"The place is very nice and the staff friendly.
I had a three course meal: a salad, a pasta dish and shared a desert.
The salad was good and the ricota cheese cake delicious. But the ricota ravioli with tomato sauce was incredibly hot! I barely could taste the nice ricota ravioli (think it was spinach and smoked ricota). The tomato sauce, unfortunately, ruined the main course!"

"Great location in the MPD, around the corner from another favorite Scarpetta. I'd have to give the edge to Valbella, and would eat there again. STARTERS - White asparagus with mozza..seasonal but it never lives up to the hype; Swiss chard salad with Gorgonzola & candied walnuts; Caprese - fantastic and fresh....MAINS - Piedmont steak - red , DO Not get more than med. rare...Cooked perfectly but not flavorful; Whole Bronzino, fork tender; Scalapini martini- tender veal scallopini pan fried and breaded, whit wine sauce, with julienne green beans and whole fingerling potatoes..2nd best on the table. A touch of capers would have made this a total show stopper; Filetto di venison - the best specimen I've ever had. Best thing on the table!"

"Amazing experience! Food was phenomenal, wait staff could not have been more attentive or knowledgeable and atmosphere was excellent. We had a variety of entrees at the table including Seafood, Beef and pasta. All were excellent. Also, do not miss out on the soufflé. Well worth the time and expense."

"I met a friend for dinner at Valbella. I thought it was passable Italian fare but was generally overpriced and somewhat underserviced. It has a very diverse, weirdly priced wine list. There were some decent Italian wines for fair (for a restaurant) prices, but mostly kind of pricey. I doubt I'll return."

"The food was excellent, the restaurant was beautifully designed and the service was impeccable. Every restaurant makes you wait until everyone in the party is present. However the restaurant manager graciously allowed the 6 of us to sit waiting paitently for the others to arrive. The staff was at our service at all times. Not once did we have to call or wait for a waiter, they were already at our table serving/refilling our drinks and needs."

"Wonderful restaurant for that special occasion. The food is absolutely delicious and the setting was pretty cool. A couple of years ago I threw a birthday bash in one of the rooms upstairs and had a wonderful memorable experience. We only encountered one glitch this time. Our waiter in particular pushed for me to order a pricey bottle of wine. He asked me if I wanted to start at $150.00 or more per bottle. Not being comfortable with that, I immediately said bring it down a notch and shot him a look. Then I said, I am sure you could suggest a cabernet in the $75.00 range. Also since we were only 4 people at the table, they could have gotten the entrees to the correct person. Just be aware and your evening could be a really great experience."

"This was one of the worst restuarants we have ever been to in terms of service and price. A pompous rushed waiter when it wasn't even busy. Overpriced with an attitude that was rude. Our bill was over 1200. You would think they would have manners. Owner never came to the table never checked just stood at the door."

"Way too crowded. Had a reservation and had to wait 40 minutes for my table. My date and I were shown to a crummy little table near the door to the upstairs server station. I wouldn't take that table. they told us to wait at the bar until another table cleared. It was so noisy and difficult to get a drink in the upstairs bar. After following up with the host, he finally gave us a very nice table in the center of the downstairs dining room. However we only had an hour to finish our meals, as they were doing a "buyout" function in an hour."

"This place has great food service and a great wine list. From the moment u walk in the door the hostess was very pleasant. The bartender was great and the waitstaff was very attentive. Had a veal chop to die for. I will defenatly go back when in the NY area."

"First time I went with a couple that frequent the restaurant. Treated wonderful. This time we were five unknowns. Our four course dinner was rushed. They wanted us out of there. We had to ask our waiter to slow it down a bit.I ordered two cosmopolitans that came clear. I knew something was wrong.sent it back, still not great but didn't say a word. The waiter himself said it didn't look right. As a professional why bring it to my table. We like our pasta al dente but this was crunchy. At 45 dollars per serving the very least you expect is that the pasta is cooked properly. The signature Napoleon was missisng something. You're depending on your server! We were celebrating 2 very special birthdays that turned not so special. Very disapointed"

"The wine is over-priced.
The noise (on a Saturday night) was so bad it may stop me from going there again.
Why do they close Sundays?

"I'd been to Valbella three times before and always had a great experience. This most recent visit exceeded expectations. As usual it's a beautiful restaurant with a wide open layout and trendy white decor befitting it's meatpacking district location. The food was outstanding. The bone in Filet Mignon was an exceptional cut that was cooked to perfection. My guest loved her scallops with pasta. The service was terrific with our waiter Sonny making us both feel like welcome guests in his home(all the waitstaff wear white shirts and suspenders which adds to the charm). We went on Valentine's day which for obvious reasons always makes me apprehensive but Vabella didn't let me down."
