"Cafe Monte was a disappointment to say the least. First of all, they messed up our reservation so we were missing a chair, which caused us to have to move to the outdoor dining. The table barely fit us. Then, the waiter proceeded to ignore us for a solid 15 min; we literally had to flag him down. Throughout the entire meal, he ignored us. The food was very overdressed. I had the Eggs Benedict and they ended up smothering my entire plate with their hollandaise sauce which was poorly done. I would never go there again."

"FANTASTIC AS USUAL!!! Even for a very busy Mother's Day, Montes hit it outta the park. We watched people come and go and service didn't miss a beat. Management is best in Charlotte. We sat in the cafe and witnessed the manager accommodate several large parties without reservations. Everyone was happy, especially us. Food was outstanding. We had a party of 12 and everything was superb. BEST PLACE IN NC."

"This was my first visit to Cafe Monte, treating my mother for Mother's Day. I had the Quiche Lorraine & she had the chicken and mushroom crepes, both of which were excellent. Very pleased with the taste and the value of the dishes. The service was attentive and friendly without being annoying. Only minor drawback was the atmosphere -- nice, (and I know it's a "cafe"), but I guess I expected it to be a little less casual and noisy. All in all, an enjoyable experience, though. Will try again during evening hours...maybe less noisy then."

"We frequently enjoy Café Monte. The environment is romantic in a French way with excellent service and a varied menu with conventional as well as French cooking influenced selections. We always enjoy the French Onion Soup - this would be expected, I suppose! I have had the cheese fondue appetizer and it is a nice small way to enter the meal. My wife usually has the quiche garnished with a delicate salad. I had the short ribs which were tasty and tender with a nice soft that isn't the ordinary brown sauce often found with short ribs. The wine selections are fine. This is a great place for lunch, brunch, dinner - as well as late evening. Plenty of parking at the door."

"I like the comfortable and easy atmosphere of the place. The waiter didn't come across as being genuinely friendly or helpful. The decaf coffee was terrible so when I asked to replace it with a hot tea he gave no reply. He simply brought the tea a d didn't even remove the old cup of coffee. The salmon and lobster omelet was average. Little to no salt or lobster in the omelet or potato cake that comes with it. The small fruit bowl was fresh and the croissant was light and tasty. My sister liked the steak and eggs but beware, the steak is about 4 oz, very small. For dessert we ordered lemon tart and carrot cake. "Saturday night was hopping with people and a 3-man band playing golden oldies from the early 70s. So the noise level at the front of the restaurant was quite high and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our table. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The cafe is well appointed with decorative tables and chairs that remind one of an outdoor cafe. We were shown to a table near the back of the restaurant which took us away from the music and afforded us nice conversation. Service was good. There was a little confusion towards the end of the meal about availability of desserts, but it got straightened out. And the food (why you go) was excellent. Really excellent. I would definitely go back."

"Step into Cafe Monte and you feel like you are in a cafe in Europe. The service and food will never disappoint. We absolutely love the shrimp pizza.
Atmosphere can be whatever you make. We've taken our kids (7 and 6) for lunch and dinner and they absolutely love their entrees, whether it is from the kids menu or off our plates. This has also been a great place to go on date night. Good food, good service, yummy desserts."

"We had a party of 5, and 3 ordered breakfast and 2 lunch. Really enjoyed the food. Service was a bit slower than usual, but they were slammed. Portions are more than ample. My only complaint is, I used a living social coupon, and evidently they changed their policy and don't apply these toward ANY beverages. While most don't include alcoholic beverages, they don't include any. As a result, I didn't get full use of the coupon."

"Always enjoy Cafe Monte and this was no exception. Must admit the lobster and crab crepes did not set well but the beef and aspargas were delicious. Have also had the chicken crepes before and they were great, must have been the crab. Featured wine was a hit, a light Rioja. Noise level is good and allows for easy conversation. Also, nice to be able to reserve thru Open Table."

"The food is always good here. The service was also efficient and knowledgeable. The complaint I had the last time We ate dinner here was that. We were seated at a table that was too cllose to the musicians. Although the music was entertaining, it was too loud. Trying to have a conversation with the other people at our table was very difficult to do when the musicians were playing."

"We have now eaten at Cafe Monte 4 or 5 times in the last 4 months and enjoy it immensely.
The atmosphere is great, food is terrific and the wine list is good too. I do find that our experiences with your wait staff is very different each visit. It would serve you well to make sure that they are all trained uniformly so that we know beforehand what will be provided without asking (or not). For example: Bringing water to the table, offering ground black pepper for salads, etc. Just a suggestion, we love your resaurant."

"L-O-U-S-Y. I hate to write such a thing after enjoying a number of good meals at Cafe Monte over the past few months, but today I had one of the worst dining experiences in my life. From not noting my dining companion's check in and telling me I was the first to arrive, to the lousy table in the back by the kitchen, to running out of clean glasses, to tables being bussed but not wiped off, noise beyond belief, 3 wait staff asking if we knew what we wanted to order (we did) but then walking off without TAKING the order, to being offered a table in full sun while a shaded one was available - after one lousy hour (and having gone back in to ask for help from the hostess, to no avail)- we left. People without reservations got served. Hah."
