Millennium, San Francisco's premier vegan restaurant, is proud to be regarded as one of the few places to get truly creative food. *LOCATED IN THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA*
"I had a friend from out of town visit and offer to meet for dinner. I had heard of Millennium for awhile but never had a chance to go, or a friend who wanted to try an upscale all veggie place, so this was my opportunity. While I'm a vegetarian, my guests weren't, but I knew they were be impressed with the food, and the freshness and they certainly were. The service was excellent (we got a complimentary appetizer!) attentive, and not overly fussy. The food was fresh, in-season and very well made. I will certainly be back for another special occasion."

"I went to Millinium while in San Francisco on a business trip. What a fantastic find! The food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, and I think the mushroom flatbread might be one of the best things I've ever eaten in my entire life!"

"Looked into a vegetarian restaurant while in SF for business. Millenium looked like a well reviewed option to bring a client and co-worker for a dinner; both are vegetarian. Nice atmosphere, very pleasant, professional staff. However, the food was not good at all. None of us finished our meals and both of my dinner companions were looking forward to good food that was so well depicted by the server. Live and learn. None of us will return."

"Went for Mother's day for my mom who is a vegetarian. She enjoyed it. The others who are omnivores described the food as "interesting". Overall I didn't like my experience as much as the last time I dined there. The food and drinks were much better last time, but they were still good this time."

"We went for Mother's Day dinner. Small plates are reasonably priced and all quite tasty. We had mushroom salad with papadams, fried green tomatoes and wilted spinach salad. Bread and lentil spread comes with every meal. Had 2 specialty drinks and wine. Pricey but tasty. For main meals we had Teff burrito, tamale and artichoke/fava bean gratin. Fava bean gratin was by far the best. All quite pricey, but preparation is beautiful and all were flavorful. Seems like a lot of money for what you get though. Had great service and it is a pretty dining area and bar. Would definitely go back, but just for drinks and small plates."

"Millennium seems to be biased towards mothers, as there is no equivalent father's day brunch. Still, I had a great time with my mom. We arrived early and were the 2nd guests seated in a nice booth that could fit a party double our size. By the time dessert was served, we were already satiated. We took most of the dessert back home."

"My daughter and me celebrated Mother's Day early at Millenium while visiting from out of town. We are vegetarians and found the food both creative and delicious. The staff is warm, friendly and serviceful. I will definitely be back."

"i'm an omnivore and my wife is vegan. every time we come here, it is a treat. we have always done some sort of tasting menu and have never been disappointed. this time we got an extra bonus as each of us got different dishes for each course which we shared. also, the unique hotel california adds favourably to the overall ambiance. great anniversary dinner experience!"

"I think the food is fantastic. I've been to Millenium before and was amazed with the outstanding quality of the food. Our server was surly and cool (not cool!) so my friend, who had never eaten at Millenium before, was not able to focus on her fantastic food. Unfortunate and unusual."

"You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy the menu at Millennium. I found this restaurant when I was searching the web for a suitable (and not all of us were vegetarians) restaurant while visiting San Francisco last year. It was so delicious that I returned! The menu is creative and tasty. The entrees are reasonably priced and the service was impeccable. In a city with thousands of choices for meals I give two BIG thumbs up for Millennium!!!"

"This was a great place because it had a lot of dinner choices on the menu which is unusal for a vegetarian resturant. The food was very good. I wish there was a place like this in Seattle!"

"This was my 2nd time to Millennium. I had been looking forward to it since my last trip, and have recommended and raved about it to numerous people. Not only did it not live up to my expectations, but was quite the opposite. The food was okay. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not worthy of the $. The wine pairing was nothing remarkable (as it had been the first time), and was never served at the same time as the meal. Our waitress was by far the worst part of the experience. Wine "pairings" were served 10-20 minutes BEFORE each course, and we were never checked on during that time. No explanations about pairings were given. Instead our waitress spent 2/3 of our meal at the bar drinking beer!"

"Once again we had very slow service at Millennium. Almost an hour between being seated and getting the first food we ordered. With reservations difficult to get here, one would think they would try for a faster turnover! Not a place for dinner if you have theater or concert to get to. The food was just good, not great, as it is sometimes."

"Went here for my anniversary dinner with my carnivorous husband. We both loved it. From delicious, interesting, and unique food to great service and a warm ambiance -- it was top notch. I got the seasonal 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing. As a vegan, What a treat to be able to eat everything on the menu. Fairly expensive but mostly just because I did chefs choice. You could probably get a meal for 2 including wine for 100 if you ordered straight from the menu. I will definitely be back."

"Where are the vegetables? I find this and other top vegan restaurants trying too hard to please the omnivore. I was craving the best of vegetables however I found the four things we ordered to be quite heavy with sauce, etc. but few standout veggies. If I were to return I would order side dishes and salads."

"We had an 8:45 pm reservation but arrived at 8:20. We were kept waiting till 8:45 even though guests without a reservation came in and were seated immediately. They sat 3 groups without reservations before they sat us. That wasn't nice. The food was delicious though. I especially loved the king trumpet mushrooms served as appetizers, delish! All in all, I would return for the food., not the service"

"It was hard to choose among the delicious-sounding options. Our server, Steph R, was knowledgable and efficient. Our entrees were slightly delayed so she brought us a nice side dish to enjoy while we waited."

"Our table was wobbly and situated such that people kept walking by on every side - a difficult situation. The waitress seemed attentive but the food was so slow in coming from the kitchen that we had to leave before our dessert came, even though we had said we needed to leave soon."

"I was in San Francisco for a conference and took a large group of non-vegetarians. Clean plate club all around! I went back a few nights later with my wife and a couple friends and had another terrific meal! Between the two trips we tried most things on the menu. We didn't have anything that wasn't great. The desserts are particularly good. If I lived in San Francisco, I would come here all of the time!"

"Expected Millennium to be an upscale and a very good vegetarian restaurant. We were disappointed. The presentation was good. The service was good. The desserts were good. The food was mediocre, The crepes were thick and tough. Leather-like. The mushrooms were bland. Instead of simply presenting delicious vegetables in their natural forms, there was a mediocre attempt to imitate meat dishes. Some of the food reminded me of food served in a cheap Indian restaurant buffet.
Will not eat here again."

"I was not impressed at all. Several people recommended Millenium to us and after eating there we were slightly disappointed. It was just so so. Nothing out of the ordinary. The food was good, but that's it. The waitress was subdued and inattentive."

"Millennium's concept is an admirable one and which it largely executes effectively: "Millennium's mission is to be a resource for those wishing to explore a healthy diet, avant garde cooking," We were a party of four recently and largely enjoyed our meal. The Shaved Parsnip & Carrot "Noodles"salad was disappointing (Flavors and texture just did not connect) but the Wilted Bloomsdale Spinach & Gravenstein Apple Salad worked well. We had three entrees, which ranged from 'OK' to excellent. The Brik Pastry Purse is a thing of beauty but again the combination of flavors and textures was 'off'. The Maple-Thyme Glazed Smoked Tempeh was as good as other reviewers have suggested. The best of the lot was the Malay Style Red Lentil & Coconut Curry."
