"Went before Jersey Boys and seated immediately. Very up beat staff. Excellent innovative sushi that even my sushi snob daughter thought was fabulous. Definitely pricey but made the evening special!"

"Loved this place so much the first time we went back two more times after and will go back again. The Naked Fish is a clean well run restaurant with knowledgable staff that gave excellent reccomendations. The food was excellently prepared and brought to us in a timely manner. Personal favorites of course included the sushi rolls, lamb chop and hen of the wood mushroom tempura with a juice tempura dip that makes your mouth water. There are many other great small course options that will suit every taste need. We felt prices we very reasonable for the quality of food and overall dining experience. Make reservations and take advantage of the valet parking."

"I came in from Philadelphia to see family on my birthday and so happy this is where they chose to take me. Loads of fun Nd delicious! Live music was nice and not too loud! We had a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us."

"I know my sushi, and never expected a restaurant in -Salt Lake City- to blow me away. They had prime cuts of yellowtail belly, when we visited. It was perhaps the best piece of nigiri I've had in years.
The only downsides to this place are: they don't have a great bar (but who does in SLC), and they could use some more luxury in the seating and tables. Least we had white table."

"My foodie sister recommended Naked Fish and told us to try poke & calamari among other things. Unfortunately they were out of poke ( friday 6:30 seating?) which was disappointing. Fried calamari was decent, not great, too much breading although texture of calamari meat was perfect. They also did not have bananas that evening to serve one of the desserts on the menu. Other dishes ( sushi rolls, broiled hamachi, tempura ) were very good and I am still hopeful to give Naked Fish another try. But next time I would like to try the tatami mat seating rather than the tables. We were at a table nearby a screaming baby and the high ceiling/open dining space made it difficult to carry on any conversation until that party left."

"Decent little restaurant. Very good sushi. Service staff could give a little more guidance to first time patrons, more than just suggestions on rolls it would be good to give full direction to create a meal and an experience which is what I'm looking for at the price level charged."

"If you're looking to broaden your horizons then Naked Fish is a must-experience. Sure they have a fresh selection of sushi that is always delicious but their small plates offer many new flavors and textures that you should really try -- the seafood custard, the chicken wings, the tempura offerings offerings -- it's a delight to try them all."

"We had not been to Naked Fish for awhile, and the food and service were superb this visit, a clear step above even the former "leading" Japanese restaurant in Salt Lake. The sushi taste, texture and presentation was subtle, flavorful and a work of art. The starter calamari was exceptional, cooked to perfection. Our server was extremely helpful with advice when asked, and made sure we were served in a reasonable time with several flights of sushi even though the pace was packed and included several large groups. Altogether a superb, seamless evening in a beautiful physical setting."

"The sushi chefs are fascinating to watch at the sushi bar as they carefully make your rolls and other specialty dishes. The dining room was full but we were able to talk easily within our group. The sashimi was like butter - so delicious and fresh. The presentation was excellent as was the attention to detail."

"This is one of my favorite places in Salt Lake City. It is withing walking distance to Abravanel Hall and we love to have dinner before the concert at Naked Fish. The food is fantastic and beautifully presented."

"Excellent food, outstanding service by Ian, great atmosphere. They also have private tatami rooms which would be great for special occasions or small parties. We will return over and over!"

"The sashimi and nigiri were excellent. The fish was very fresh. The prices for sashimi and nigiri were reasonable for the quality of fish. The liquor charges are high. We were seated at one of the worst tables in the restaurant for ambiance. Overall we enjoyed the restaurant very much."

"our overall experience was dampened by unprofessional service. Server had little experience or polish. No sophistication. Beautiful restaurant, seemingly staffed by returned missionaries without proper training."

"I have been to this restaurant before and have had fabulous experiences. However, this time the service was so slow. We arrived early and host apologized that we would have to wait (no big deal). When we were seated everyone was annoyingly attentive for five minutes and then disappeared. After waiting to place orders, our gin martinis were delivered as gin and soda on the rocks. We ended up drinking them because it was another 20 minutes before anyone came back to the table. While the food was great and our server was very friendly, I was bummed about the experience because I had been talking about how amazing this place was to my date for weeks before we went and we both left a little underwhelmed."

"quality and presentation were top notch. we found this place after trying to go to the other sushi place downtown that was very unorganized and had poor hours. We would recommend this place over the other one just on the decor and menu offerings alone. Being a wine lover, I was pleasantly surprised at the fine by the glass selections."

"Recently rated the best sushi in SLC, its easy to understand why. The menu, while simple, is varied enough but not too exotic. Highlights include: the jellyfish shooter, perfectly crunchy with a sweet/sour vinagrette: double tuna maki (both inside and outside the roll); the salmon maki, good in its simplicity. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. This may not be the best sushi in SLC (having never eaten anywhere else with which to compare it) but it is hard to imagine any better."

"A friend and I went to the Naked Fish Bistro to celebrate her birthday. It was the first time for both of us. The place was stylish and modern, the temperature was comfortable, and although there was an energetic buzz, it was not overly noisy. The food was delicious. We started with the goat cheese salad, which was composed of dressed greens, a variety of very good quality, fresh fruit, goat cheese and spiced nuts. We followed the salad with nigiri and several orders of maki. My friend is GF intolerant, and they provided GF suggestions for everything including desert.
I was surprised to see a number of kids. This is no way a negative, as all were well-behaved."

"The place had an authentic feel with nice decorations and Japanese style seating available. The sushi was fine but nothing outstanding from other local restaurants. Our waitress was not very helpful. One member of our party needed to eat gluten free and noticed that on the menu is said to ask about gluten free options. When we asked her about it she just said "read the menu and look for the items marked gluten free." Otherwise had no helpful advice. After we received our sushi we didn't see her again for a while. We were going to order more rolls, but decided not to after waiting for so long to see her again. Wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anyone."

"The food was delicious but we were seated in the basement, largely due to the fact it was Valentine's day. The basement is highly unattractive, there was no ambiance and it was almost like a pop-up restaurant. The service was friendly but slow and the food was delicious but also slow. Had I been warned about the seating, I would not have dined at this restaurant on a special occasion like Valentine's day.
I would return only because the food was high quality and tasted good. Otherwise I would not have."

"Very good fish and atmosphere. My wife and I got to sit in the backroom on the floor which was very cool. I wouldn't advise bringing kids. Its not for that group. Food was excellent and service was great. We love our Naked Fish."

"Made my reservations over a week in advance. Upon checking in we were asked if the tatami rooms were acceptable. We thought excellent as I had been seated in those rooms before and it provided an extra private dining experience which I didn't mind. We were seated at an extra long table, odd for a party of two. Instead this was a communal table. Further into the night we were told to move our things over and two additional parties were seated with us. In addition the waiter disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. 3 other servers cleared plates as we sat waiting for our own server. I have always been a fan, but after that evening I won't be back. $130 for communal dining with teenagers is not my IDE of a nice evening out. I won't be back"
