"Initial wait time 45 min. After 20 min we were offered place at the communal table which we did not take and were looking for a seperate table. Then she said 45 min wait time again. I asked but still we are next in wait. A guy thr replied absolutely.
After around 40 min everyone who came after us were getting table when we asked what about us, she said they have reservations and your wait time is 45 min again. I asked how many ppl are ahead of us , she said there are 300 ppl with resetvations.
I went back and placed a resrrvation from my phone and got table .
If you are that busu ppl tell us resetvation is mandatory at this time.
Atleast our time is also as valuable as yours.
**** but still I accept great food and rest of service."

"This was our first time dining @ Dosa. We had the 3 course price fixed lunch. There were many dishes to choose from. Our server was very helpful in describing the various dishes and all were great, except for a mixed vegetable entree that had very undercooked asparagus & very al dente potatoes in it. Not my favorite, but everything else was quite good. Will definitely return..."

"My husband and I went out for a date to celebrate his birthday. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender gave us great recommendations and service. I would definitely recommend this for any special occasions, you are never rushed out. Love Dosa!"

"I love the feel of this place, even better in the evening. The rawa masala dosa was good, moong salad was refreshing, chicken and brinjal curry was excellent. The mimosas could have been made better. Service was slow, drinks were served after the starters."

"This was my first time dining and been wanting too. Had anniversary dinner and girlfriend loved it. The waiter was very helpful and suggested two great cocktails that went well with the food. I did not care too much for the "sauces" or the pickled veggies and thought it was a little strong for my taste but girlfriend loved it. Evewrything else from the fish entree, the dosa and especially the veggie sliders was amazing.

"This was my second dinner at Dosa and it was a excellent as my first meal! My friends and I shared a variety of small plates, each was vibrant with spices . I love the dosa crepes but decided this time to try the Uttadam with the roasted wild mushrooms. It was just delicious! Lots of mixed mushrooms, the the uttadam crepe was a perfect platform to show off the mushrooms. I detected a bit of truffle oil which binder the mushroom flavors. My friends had the tasting menu and enjoyed every dish!
The bar's offerings are always a revelation. I had one of the best gin and tonics made from Blade Gin.
I will return for another meal."

The bhatura was overcooked (burnt) and the desert (payasam) seemed a few days old. Service and ambience were good but lesson learnt - will go on dosa on valencia which is way better..."

"DOSA on Fillmore is a regular stop for my wife and me when visiting Japantown. The service at DOSA is outstanding, which is great, because maybe you need a little guidance with the menu, and also a little guidance on just how it is you eat those delicious items (dosas, particularly) spilling over the edges of your plate.
If you stick to the dosa / uttapam side of the menu you will find the check, when it comes, is quite reasonable, considering just how good your dosa or uttapam was. And don't forget to order some paratha - always a treat."

"This was my third time back to Dosa in as many years, and I really enjoyed it. I always go for what is new and in season, but incorporate one dosa and one uttapam whenever I dine. They offered a wide array of choices (vegetarian/vegan/GF) which was of particular note for us. Excellent choices from appetizers through dessert, curry through sides, and many lovely drinks too. "Stick to their specialties - Dosas and Uttapans - I have always been happy with those, and they aren't too pricey. My boyfriend tried the three course meal, but we thought that it just wasn't as good a value. Although, given that it was his first time there, he appreciated trying many things. The drinks are yummy too - we both went for a nonalcoholic option - the monsoon - that was fantastic."

"Dosa has a great interior decor and very good service. However, the food is no where close to south indian cuisine. The food is too Americanized and ever simplicities like chutney and sambar which are standard accompaniments for dishes are not good. If the idea is to introduce a person to simple south indian cuisine, I'm sorry to say Dosa falls considerably below the mark."

"I love to come back here time and again. I've only visited the one on Filmore and it was probably my 5th-6th visit. As usual, everything was exceptional. My previous visit was a bit disappointing with the orders being messed up. But that wouldn't deter me from visiting again. Coming from Bangalore, a city in India that delivers the best dosas in the world, this is the best and closest to home that I can find in the bay area. You don't have to wait too much as long as you have made a reservation in advance and the whole group shows up on time. Service is extremely friendly, quick. Definitely a must visit for those who crave Dosas and the ones who want to try it."

"Love Dosa! I take all San Francisco new comers by this place, and they all love it. Food is spectacular, service is usually perfect. Unsure if the upstairs service is slower/less attentive than downstairs, but every dish we had was perfectly prepared, which made up for ~10% tip service. The vegetable Tamil curry rocked my socks - rich, smooth, and satisfying. Easy to over order with such a beautiful menu: 3 starters, 1 uttapam, and a curry fed us (2 big eaters and our mother). Make sure to have a specialty cocktail!"

The entrees are quite good and my only critical feedback would be that the proportion of rice to the entree is overwhelming. "We were at DOSA on a Monday evening, bringing with us two friends for their first visit to DOSA. After having read some of the most recent reviews on Open Table, we grew concerned, wondering if something had changed at Dosa that was going to spoil our - and our friends' experience. Nope - eveything was just as wonderful as we had experienced in our last two visits - great food, great service and yet another lovely evening at DOSA. And for a Monday, it was bustling - not your typical Friday night crowd, mind you, but bustling. We drive from the San Ramon Valley to eat at DOSA and will continue to do so!"

"The food was amazing but being new to the place we were not entirely sure what everything was. The waitress noticed this and she gave the best tips/advise/suggestions you could ask for. That woman was an amazing waitress. Food was great, spicy but oh-so-nice! Will definitely go again!"
