"Went there for lunch. Had a minor issue with hostess in regards to music level but immediately taken care of by server. Meal could not have been better. Ordered our usual of Szechwan Shrimp and Orange Beef. Orange Beef was not on the lunch menu but the did it for a small extra charge. Another terrific meal at Uncle Yu's, a restaurant that has amazing consistency."

"We (four of us) went here on a Friday evening. Our server was friendly and attentive. Kitchen was very, very slow. Took almost 45 minutes just to get our appetizer, over an hour before our dinner was served. The food, when it finally arrived, was good."

"My third time here and I just don't see why this place is so popular. It's always busy, and the wine list is pretty good, but the food is just average. Even the chef/sommelier tasting menu is just okay. Each time, the greeting at the front is just a blank stare with an implied "can I help you"? How about a hello, welcome, etc. I'm just not impressed and don't expect to return."

"Our server, Raphael, made our first time at Uncle Yu's memorable. Up beat, sincere & made perfect recommendations based on our conversation. We did not want a bottle of wine & I asked for a local sparking wine. Raphael promptly went in search of the sommelier, Nick, who filled my request. Any one who might be intimidated by speaking with a sommelier has nothing to fear here. We had the Kung Po Three Combo & the BBQ Sea Bass. I am a sea food lover & this Bass was absolutely amazing. The BBQ refers to the light delicious sauce drizzled on the plate. To round out the meal we had a bowl of vegetable chow mein. My other food passion is vegetables & they were outstanding. When was the last time anyone said a vegetable was outstanding."

"Essentially this spot is a classy version of the "PF Changs" with an exception to food quaility is far superior here. Great front-end staff, friendly, welcoming and respectful. Ambiance is desirable, dark wood, nice backlighting of the wine shelves and artwork. Decent bar drinks, well rounded wine list of your basics, and mainstream vintages. Typical mark-up's on and slightly higher margins on many of the cabs and Pino's. Friendly servers, sound working knowledge of the menu. I was impressed on the overall quaility of the seafood and produce. Clean, very fresh and prepared cuts. We came with a group of 8, great timing in regards to the food coming out fresh & hot. No one left-out waiting to eat with everyone. We will return!!"

"The restaurant was crowded, 6:15 on a Saturday night. Thank goodness for reservations. Decor was very upscale and what we can see the wait staff wore black and white. We were seated right away, received our water, were asked if we wanted to order wine which we did not. Then we saw NOBODY for what seems 15 mins. We did get a promo-on the house appetizer- we did not order. It was very good. Still nobody came to take our order. We saw the maitre de and grabbed him. He took our order- you can see he wasn't prepared because he wrote it on his hand! Surprising the order was correct and very delicious. He also comped the fried rice. We will return, maybe not on a Saturday night."

"This is always our spot for special occations. Livermore is up and comming on the dining scene. We found this place by accident about 5 years ago. On Valentine's Day they had a special menu 3-course with an option of wine parinings. Great customer service, they called ahead to remind us about the reservations."

"Given all the reviews I have written about this outstanding restaurant, it is difficult to find words to describe the incredible food, service, and value this restaurant provides without repeating myself. So I would like to mention consistency.
We have never had a bad meal or dish here despite the number of times we have dined at Unfle Yu's. I honestly can't say that about most of the other restaurants we have dined at, including some priced much higher than Uncle Yu's. I am also considering the service. Some of visits have been better than others. A dish may be superb on one visit and just excellent on another visit. Service can also vary in the same way. It is never mediocre or poor.

We ate in at the restaurant which for me was a bit dark (due to my eyesight and not the restaurant"s issue). Appetizer plate for two is a good sampler. Our main course was the General Tao. It is the perfect blend of heat and flavors.
This is definitely my new favorite place for take-out when time doesn't permit us to stay and eat."

"The food is very good. Service is bad. The waiter refil the water once to 2 customers only we are 9 people in our groups. Water do not have ice it's a lil warm. I have a coke and my drinks were NEVER refill. THe waiter is too slow getting our orders and he is slow bringing our foods and drinks. I will not recommend this place."

"My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there last week-end. We heard about this place via Open Table. Everything was perfect. We took the 5 Course Dinner with wine pairing ... it was awesome. Really happy to have found this place. We will return for sure."

"Sometimes the food comes out too quickly and you feel like you have eaten so fast. They do not pace it or ask you if you would like to pace it, so if you don't want everything all at once be sure and let them know."
