It is by far my favorite restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. Excellent food, much of it locally sourced and/or organic. "exceellent. Food is always wonderful. never dissapointed. We were meeting snother couple and we arrived first. We were escorted to the back at the cooking area, center table. Very noisy. We asked if we could move to a quieter area and were seaed in the same area at a roud booth. Still very noisy, although staff did turn down music when asked. But still a noisy area, not conducive to visiting. Staff asked if we would like to move to the quieter dining area. Perfect. It probably wasn't convenient to wait staff, but very nice for us. We appreciated their assistance. One of the party wears hearing aids and the noise level, including music made it almost impossible to tolerate."

"I chose Firelake for my birthday dinner based on its online menu, but also because they use local, sustainably grown products. We had a splendid meal with plenty of good food--in fact, we had trouble selecting between a number of wonderful entrees. Prices were reasonable, and the menu had suitable lunch choices at lunch prices. Tom, our waiter, was charming and attentive without being annoying, and the manager came over to encourage our 4yo daughter to sing happy birthday to me when they brought out the complementary dessert. "I regretted not sending my lamb and veggies back to be replaced with something appropriately hot. My wife's strip steak was redone and it was great, finally. It wasn't a disaster and we had a wonderful breakfast in the morning at the same place (try the Minnesota Walleye Hash), so I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this place, but I have to be honest about our experience. "The first thing you should know is this restaurant is attached to a hotel. We waited 20 minutes in a line of hotel guests and when we finally got up to the front they didn't greet us pleasantly, acknowledge our reservation, apologize for the wait... Our waiter informed us immediately that he was new and would be very slow. He was quite slow but was very nice and tried hard. At this point I was a little embarrassed about my choice of brunch location (we invited friends) but that was alleviated a little when our food came as it was very good. Good menu, interesting options, fair price.
IF you happen to be staying at the Radisson in downtown Minneapolis I would suggest you give it a try, otherwise there are a lot better options."

"The food was good and we enjoyed the emphasis on locally produced and MN favorites. The walleye was very good as recommended by our waitstaff. Nice and warm by the kitchen but a little bit noisy for conversation."

"Food was good. Our group had walleye, pork chops, steak, etc. We sat close to the hotel entrance which had people back and forth by our table. I had my back to it so it was not as disruptive. If I was facing the lobby, that opinion would have been different. The lighting was nice and relaxing.

"We enjoyed a fine Thanksgiving Day dinner at Firelake. Classic turkey dinner wss well prepared -- the bird was moist, the dressing and gravy were fine. The service was outstanding, especially on such a long aND busy day (our reservation wasn't until 5:00). One unexpected surprise -- when we were finished we were presented with a bag of turkey sandwiches to take home!"

"We really appreciated the fresh local ingredients and the grass fed meat. It was Thanksgiving dinner and they made it special with a nice variety of twists on standard fair. It took a while for the waiter to warm up to us. I thought that was odd. The most difficult part of the day was deciding what to order. We will definately return and try some other parts of the menu."
