Our first Rosa Mexicano to open in New Jersey is located at The Shops at Riverside in Bergen County. The 160-seat restaurant features a spacious bar and lounge area, as well as outdoor and private dining options. Under the creative direction of architect and designer Timothy Higgins, the décor features vibrant colors such as vivid pink, deep maroon, rich butterscotch and warm yellow. Traditional craftwork and adornments include Oaxacan wood carvings of mythical animals, custom wax-dipped artwork, Mayan Indian textiles, and folk art masks. Tortillas are fresh-made on-site at a station featuring colorful tiles and a hammered copper hood. Through the unique designs and cuisine, all will encounter an authentic Mexican experience at Rosa Mexicano.
"I love their guacamole. I would probably go there just for the guacamole and a couple of margaritas (I had the classic). I really enjoyed the crab enchilada. The restaurant was noisier than I prefer but overall we had a very good dining experience. This last visit it seemed that they had changed their menu. The item I usually got was not listed and the menu seemed smaller. I don't see that as a downside, necessarily. I would definitely go back and would also recommend it to friends. It is the best Mexican food I have had in Bergen County."

"the food is always the standout attraction, although with children in tow and spilling two drinks in the process, the staff were always accommodating and swift in helping us. Excellent venue. Also, off in a corner the restaurant had a face painter making the children happy and a nice gift bag for mom which she certainly enjoyed."

"I always loved coming here. The food was always great and the ambience pleasant. I received an email describing the celebration they were to have for cinco de mayo. In the email it explained a festive atmosphere with live entertainment and festivities. I invited another couple to join us, since I've always been very pleased at this Resturant. Unfortunately the night was a disaster. There wasn't any live music in the Resturant, just blarring recorded music! Way to loud! It wasn't a celebration, just a very crowded unorganized dinner. I ordered my favorite entre, and it came cold. By the time it came back everyone was finished with their meal, so I just had my wrapped to take home. I'll never return on cinco de mayo!"

"We always enjoy our dining experience at this lovely restaurant. When weather permits, we enjoy the outside dining patio, which is where we had lunch on this particular day. The guacamole prepared according to your taste is excellent. The inside restaurant gets very busy at certain times of the day...so make a reservation in advice. Always accomodating and friendly service."

"We celebrated my son's 13th anniversary here. There were five of us including my seven year old grandaughter. The guacamole was delicious as usual and we like seeing it made at table and with spiciness on request. My son ordered from the gluten free menu which is extensive and we all enjoyed our food. The waitress was great and they brought my grandaugter's food first. I didn't care for the flan dessert but everyone else enjoyed their icedcream."

"Had a reservation and we were promptly seated. The service was solid, as was the food. The guacamole is always a really good bet as are most of the appetizers. Entrees were nicely prepared and presented but potentially over-seasoned (at least the carne asada seamed to be). Have been to NYC location many times and would go back to Riverside Square location, but probably just for drinks and apps and to enjoy a night out."

"The atmosphere, service, and food were all good but I think the menu is rather limited. The tortias are hand made and that is a noticeable difference. The grilled white fish was outstanding."

"I love Rosa Mexicano, but his location is over-the-top family friendly, which is unfortunate for me because I do not have a family with small children for this location to cater to. Will definitely only be going back to the city locations from now on."

"They say a picture says a thousand words and if I was able to upload a picture to describe my experience at Rosa Mexicano, I would. I took my mother, that recently came from Dominican Republic, to Rosa Mexicano to celebrate her birthday. I anticipated that we were going to have a good time but I have to say I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Paul, the manager, made my mom feel welcome and special. The service was great and the cherry on top of the cake was when they all came out, including the chef, with a birthday platter singing happy birthday. WOW! Thank you to all the staff, from the manager, to the server, to the chef that made a delicious lunch for us all. My mom came home and bragged to everyone from her family in D.R. to the family that stayed home."

"I've eaten at a few locations of this chain, but this location is definitely stellar because the manager and staff are friendly and will go the extra mile to make sure you love your meal. Yes, it's a little pricy, but the food is extremely fresh and nicely spiced with fresh cilantro. Guacamole is made freshly ( yes, they actually scoop the avocado fresh from the shell) at your table and you can get it with any combination of onions, peppers and spices you like. The staff here is especially adept at handling special dietary requests. I asked for fresh raw veggies instead of tortilla chips and a few minutes later I was greeted with a nice heaping plate piled high with freshly cut and peeled cucumbers, jicama and carrots to enjoy with my guaca"

"It was my husband's birthday.I reserved last minute through Open Table and got a spot. Great! Our service was fantastic. The lady was super nice...she even sang a song to my husband even though it was only her. I only wish they would have group of employees to sing birthday songs to customers who came for a special occasion. Also, the place looks high end....I wish the front desk ladies were dressed better. It seemed like their clothes were for a hang out at Starbucks kind of gals. I've seen students wear those clothes to study and/or to hang out at Starbucks. Please........dress professional.:)"

"The guac is excellent and the staff very pleasant. However, the menu is very limited if you are expecting "regular" mexican food you will be disappointed. Everything was too spicy for my date to enjoy. He had to go for a slice of pizza afterwards."

"The food, ambiance and service are all wonderful. We love the quacamale served tableside and made according to your tastes. The classic margarita is delicious! In warmer weather, there is a lovely outdoor dining area which is very pleasant. Spacious restaurant and the tables are well spaced."

"If you like lousy chain food served in a very pretty place then this is for you. We ordered the fish of the day, which they claim was fresh grouper and it was overcooked and overspiced. It was basically inedible and it did not agree with my wife. We also had a chicken dish that lacked flavor and was dry. The Manager and wait staff were very nice but they cannot overcome this type of food, which is certainly not inexpensive. We went on a Thursday night and the restaurant was empty. Maybe the food is why."

"This is the worst experience, I ever had. We were total 7 people. Service was poor. We ordered enchiladas. Green sauce in enchilada was so sour, you can not even put in your mouth. I will never go there. There are better options available than this."

"I found the drink selection to be very good, table side guacamole also very good but entrees, although delicious, slightly overpriced. Food quality was excellent but the restaurant is crowded, meaning tables a little close together and it feels a little claustrophobic. Overall, though, a truly fresh and wonderful spin on Mexican food."

"Second time dining here. Preferred it for lunch. Honored our dinner reservation promptly but did not honor table preference. Busy place on the weekend, almost overcrowded. Unexpectdly, it was packed with kids which led to messy floors. Really good food but I prefer it for the lunch crowd. Service was quite good for lunch and dinner! The dinner waitress actually sang for my birthday! LOL"

"Such a great experience last night at Rosa Mexicano-Riverside!! My three friends and I were greeted by friendly hostesses, sat immediately at a great booth, and the service was incredible. We tried a few of the different appetizers (because they all sounded delicious) and each of us ordered a different entree for dinner-- all were AMAZING!!! Would recommend anything off of that menu! In addition, the service was impeccable, our waitress always made sure we had everything we needed and was friendly and hospitable. Our food came out timely and tasty! Also appreciated that the GM made a point to stop by our table to see how everything was and if we were enjoying our experience... such a great night and so happy we chose Rosa to celebrate!"
