"We opted for the chef's tasting menus, with he recommended wine pairings...it was brilliant. The sommelier was so interesting and entertaining, regaling us with the background and nuances of each of the wine pairings. It was such a perfect compliment to such perfectly prepared and presented foods."

My father sent us. He recently passed away. He was a connoisseur, ate at most 3 star rated Michelin restaurants worldwide. He was very exuberent if it were good, and critical if it were not up to standard. I think he would say; Caviar dish-bad, desserts very ordinary, the rest-excellent! Wine Very Good.
. caviar potato rosti a huge disappointment, especially with extra charge. First impression- disappointing. Oil was bad, potato burnt, smell/taste terrible. Scooped caviar off but it had bitter flavour from potato.
(Husband tried it and I left the other half on the plate. We mentioned it when they took the plate, but nothing was said)"

"I've been binging on Michelin star restaurants all week and out of all of them, La Toque was the most pleasant surprise. The quality of the ingredients and the price points are terrific considering it's a 1* restaurant! Portions were ample without being excessive, the options are extensive, the service was impeccable and the environment is upscale without being pretentious. With all of the options available in Napa, you can't go wrong with La Toque."

"Wow, what can I say? This was yet again, a wonderful experience to behold. The food is innovative, paired with the most wonderful wines. The staff was exceptional. The sommelier was funny, knowledgable and full of information that we drank up. Other than the kid running around in the outside area, this place is very exceptional. We will be back in July, and we will ask for a table where no children are around. It is not a child appropriate restaurant, so get a babysitter. Certainly not the restaurantt's fault. being in the Westin is another plus. Good job."

"I enjoyed getting a peek at all the action in the kitchen through the window at my table. La Toque is one of the restaurants that includes an 18% gratuity in your bill. I absolutely loved my salmon tournedos, but was disappointed with the soft shell crab. My beef and salad were alright, but forgettable. My "chocolate wall" dessert was rich and decadent. My food at La Toque was okay, but I wouldn't venture there again. There are too many other great restaurants in the Napa Valley. The salmon was the only dish that really made me ooh and ahh."

"At La Toque, you can do a chef tasting menu (9 courses), 3 courses pls dessert, 4 courses plus dessert. We chose the 3 course pls dessert ( plenty for us ). When choosing courses, you can choose anything on the well varied menu.
In this age of nouveau and creative cuisine, La Toque is a very good restaurant, but not in the nouveau/creative category. Don't misunderstand me -- everything was very good, but in this day and age, what this restaurant serves up seems a little old fashioned -- very good, but old fashioned. Absolutely worth a try, no question -- but if this restaurant wants to win awards and kudos, it will need to change with the times."

"I have always enjoyed this fine restaurant. Expensive, but excellent food (tasting menus with wine pairings) and attentive service. Not this time. Our party of 4 arrived for a 6:45 p.m. reservation. It was still daylight (May 31, 2013), so the atmosphere was brighter than on previous evening visits. A later, darker setting provides better ambience. We were shown to the huge "Godfather booth", too huge for conversation, so we asked for a table. Once moved to a table, service was slow. No cocktails offered. We had a 9-course tasting menu, but it took FOUR HOURS for them to serve all the courses. We were almost the last ones there, and we were exhausted. Noisy, too. Maybe just an off night. They were busy early. Great sommelier!"

"We've been to La Toque many times and the restaurant gets better and better. Attention to our table was spot-on and perfectly balanced. And then there's the food. Ken Frank and his kitchen make culinary magic. The food is consistently memorable. The menu is always fresh, with a nice balance between a few favorites that thankfully stay on, and new creations to discover. Finally, the restaurant has a great wine list, but be sure to try the wine pairings. A lovely evening!"

