"Went to Hula Grill on recommendation from a local work colleague who is a frequent diner there. Was seated outside along the balcony wall with a great view overlooking Waikiki Beach behind the Outrigger Hotel - beautiful view! Started with a glass of Pinot Noir and the Thai Basil Shrimp Lumpia appetizer - delicious. Enjoyed a Cruncy Beet, Feta, and Asian Pear Salad before being served the evening's dinner special which included two types of fish, steamed vegetables, and rice. Finished off the event with the Homemade Ice Cream Sandwich...
From beginning to end, the server was friendly, welcoming, and prompt with drinks and food. A perfect evening!"

"Omelettes were dry and not well-combined with their ingredients. All ingredients were poorly mixed in the omelettes. Pancakes were boring (not anticipated sweetbread which should have been fluffier and sweet on their own) and had to be sent back because they were cold. Service was in attentive, slow albeit nice. Won't be back to this restaurant."

"The evening was magical thanks to the setting, the food and the excellent service level provided by the staff.
Kevin our server was really great; he was knowledgeable and definitely was part of the charm of the Hula Grill. The rest of the server and seating staff was very friendly and effective.

"It must have been a bad day for service. We saw our server twice the whole time we were there. I stood up to ask someone else for coffee twice, and once for napkins for my friend. The person who brought my food spilled my tortilla chips on the table but did not offer to give me some clean ones."

"The breakfast entrees my husband and son ordered (Kalua Pork Hash and Pork Belly Benedict should be listed as mini-meals because they were definitely teeny-tiny. The pork belly pieces must have been about 2" square on the tiniest of taro rolls and the Kalua Pork Hash which was tasty was also in the "oh, nothing for left-overs" category. I ordered crab omelet which was pretty decent-sized but the potatoes must have cooled while sitting somewhere in the kitchen. Go if you are on a diet or want to lose weight. Probablly not going back for breakfast. Might give Sunset Special a chance. Best part was $5 parking for 3 hours which is kinda sad when we went for breakfast, eh?"

"As a local, I was expecting Hula Grill to offer "touristy" food, however I was surprised with the quality of food at Hula Grill, and that they offered local meat, and locally sourced food. "We made our reservation at the last minute so the only open time was at 4:45pm, right at the start of the evening dinner shift. This turned out to be great as the staff were all pleasant and not yet tired from their shift. We got a seat right away and right at the railing toward the beach. Wonderful views from our location. Our waiter was very friendly and professional and gave us the right amount of attention,
My wife and I had drinks, I the Mai Tai and her the Hula Hito. Both were very good and the price was as expected for the area. I had the Seafood Special ($35) and she the Early Bird Special ($25) and choose the Braised Short Ribs. Both were prepared very well. We will return again on our next trip."

"I made reservations for my birthday on 2/8. My husband and I sat down at 4:45pm. Danielle, our waitress, was wonderful, and made us feel at home and taken care of. She was thorough, attentive and engaging. We wanted to stay for the sunset and I worried we would have to leave the table before the sun set. Danielle did not hurry us, and let us take our time enjoying our cocktails before we ordered an appetizer. We ended up having only 2 appetizers and then Danielle brought me a complimentary delicious brownie/ice cream dessert. My husband and I were able to watch the sun go down completely and I took some great photos of it. When the sun was setting, several people came around our table to take photos of the sunset. "We were late for our reservation and were delighted that they still seated us.
We missed the best table overlooking the water but we were seated so we could still see the beautiful ocean view.
Our meal was delicious; we ordered the lobster dumplings they were scrumptious. For our entree course we both ordered grilled and sauteed fish. My fillet was undercooked, the waiter quickly took it back to the kitchen and returned with a freshly grilled to perfection piece. The service was excellent; our waiter and all of the other wait staff served us with smiles.
We will definitely return to the Hula Grill when we return to Waikiki to enjoy another wonderful meal, great service and a fantastic view of the sunset."

The food was good, however, the dish I ordered (shrimp and scallops with pasta) was drowning in garlic and would have liked it better if the flavors were allowed to be tasted on their own. The sauce to go with the bread was outstanding!"

"This was our second visit to the Hula Grill in one week . . . it's just that amazing!
The sunset view is unbeatable, with beachside tables, tiki torches and swaying palm trees to set the mood.
The cocktail menu is creative and delicious, but it is the food and service that really shine.
This trip, we started with the potsticker duo (amazing) and baked potato soup . . . entrees were mahi-mahi with macadamia crust and grilled lemon-ginger chicken . . . desserts were mango-raspberry sorbet and "mini" ice cream sandwich (huge). Everything was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and at a pace that allowed good conversation and sunset watching. The waitstaff is efficient, friendly and helpful.
The Hula Grill is worth the trip."

"We went for dessert after brunch this past weekend. The desserts (ice cream sandwich and creme brulee) were really tasty and the view was very lively. I would say that it is more casual than romantic. The only problem I saw was that the service was slightly slow. As in, when we wanted to order something we could not find our server as quickly as we wanted to. I loved sitting on the patio and having dessert."
