"If you appreciate seafood the way I do, then this is the spot to be. Often times, seafood can seem bland and delicate - not satisfying unless it's fried or cooked in butter. These dishes are flavorful and so incredibly satisfying, you crave for more. After our tasting menu we were full, but we didn't feel gross or comatosed as we would have after a meal at Peter Luger. The staff was attentive and helpful. I wasn't sure why they insisted on taking the complimentary salmon rillet away - but they eventually did. ;)"

"I had made my reservation for lunch a month in advance, so being seated promptly wasn't an issue. The servers were attentive from beginning to end, and timed each course perfectly. I started with the the Mesclun Salad which had just the right amount of dressing. For my main course I had the Halibut which was tender and perfect. For dessert I had the Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream with three Petit Fours. This was not my first time at Le Bernardin, and it won't be my last."

"This restaurant continues to improve. Let's face it...it's hard to make a main course with fish that is really exciting. I usually love the appetizers and raw things, but the main course often disappoints. But not here. Had the skate and it was worth having many times.

"This is one of my favorite restaurants. You really can't find their combination of outstanding seafood and creative, perfectly balanced, sauces anywhere else. However, the quality of service varies a bit: it ranges from friendly and helpful to pedantic and obnoxious. I guess it amounts to what particular server you get on the occasion. But the food is so great that this won't prevent from returning every time I am in New York."

"It is a well known for years restaurant and we found with my wife exactly what we were expecting.
Perfect ambient, service and superb food. My choise was the 7 dishes tasting menu with wine paring. I did not like one of the wines and they proposed another one, with no questions asked.
The first plate an almost raw hamachi was perfect and I will go back next time I will in in New York just to have this in a normal plate."

"We had the Le Bernardin tasting menu with the matching wine and were really pleased with the 6 pairings. The wine complemented and enhanced the food and we appreciated the Sommelier’s descriptions and explanations. We do not often eat in restaurants of this level of sophistication but we felt comfortable and enjoyed the setting. The service was efficient but the explanations of the preparations were at times a little too fast for us. However, the staff were supper attentive - just after my wife mentioned to me in a normal conversational tone that the spoons were too large for the pre-desert offering, a waiter brought over two small spoons. We hope to be back on our next NYC trip."

"This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Everything was perfect. My only criticism was the choice of one of the wines, a Ribera del Duero, which was paired with the lobster. The wine was way too rough for the elegant dish. I would suggest a Yacochuya 2001 or 2003 or maybe even a Guayquil (Huarpe wineries) to go with this particular dish.
Otherwise it was a truly amazing dining experience. My compliments to the staff and master cheff Eric Ripert."

The only negative was that our "foursome" arrived at 12:30 for a 1pm res to have a pre-lunch drink.
We were escorted to the bar area, sat down and then waited for at least 10 minutes...no one waited on us.
With the exception of one table of two people,
we were the only people in the bar.
When we finally asked if we could order a drink, we were accommodated.
Perhaps they assumed that we were just waiting for our table,
but we did advise the person who met us at the door and brought us to the bar,
that we were going to have a drink before lunch.
Just a minor slip Eric, but....
you could loose a star over service slip-ups."

"With parents visiting from Norway we decided for once to splurge and go to the best seafood restaurant we could think of. Since it was a birthday and because I am generally underwhelmed with the quality of seafood in New York restaurants, we were prepared that it would cost to get the highest quality. All four of us were particularly impressed with the appetizers that were part of the price fixe menu. The tastes were refined and lively. If anything at all could improve the meal in our opinion, it would be to add a bit of vegetable to the main course. Eating stupendously good fish with just sauce and garnishing is not quite as satisfying as having it with a bit of textural contrast and variety from a bit of vegetable or starch."

"Ate here on April 5 for lunch. Absolutely transcendent dining experience. Every aspect of the restaurant is exceptional. The space, the service, and cuisine - all unmatched in my experience. The Dover Sole was absolutely delectable... sort of a trout menuiere but taken upmarket. Dessert and bread did not disappoint either. Chef Eric Ripert was a constant presence in the restaurant, so it is nice to know the man is on the premises.
To close, do your self a favor and eat here."

"The food is excellent! Really well executed! The flavours are incredible! We did a Chef's Tasting and Le Bernardin Tasting Menus with wine pairings. It is a lot of wine and you will not leave hungry. The pairings were interesting and thoughtfully selected and bang on."

"This was the best restaurant I have ever been to. The menu is limited to seafood (for the most part) so if you don't like fish there is not much there for you. Incredible food, service, and ambiance. The wine list is extraordinary and the sommeliers are very helpful and friendly. My teenage sons also agree that it's the best experience they have had, and they have eaten in some very good restaurants throughout France."