"This heavenly place is Quince and Commis on steroids-absolutely the finest experience I've had this side of France-stunningly beautiful dining room-unequaled passionate wine service and the best service imaginable. "We have lived in Napa for 12 years, and our favorite restaurant has consistently been Ken Frank's La Toque. Mind you, at $350/person after tax and tip, it is not an everyday experience. We just celebrated our 30th Anniversary there and everything was fantastic - from the single spear of white asparagus to the always perfect wine parings. Everything works - always! Thank you Chef Frank for having this jewel in our backyard."

"La Toque was my favorite meal during my recent trip to Napa Valley (we also went to Redd). We did the three course menu paired with wine. It was delicious! Our waiter was helpful with suggestions, we were not at all rushed, the sommelier explained a bit about each wine and why it paired nicely with the food selection and she answered all of our silly questions without condescension. I like fine food, but not the pretentiousness that sometimes accompanies it - there was none of that at La Toque. It was a great evening!"

"We went here for Mother's Day brunch, and the staff was so kind and the food so good. I would say that not all of the staff is well versed in how to serve food with young kids at the table (who puts the hot latte in front of the wiggly baby?!) But the food was WONDERFUL and the staff was incredibly kind to me and my husband. It's fantastic."

"This town is littered with great food and restaurants. This place fits right in. We had lobster, veal, duck, slamon, asparagus and caviar. We ate from the choose three plus wine flights ( you choose from the menu sections either three or four dishes and can opt for wine flights. Choosing caviar adds $36 to your bill for the Cliqueot you get with it). Everything was excellent. Dessert and gratuity included $175 pp. We dined two tables down from the most famous chef in Washington DC who also seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his experience."

"Extremely impressive menu as to variety and quality. The four or five course dinners are fun to construct. Everythng is beautifully presented and delicious, but the servings are extremely small, and you will have to fill up on bread to prevent leaving hungry. The desserts are particularly well done. The wine list is very extensive and the price breath taking. The coffee is the only thing edible that needs work."

Also heavenly for dessert lovers: gorgeously prepared, innovative choices executed to perfection- if one so desires pairing with Muscat can add to the experience.

"My wife and I celebrated her birthday at La Toque. It was exceptional. The menu is one of the most interesting in the Valley and the 3 or 4 course menu offers great flexibiity. In fact, the vegetarian "dinner" was the best we have ever seen. The Antelope, Sable amd quail were excellant. I don't understand some other "reviews" that cmplained about the service or portion sizes. The service was wonderful and the portions were more than ample.

"After getting seated, we waited 25 minutes before the waiter came to our table to talk to us about the menu. when my wife mentioned that she has some food allergies (i.e. gluten and dairy), he was not initially very helpful...almost seemingly annoyed that she couldn't figure it out herself. Once the food starting coming out - 3 different courses plus dessert...the food tasted great. The only problem and it was a big problem...the portions are so small it was ridiculous. Each course was only 4 or 5 bites of food. Are you kidding me? And then when dessert came out...there was more food on the oversized dessert than there was on the previous 3 courses combined. It was just completely odd. Left disappointed and hungry 2 hours later"

"My wife and I love La Toque! We have been there 5 times and each time has been a great experience. We are vegetarians, but Chef Frank conjures up such creative dishes that we always end up eating something new each time. The wine selections are excellent, of course being in Napa. The service is very attentive and friendly and they will make us french fries (my wife's addiction!), bring us soda water to clean up any spills (seem to do it often!), etc. I have taken many friends and family members there and they are uniformly impressed. I would highly recommend it over any of the other high profile places in the Napa valley including French Laundry and Bottega."

"We loved the ambiance of the fireplace. The service was impeccable from start to finish and not snobby or stuffy either. The sommelier was very helpful and wasn't pushing the most expensive bottles on the list. The food was outstanding. I had quail and antelope and both were wonderful, although the quail is like eating a tiny chicken and you have to watch out for the bones. It was delicious though. Great dining experience."

I don't mean it had a little more salt than what I would have liked I mean it tasted like a bite of pure salt. I had the Antelope medallions, the forbidden rice was the salty part of the dish.
