"This brunch is suppose to have Prime Rib. Apparently they ran out early and never bothered to put more on the buffet line. Way to go on Mother's Day! They had a full house reserved and they should have known better."

"After reading several reviews we choose Schlesinger's to celebrate my son's college graduation and I couldn't have been more pleased, they even accommodated a last minute change in our reservation time for a party of 11. Amy, our server did a wonderful job handling our large boisterous party. We particularly enjoyed the she crab soup and one of our party practically licked the bowl of his carrot ginger soup. The fresh mozzarella on the caprese salad was superb and several of us enjoyed the perfectly medium rare lamb chops. All in all a wonderful dining experience and highly recommended."

"Schlesinger's Chop House is a great dining experience for everyone but I enjoy dining there just with my wife. It is quiet, elegant, romantic, offers quality service that is there when you need it and not bothering you if you don't. You would have to go to Paris to get better food and even if you go to Maxim's you would have to be on a first name basis with their Master Chef and speak excellent French and spend some big bucks. Schlesinger's is not cheap but by paying just a little more you get a fine dining experience."

"The best brunch in Newport News. Everything is homemade and delicious. High quality ingredients like smoked salmon and shrimp salad. Amazing desserts.... they even have a pastry chef on staff which is unusual for Newport News. Nicely cooked prime rib. Even the eggs benedicts were cooked perfectly which is hard to achieve in a buffet."

"The ambiance of Schlesinger's was very inviting. Our server was on point to insure that everything was to our liking from menu selection to wine selection to dessert selection. We were celebrating an anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary bottle of champagne to commemorate the occasion. We chose the restaurant because I wanted oysters. Schlesinger's seemed to be the only restaurant in the area that served oysters on their menu, I was very happy and pleased with my menu selection, it was prepared exquisitely. I was a satisfied diner. Our server Katarina was very attentive. You could almost taste the food from the way that she described it. Her care she took to make our evening special was impressive."

"After living in Hampton and having been to so many different chain restaurants week after week, finding Schlesinger's brought back my faith in restaurants. I went to Schlesinger's as a treat for my birthday lunch with some of my co workers. We were VERY impressed with the restaurant as a whole. Everything from decor, service that was impeccable, and food that was amazing. I cant wait to come back and try one of their steaks if they can make a Burger taste as good as they did. I would highly recommend the Schlesinger's burger, and the French Onion Soup. Its worth every penny."

"When we visit my son in Newport News, we always treat him at Schlesinger's. The meal and service are always special. On Saturday, the staff was especially accomodating, permitting us to interrupt our meal as we watched the end of the NCAA game. My prime rib may have been the best I have ever had. My son never fails to have the filet and lobster, especially while Dad is there. A little pricey, but well worth it. Our family strongly recommends this restaurant."

"My fiancé and I made a reservation for 8pm but we showed up early and were seated immediately. We had the table through the back by the fire place. The setting was very cozy, romantic, peaceful even. We did however have a group at the long table who were loud an boisterous but it was ok because their language nor their conversation was rude or disrespectful. They even apologized when they left.
Out waitress, Erin, was a total delight. She checked on us regularly and made some of the best recommendations. We even met the DM I believe. The food was amazing. My fiancé inhaled the entire 24oz porterhouse. I had the red pepper bisque, simply AMAZING!! We will definitely become regulars. I'm glad we stumbled upon this place."

"We went to the Easter Brunch. There was a nice variety from which to select - prime rib, rack of lamb, ham, quite a number of appetizers, side dishes and wonderful fresh desserts. We all had a bloody mary and decided it was one of the best in town. This restaurant consistently delivers a quality product. It was very busy. "I went to Schlesinger's on this particular night to celebrate my first Family Anniversary with my son, Noah who I adopted one year ago. We sat in the bar area because of the specials for Ladies' Night, and had a wonderful time. The service was a little slow because of the volume of parties there, but the atmosphere was great, so my son did very well, being occupied with the picture and the plants and people in the room.
The staff welcomed us and gave him complementary of him. I truly enjoyed myself and will never forget spending my first anniversary with my son there!"

"Wonderful meal and atmosphere. I ordered the sauted chilean sea bass in a white wine lemon sauce. It was cooked to perfection. One of the best meals I have had at this great restaurant. The other person in the party had a filet which was tender, juicy, and also cooked to perfection. The veggie of the day was mixed veggies - squash, onions, etc. Delicious and the perfect accompaniment for our entrees. We did not order desserts. What made this meal particularly enjoyable was the "Oscar" special - BOGO. Great bargain. Our server, Katarina, was just superb! She is very knowledgeable and gracious."

"We were pushed for time due to a show at The Ferguson Center. Mentioned this to our waiter who could not have been more accommodating in making sure we were not late for our engagement. Waiter provided one of the most pleasant dining experiences I have ever experienced. Food was outstanding and ambiance excellent!"

"Not only was this our Valentine dinner- but also my boyfriend is stationed at Ft. Eustis and I had not seen him since January 3! Schlesingers was absolutely perfect! Great martinis at the bar- then calamari for appetizer. Not rubber- overcooked, simply delicious. Jennifer gave us great service- friendly and engaging, but not intrusive. Our steaks were awesome- but BIG!!! LOL! Two doggie bags! We ordered the hot lava cake for dessert and demolished it- sooo good- NO doggie bags for that! High recommendation!"

"We have eaten at Schlesinger's many times before and have always had a great experience. This visit however was below par. Their signature potato dish was dry, the beef was good, however in the past whenever we had a filet it was served with a hot butter wash. The steak did not have the butter this time. The cheesecake, which they say is made in house, tasted like wax!
We went on a Monday evening, perhaps this is why the meal was not as good as in the past, but considering the cost of a meal at Schlesingers, they should be on their game every night!"

"We planned a late evening meal for our anniversary planning on the prime rib special. As it turned out, we had to make alternate selections. The chicken breast and the seafood trio were both excellent. Portion sizes were substantial. We enjoyed a nice quiet evening. Service was perfect. We will be back."
