"So, the medium-size salad was good, but for $24, why not excellent? And, the la Frieda meatballs were excellent, but the red sauce seemed "fresh from the can." The on-the-table shaker of Parmesan cheese was of the eternal shelf life variety. The room's grown up and clean and family friendly.

"MY late husband and I have been dining at Sambuca off & on for years. I still live in the neighborhood, and have always found the food good & the service friendly, welcoming and never pushy, but at the same time accommodating.Everyone that we have introduced to the the restaurant, has invariable enjoyed it, and usually returned."

"It was our first time at the restaurant and we really enjoyed it. We went for my son's birthday and everything was perfect. We were even runnning late because of traffic and I called the restaurant to tell them and they were very understanding and appreciative that I called. When we got there 10 minutes late, they still seated us immediately."

"Needed a table for 9 on the Upper Westside. Sambuca was a good choice. There is a lot of space inside and our group was comfortable and had plenty of room to laugh, talk, and enjoy a good meal. Food was tasty. Menu selection was solid. Service was also very nice. Good, fair prices as well --- our bill was less than $400 --- (only one of us ad alcohol!)"

"I walked into Sambuca and my first thought was this is going to be a stuffy place. It did not strike me as a place you would go with a group of friends even though they have family size portions. The atmosphere is more for a romantic dinner. I went with a few of my girlfriends and they did not look intereste too interested in dining there. I can only give Sambuca three stars for now as we only had the calamari, grilled mushrooms, and some cocktails. The calamari was great, we could have passed on the mushrooms, and the drinks were so weak that I would consider ordering a soda next time. I say next time because I really want to get the full experience and try the main dishes so that I can see if it's a place that I would frequent."

"Food was delicious. We shared a family portion of chicken Marsala and a small rigatoni bolognese. The pasta was al dente. We were rushing to Lincoln Center for an early curtain so we passed on dessert but the cappuccino and espressos were very good."

"Superb service; outstanding menu and food preparation, including many gluten free choices and vegetarian choices. Very nice wine selections/by the glass and bottle. "I looked forward to going to Sambuca because of their gluten free menu. As a person with celiac disease I am not always successful at finding restaurants that can accomodate. However, after being assured that they had gluten free rolls the waiter came to let me know they were out (on a busy Sat. at 7 one would think the restaurant should have been prepared so early in the evening). I ordered a caesar salad from the gluten free menu and was given a salad with croutons (that were not gluten free). Sent it back. Then ordered a veal dish medium rare and it came well done. Sent it back. Needless, to say I was VERY disappointed in my dinner at Sambuca."

"We were very impressed with the Gluten-free menu and the flavor. The staff was very attentive and accommodating, it was our Niece birthday and they had everyone in the restaurant chime in to sing Happy Birthday. "Have been here many times. The menu has not changed in over a year and is tired. The lack of of daily specials make it simply boring. The lack of any fish besides shellfish and salmon makes it unhealthy. The food taste is no bad, but it just is disappointing that a very pretty local place with decent food can't have a wider and varied menu."
