A favorite neighborhood restaurant for those in the know. Not only is the food good but the people-watching is terrific. Our warm friendly staff welcomes locals like Henry Kissinger, Ralph Lauren and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg plus assorted Upper East Side beauties. Specializing in the fabulous flavors of the Amalfi coast, selections include delicious risottos, osso bucco, specialty pasta, as well as more exotic fare like roasted lamb garnished with balsamic vinegar and rosemary. Delectable home made desserts along with an extensive wine list. Soft hand-painted ochre colored walls, sensually sweet background music and attentive service provide a memorable dining experience at this distinctively chic restaurant.
"Il Riccio is a great find for those of us who go to the Met Museum often. Everything about it was delightful and the food was delicious. This is a great reason for using Open Table--I had no idea this restaurant even existed although I had been to the restaurant right next door. Il Riccio will be our go-to restaurant when in the area."

"One of those places that looks like it has been around for a while--worn but not shabby. Likely to have many regular guests from the neighborhood. Casual but professional staff. Food uses good, fresh ingredients. Very good espresso."

"At first we thought we had found a perfect place for lunch after a museum visit. The restaurant is pretty, intimate, and friendly. The food, however, was uneven. Dishes looked as if they were well conceived and they tasted OK, but they were mostly not quite what one was hoping for. A sardine appetizer was bland, a shrimp dish, though tasty, was served on just a huge pile of greens. An important sauce for both dishes we had was brought to the table when we were halfway through the dish, and seemed irrelevant. The very cleverly conceived grilled assorted seafood was quite flavorful but the shrimp and scallops and salmon were sadly overcooked. So this almost top-notch Italian, because of carelessness, was just a pleasant neighborhood place."

"Food is extremely good, service is relaxed and friendly though attentive. I would recommend without reservation, except for two issues. First, the a/c in the back room blows directly on diners seated at tables along the back wall. Second, the noise level in the front room can make it hard to hear your companions. Otherwise, a great choice."

"Fresh Italian food with fantastic wine in a cozy setting. We both had soft shell crabs and they were delicious. They even give you two choices as to how to prepare them which I never expected.
After finishing with dinner, we were given biscotti and dessert wine which was a nice gesture and also very unexpected. The service was very good!"

"Went for lunch and their was a wide selection of entrees as well as several specials. The pastas were well prepared in a light sauce - one with mushrooms and another with asparagus and the portion size was perfect for lunch. Will return."

"All in all good experiences. A little pricy for what it is. Also: prices on their website are significantly cheaper than actual prices in the restaurant, e.g. pasta dishes are probably $4-5 more it states on the menu on their website."

"Consistently excellent--cuisine, menu variety, and most of all, the staff--all are gracious, knowledgeable, and prompt. Il Riccio is my "go to" restaurant for pleasant low key dining."

"This has been our go-to neighborhood restaurant for about 10 years. It never disappoints. The food is consistently very good, the staff and owners are always friendly, and there is nothing else in the neighbor that can compare. We just had a mussels and clams special appetizer that was amazing!"
